Demeter is one of the first wave of Ocean Masters hired by Three Rings and now employed by Grey Havens. She is governor of all six Ocean Master-controlled islands on the Cerulean Ocean.

Mythology

In Greek mythology, she is the goddess of agriculture and was endlessly generous until her daughter Persephone was kidnapped by Hades. Demeter refused to let anything grow. When the other gods went to get Persephone, Hades had tricked Persephone into marrying him. A compromise was reached. Persephone returns to Demeter for half the year (Spring to the beginning of Winter), and stays with Hades for the winter, thus explaining changing seasons.
