Items of information should only be added to this article when consensus is reached on the Trophy Speculation and Discussion thread on the exact criteria for a trophy. Please do not put your own ideas of what might be correct, as this does not help and will be reverted. Only trophies which have been seen on pirate pages may be added here in accordance with the forum's spoiler policy. |
Trophies are special rewards given to pirates for exceptional achievements. They can be displayed on pirate info pages and in a gallery, similar to portrait galleries. An example of when a trophy might be awarded is when a pirate achieves an ocean wide ultimate standing in a particular puzzle or scores an incredible in a duty report. Trophies are permanent, so they cannot be traded between pirates or taken away when the circumstances with which they were awarded change (e.g. if a pirate later loses their ultimate standing). However, trophies awarded due to bugs in the game have sometimes been revoked. You may view a pirate's trophies in your browser by going to http://OCEAN.puzzlepirates.com/yoweb/trophy/?pirate=PIRATENAME, where OCEAN is replaced with the ocean name, and PIRATENAME is replaced with the name of the pirate on that ocean.
The actual criteria listed below are conjectured, and have not been (nor will be) confirmed by a developer. They should therefore be treated as unreliable until more specific information is discovered through player observations. Only trophies that have been observed on actual, in-game pirate information pages are listed below.
Unless otherwise indicated, the pirate can only meet the requirements through actions taken after release 2006-10-17. Most trophies count back to that release, and when new trophies are added people who have already met the requirements are usually given the trophy. The few trophies this is not the case for are marked as such and include a link to the release counting for that trophy began on.
A pirate continues to accrue credit towards a trophy over the life of the pirate. For example, a crab cleared during bilging today will always count towards the various crab trophies.
Trophies that are earned are never removed except if they are triggered by a bug. Thus, if a player earned the Ultimate Crafter trophy before the existence of Blacksmithing, they will keep the Ultimate Crafter trophy. Pirates who did not have the Ultimate Crafter trophy before Blacksmithing was added to the game must now earn the Ultimate Blacksmithing trophy in order to earn Ultimate Crafter.
Blockade Trophies
These trophies are awarded exclusively to pirates participating in blockades.
![]() Battered Hat Awarded to pirates who sail, carp and bilge for at least 15 minutes on two of the stations and at least 10 minutes on the third in a blockade. The puzzling can be done in one or more rounds of the same blockade. |
![]() Weathered Helm Awarded to pirates at the helm of a ship for 50% of a blockade round, whether on the sea battle board or doing other duties while at the helm. The ship must be on the board and able to influence blockade buoys. |
The following trophies are earned based on blockade buoys influenced by ships boarded by the pirate. Each buoy influenced counts, so the pirate may receive credit for multiple buoys in a single turn. The pirate need not be on a duty station to receive the trophy. (Example: To earn the Flag Bearer, the ship must influence two buoys for fifty turns or one buoy for a hundred turns or some other combination that adds to a hundred.) Note: There can be multiple flags on a single buoy, but the number of flags is irrelevant.

Maneuver Tokens
These trophies are awarded by earning a certain number of maneuver tokens in a blockade, flotilla, or Sea Monster Hunt, while obtaining the specified rating in the duty report for that puzzle. Each level shows a trophy for a higher number of tokens. For example, the Towers of Water can only be earned after the Pillars of Bilge has been earned.

The trophy requirements were also increased to require 10x as many nuggets as the ore requirement was. The First Gold trophy was later changed back to needing 1 nugget.

Historical Notes
- When zombies were introduced, the zombie-specific trophies were incorrect. "Zombie Hunter" used the "Fresh Zombie Hand" picture and vice versa. Same for "Zombie Slayer" and "Preserved Zombie Hand" as well as "Zombies' Bane" and "Bronzed Zombie Hand." This was fixed in release 2007-11-06.

- Example- Raggedjoe: I think this is a really cool idea! Great job. You may want to work on the layout for the "SMH" section though.
- Master15S: I think if we plan to revamp the trophy page, I think all empty squares and unknown ones should say "No KNOWN trophy" (without the emphasis). Just my opinion.. Past that, it is much neater and shorter, too =)
- Davsbrander: I like this layout seems to flow better - Edit: Erm what about the bronze/silver/gold monster/citadel trophies from Atlantis?
- Barrister: I like the fray and SMH groupings although I'd want to see your proposal for the bronze/silver/gold Altantis trophies. I think I like the competition table, but I need to think about it more. I disagree with Master15S about the "KNOWN" trophy text. In many cases, we know there is no trophy. The text on this page appears to reflect that correctly.
- Master15S: Then maybe for those put no Trophy, but for other empty places, put no known? Because those empty spots look messy on both pages.. might just be me, though..The competition ones could maybe be grouped differently (like by year or just with spaces between, just not as big as the spaces between sections) for the following-> ?), with a link to their proper pages, if they exist (If not, how hard to dig up old threads to find winners? Assuming they exist.). That would make it a little prettier, but not leave those messy empty squares.. Just my opinion =) Oh, and I don't like the Miscellaneous Trophies section.. It bugs me.. too different from the rest, I think..
- Belthazar: Pretty good. Just a few things. Firsly, while you're restructuring the page anyway, why not try implementing the coloured background too, as discussed here - the idea is to make the shiny trophies look less bad by giving them a background colour the same as that found on Yoweb pages. Secondly, I've always thought the Ultimate Pirate/Carouser/Crafter trophies should be put up with the Ultimate of Ultimates trophy, because it lets you remove that extra column... though others have disagreed. Lastly, I don't really like what you've done with the competition trophies. It was better before.
- Barrister: A few more suggestions: Move the "Incredible" trophies to the last row on the various tables for aesthetic reasons. Also use "colspan" to smooth out the empty section of the table. Finally, you should be using "valign=top" to make the images in each table aligned with the top of the box. And a request that you add the gorgonyx, etc. trophies.
- Barrister: I'm concerned about the triketos, etc. trophies being laid out left-to-right. What if there's a bejeweled triketos? And a diamond beyond that? These should go from top-to-bottom.
- Lesleywalker: I like it. A few comments though: Perhaps Miscellaneous could go to three narrower columns, they look a bit oversized compared with the others; for the Incred trophies, as place holders where there is no trophy, put the words "No trophy"; and finally I've made a layout suggestion on the talk page for the tokens.
- Uremama: Pretty much there are no bejeweled or diamond lantis trophies atm. I would be rather upset to learn of a future update where they made them as the citadel wins would be out of the question. Nice job so far, but whats with the x y and z sinks?
- Raggedjoe: The reason for the three iterations of gold sinking trophies was because some people were concerned that if they were created, my chart system would not work (See Barrister's comment).
- Katez: 2 little things (otherwise it looks amazing! nicely done). 1) Bellator's Bane appears to be missing? So perhaps an Atlantis line above the CI trophies for x number of wins, and x Vargas wins? Also, Frays is misspelled in the heading. Other than that it looks great so far, can't wait to see what you do with it. :)
- Cedarwings: As Belthazar mentioned earlier, implementing the coloured background with the trophies would be great. We are seeming more trophies appear (new CI trophies) that have problems when we try to find the alpha channel for the transparencies. The background would solve this issue.
- Merethif: I'm not sure if Frenetic Forager should be put in one chain with the rest foraging trohies. It would looks more reasonable if you put it like Vargas Vanquisher. Also a table similar to the one used with bilging trophies may looks good in this case. It is similar case - A chain of trophies plus one non-chained trophy from the same area (CI foraging/CI frays/bilging).
- Raggedjoe: I'm am getting very annoyed. I have been trying (as suggested by Belthazar) to make colored backgrounds for the cells. Unfortunately, I cant seem to get it the right color. If would be much easier if I used images that already had the background, but I don't know how to get them.
- Barrister: This is really starting to shape up nicely. With your permission, I'd like to fix a few minor capitalization and table alignment issues. May I make those edits? Also, the cell colors can be changed by using "background:#cdcdb4;" in the table properties. I'd have to experiment to figure out how to do it on specific cells.
- Raggedjoe: Feel free to correct spelling or such errors. I tried the code, and although it does work, it is not quite the right color.
- Belthazar: Looks to me like it's cecfb5
- Barrister: I verified on my Mac using the yoweb web pages and GraphicConverter. I got cdcdb4.
- Belthazar: Ah, my mistake - I get cdcdb4 as well. Turns out I was running at 16-bit colours, and that changes how GIMP measures things. =)
- Festrunk: I'd like to see the 'within the cursed isles' bit pulled out of the boxes for the Eradicator type trophies and moved into the above-box text to make the vertical space use more compact.
- Lesleywalker: Shouldn't the Jade Monkey be with the carousing trophies? Also, it doesn't have its background colour yet.
- Lesleywalker: I have no problem with the layout as such, but I have a problem with Poker being included in that section under that title. Poker is not a puzzle, it's a game. Jade Monkey should be moved, either to the "Carousing" section (my preference) or to "Miscellaneous".
