Interesting code

Hey! You posted this: {{oceans|#=1|Viridian}} on Ljgmf's page, after the main infobox. What's this for? The infobox already puts her on the Viridian ocean.--Jelvik 15:32, 28 May 2010 (UTC)

It adds the article to a category. Specifically, Category:Viridian Ocean pirates. --Belthazar451 15:37, 28 May 2010 (UTC)
Oh super! I'll remember to add that on all the people I am adding all over the place from now on! Thanks Belthazar :)--Jelvik 15:56, 28 May 2010 (UTC)

Memmers across

You sort players to the top, who probably have not been online since last year. Writing (maybe a year ago) that they would be online that time, does not mean they are and visa versa. I'd prefer the alphabetical sorting. --Kamuflaro 13:47, 19 June 2010 (UTC)

I think making the table sortable would help here. I posted a reply to this of sorts to the continuing discussion at Talk:Memming Players Across Viridian. --Belthazar451 14:08, 19 June 2010 (UTC)
Sorting method is orthogonal to whether players have probably not been online since last year. Editors have removed inactive pirates from other activity lists. --Faulkston 16:12, 19 June 2010 (UTC)

Faulkston i would like to become a player admin to the puzzle pirates wikipedia, im pretty good at it and also enjoy what im doing. please contact me for more info —Preceding unsigned comment added by Robinreyes (talkcontribs)

Standard Name Vessel

It's fixed... sorry apparently I should read the guideline more closely next time. Sorry about that. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mynestreia (talkcontribs)

Crew portraits

Oh - do we use the full-sized ones now? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Addison (talkcontribs)

As far as I've seen, full-sized portraits for crews and flags have always been uploaded. The image scaling to fit the infobox space is left to the Wiki templates and software. Also it's easier to instruct editors to always go to a pirate's portrait gallery, click the desired portrait (single pirate or group) to view it full size and then upload that image. -- Faulkston 05:08, 19 October 2010 (UTC)
Okay - cause since day one I've been uploading the smaller-sized ones - opps! --Addihockey (talkcontribs) 14:52, 19 October 2010 (UTC)

Fixes

hey there, noticed you edited my page, just curious as to why you would change what you did. thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Waywardmatt (talkcontribs)

Which article and which edits? -- Faulkston 19:12, 23 August 2012 (PDT)
yppedia.puzzlepirates.com/waywardmatt you can find your edits in the history(obviously) but I've noticed you tend to troll around changing things on people's pages, like familiar colors or types, you've done it many times to pages I've made/edited and it's frustrating —Preceding unsigned comment added by Waywardmatt (talkcontribs)
Your use of the word "troll" to describe legitimate YPPedia edits doesn't show you're familiar with YPPedia policies. You earlier used the phrase "my page", however articles do not belong to the editor who created them. This policy does not apply to pages in user name space but that's a different situation. As for changing familiar colors or types on any articles you've created or edited using the Waywardmatt YPPedia account, I really do not believe I've done that. Perhaps you've confused other editors' edits with mine (such as Telmasa's edits to the Malificent article), or you've another YPPedia account I have yet to associate with Waywardmatt. There have been cases where editors have used incorrect syntax or parameters in various familiar and pet templates. I've performed corrections possible with the information which was currently available. Other editors are free to make further edits to match the actual colors of pets and familiars. -- Faulkston 21:05, 26 September 2012 (PDT)

Thanks for fixing some of my pages. Well, a lot of them.  :D Jlh0605 23:33, 15 November 2010 (UTC)

RfC opened at YPPedia talk:Policies and guidelines

Hello, I got your name from a prior RfC where you commented, and thought you would be interested in this one. It's a relatively minor point, whether to restrict standard-named vessels from crew and flag articles like personal pirate pages. You can find it at YPPedia talk:Policies and guidelines#Bullet list of Ships on Crew/Flag pages. Thanks for your attention. Chupchup 00:44, 16 November 2010 (UTC)

Crew title & navy rank

Hello Faulkston, in my Crew title & Navy rank box on the right, there's a space above the Crew title, can you remove it please? I can't...

One more, can you give me the links to pirate pages where I can have more ideas to beautify my page? Thank ye! =D

--Dragneel0150 04:40, 11 December 2010 (UTC)

I changed the parameter from crew title to rank. That removed the gap. And here is a category of pirate article categories. -- Faulkston 04:58, 11 December 2010 (UTC)
The gap's still here :S There's too much pirates lol! Don't you know some good pirates with filled profiles? :D --Dragneel0150 08:08, 11 December 2010 (UTC)
There is no longer a gap above the crew title because rank is the correct parameter to use; the gap is much bigger when the crew title parameter is incorrectly used. As for good pirates, I do not know what you consider good; you will have to look around yourself for those sorts of articles. -- Faulkston 17:08, 11 December 2010 (UTC)

Standard Named Ships

Hello didn't you Faulkston said that we are not allowed to put standard names of ships on YYPedia? I found 2 pages with a list of standard named ships... [1] [2] —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dragneel0150 (talkcontribs)

The pirate article about Adrielle has renamed ships only, while the one on Callistan doesn't have a plain listing of standard named ships. The latter article has much more information than just a list, plus it's about a specific name. -- Faulkston 17:08, 11 December 2010 (UTC)

About Adrielle, Creative Spot isn't a rename ship. And as for Callistan, I thought you told me we can't list standard names at all...--Dragneel0150 14:15, 13 December 2010 (UTC)

The policy about lists of standard named ships was debated here and voted on here. It was put in place because articles were being created with lists of ship names alone with no additional information. A pirate collecting particular ship names, whom they acquired these ships from and when does have additional information which tells us something about them, unlike a plain list of otherwise unrelated ship names.
The Creative Spot is found on a page named AdriellesRenamedShips and is located under a renamed ships section, so it's possible that it has in fact been renamed. I've not asked Adrielle whether this is the case but it's quite likely as the player is quite an accomplished artist (and likes her creative area i.e. spot). It's giving some information about the pirate's activities on the forums etc. Even though the ship name is formed from words found on the standard ship adjectives and fish names, it's still a renamed ship, and there's no policy against listing renamed ships in pirate articles.
If you're so inclined, you might raise any issues you still have (such as whether Creative Spot is allowed or not) on the talk pages for those two articles. -- Faulkston 04:10, 14 December 2010 (UTC)

Recent unused image uploads

Near as I can tell, the game screenshots that Ppfriars has been uploading of late are for this contest, which doesn't actually require any sort of screenshot-based proof. So is it worth telling him to not worry about it, or use Photobucket instead, and then delete the images? --Belthazar451 23:12, 18 April 2011 (UTC)

If it doesn't require screenshot-based proof, then it doesn't seem worth the resources in doing the image upload in the first place (from the thread, Ocean Masters check the crew battle records). Nevertheless, how should a guideline be written about which Puzzle Pirates contests shouldn't have images uploaded to the YPPedia? Should the criteria be that uploads are permitted if and only if the contest explicitly needs images to be entered? -- Faulkston 01:05, 19 April 2011 (UTC)
We certainly want something to prevent the wiki filling up with random needless screenshots. It kinda seems to me that the only contests that would really need images uploaded to the wiki are the ones that either require the wiki for display, or where the wiki would make for a convenient archive. --Belthazar451 02:32, 20 April 2011 (UTC)
That's probably the key point - images uploaded to the wiki should be ones displayed in the wiki. In that case they won't get tagged as potentially unused. -- Faulkston 02:37, 20 April 2011 (UTC)

Sorry for the headache

Hey Faulkston, noticed you went through my several hours of wiki editing and made a load of tweaks. Sorry to have caused you a headache. When I added the links they went to the correct page and I thought it was ok. i.e. captain instead of Captain (I presumed seeing as it was a rank/title that it would be capitalized.) I'll make a note of the things you changed on those pages and improve. Thanks --Minimoses 20:49, 26 July 2011 (PDT)

And then i posted it to your archive and not this page, booched again! :( -- Minimoses 20:49, 26 July 2011 (PDT)

No problem at all. -- Faulkston 21:04, 26 July 2011 (PDT)

Ship table

Hey! Is the ship table I made on yppedia.puzzlepirates.com/Dragneel allowed? Thanks! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dragneel0150 (talkcontribs)

Which table? -- Faulkston 18:01, 28 July 2011 (PDT)

Pirate article deletion

The page I was trying to delete is about my pirate so I supposed it is well within the rules for me to do so (I made the page in the first place anyway). I just wouldnt like to have information about my pirate on YPPEDIA. I am just confused as to why on the history the second capital letter in my username is no longer visible, but you can look on my contributions page for proof anyway.

Thanks. -- —Preceding unsigned comment added by Parsaakbari (talkcontribs)

Pirate articles do not belong to individual editors. Below each YPPedia editing box is a message which clearly states that contributions to the YPPedia are released under the Creative Commons Attribution 2.5 Licence. -- Faulkston 18:03, 6 September 2011 (PDT)

Expandable table

Hi do you know why I can't see the 'Show' button in expandable tables? The problem is not with my table on my page since I can't find the button on other pages as well. And is there a way to make the contents table expandable? Thanks! Dragneel

Unfortunately there is a bug in the PuzzlePirates and PuzzlePiratesStretch wiki skins which prevents proper functioning of the showhide template and the collapsible contents table. The showhide template was modified recently to include a link to a transcluded subpage as a workaround for the (currently) two wiki skins for which it doesn't work properly. -- Faulkston 15:25, 12 November 2011 (PST)

Sage blockade history

Thanks for fixing links and such on that! It apparently broke my ability to see the wiki just creating the page and I'm only just now able to view it correctly again! I'd say that I'll be glad to see the page get locked, but I'm sure the Emerald page will eventually be just as gross. --Fannon 15:13, 8 January 2012 (PST)

Is it the page length which broke things for you? -- Faulkston 15:22, 8 January 2012 (PST)
I guess. I'm not entirely sure. I just went to save it and it never loaded, and then I couldn't load anything else for the longest. But I was talking to someone in skype and he was able to see it a few minutes after I hit save despite the fact that I couldn't load anything. --Fannon 16:01, 8 January 2012 (PST)

Dock Icons

Just uploaded the dock icon for the dragon fanchuan and I can't remember the correct tag. Every other icon I look at has a different tag. Which one is correct? I'll go through and change them all to be consistent. --Fannon 11:51, 13 January 2012 (PST)

Did someone go through and change all the ship dock icon tags to {{interface image}} already? That seems like an appropriate tag to put on the dragon fanchaun dock icon, so I went ahead and did so. -- Faulkston 19:27, 13 January 2012 (PST)
Ughh. I need to take a break from the wiki. I was looking at the upload summary part where it shows what tag is applied when uploaded and THOSE are the ones that are mismatched. I should also sleep more probably. :P Sorry! --Fannon 20:40, 13 January 2012 (PST)

Emerald's PvP Rankings

After your edit the pictures proving Fame list are gone, its pointles, remove them completel or make them be there. If you want i'll upload smaller version, but without them that topic is useless. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Deltaruler (talkcontribs)

Perhaps the images were unable to be loaded by your web browser earlier, since my edit to that particular article made no changes to the section with the images. About the usefulness of the article with or without these images, perhaps you'd like to answer Belthazar451's question on the talk page? -- Faulkston 13:41, 18 February 2012 (PST)

Image Names

What is the correct naming scheme for images of inside views of buildings such as this? File:Weaveit.png --Fannon 19:31, 23 February 2012 (PST)

Maybe File:Building-Cerulean-Weave It To Me (lobby).png? -- Faulkston 20:19, 23 February 2012 (PST)

About Delta Rating System

Thank you for the help, but why you removed the useful links sections as political maps and island owning flags? Also removing my username from Deltaruler causing unknown Deltaruler without active link. Why? 8:28 PM July 08 2012 -- Deltaruler

Similar issue - why you connect deltaruler with gulfstream, but not connecting gulfstream with deltaruler as well??? 12:31 AM 09 2012 -- Deltaruler

The best approach to avoid confusion might be to only refer to the pirate Gulfstream in main name space articles and not to the user Deltaruler.
I'm uncertain as to which useful links sections are being referred to. If they're on a user page, the information could be copied to a main name space, thereby avoiding having to link to a user name space page. -- Faulkston 14:43, 8 July 2012 (PDT)

Becoming Main Helper of YPP for Bulgarian speaking people

I am not sure this page is the right place to ask, but since you are actually the most active editor of my contributions i dare to dream for proper answer. I really worked hard to establish some Bulgarian players activity and my question is could i start translating YPPedia from English to Bulgarian? How's works if i may know? Also i saw yesterday some article about becoming administrator. As volunteer and responsible person on age 36 i really wish wider influence in the game from Bulgarian future players, which i believe will join after translation. At least i want to establish Bulgarian page of my user page or at least pirate's page. I want some reasonable feedback concerns my serious intentions. Thank you. -- Deltaruler

I'll ask the Ocean Master currently in charge of the YPPedia about translation. -- Faulkston 11:28, 8 July 2012 (PDT)
Clotho is the that Ocean Master; please discuss this issue further on her talk page. -- Faulkston 18:42, 10 July 2012 (PDT)

Thanks for helping on "Category" tagging
