but if im wrong i would like to know where that rule is?

Azion 17:47 24 January 2008 (PDT)

A link to the rule was posted on your user talk page even before you posted a message here. -- Faulkston 18:28, 24 January 2008 (PST)

Crew portraits

Ahoy there, I'm having a bit of trouble with the crew portraits for both Azure Knights' crews; Viridian and Midnight. The problem is that I can't seem to get either crew to link to their own portraits, probably something in the template could explain it. Also I couldn't find anything about it in the troubleshooting for the template.

Oh and thanks for the barnstar! --Peterljr888 15:10, 12 July 2007 (PDT)

additional image tags

I created two new image tags recently. {{wiki event image}} (Usage) is for images that are either illustration or instructions for events that are utilizing the wiki. {{misnamed image}} (Usage) is for images, especially art and avatars, that don't follow the file naming guidelines. Because the guidelines are in place partly for the protection of the artist, we should tag images that are misnamed so that they can be re-uploaded under the proper name at a future time.--Fiddler 22:07, 17 July 2007 (PDT)

What about Image:Avatar-dave2567-Swordfight.JPG and Image:Avatar- Katie -Geekkid.JPG is misnamed? It looks to me like they follow the standard format of avatar-artist's forum name-filename. --Fiddler 12:28, 22 July 2007 (PDT)
They're probably OK as currently named, although I would use a slightly more descriptive file name indicating for whom the avatar was created. Agreed that information is present in the image tag. -- Faulkston 12:33, 22 July 2007 (PDT)

Empty/Junk Articles

Please be more aggressive about deleting (or marking for deletion) articles that have no real content. There's no value in tagging an article for cleanup if its contents are just scribblings. Thanks! --Barrister 00:42, 11 September 2007 (PDT)

OK, I just hope they won't be recreated almost immediately after deletion. -- Faulkston 18:27, 11 September 2007 (PDT)
I'll second that. Some of the articles I've cleaned up recently have been a name and that's it. Nothing else. Just the name of the pirate that I then found the yoweb for, made an infobox, put a basic description and pirate stubbed. Honestly, I think those particular ones can be outright deleted as opposed to cleaned up. I don't want to write an article for every pirate who can create a page titled as their name if you know what I mean.  ;) -- Muffynz(t/c) 00:57, 12 September 2007 (PDT)
Once upon a time I was doing just that but then realized that new editors would never learn if they didn't have to do things themselves. Hence I started tagging for cleanup rather than directly adding infoboxes. But if the majority of articles treated such aren't subsequently added to by the creators, we shouldn't even bother tagging them. -- Faulkston 18:27, 12 September 2007 (PDT)

Thanks for helping me clear it up!

Thanks, so much.

I was not sure how to correctly title the Image for the fish, I have had flag mates asking about it and wanted to give that info to others as well. -- Laotze 18:48, 16 September 2007 (PDT)

You're welcome. -- Faulkston 19:02, 16 September 2007 (PDT)

Just a thing

I deleted gundusalvis because first I created a similar page but not the one I can acced when clicking on your blue name.

Gundusalvis 20:08, 1 October 2007 (GMT)

Treasure Hunter's Guild images

THG images should use the {{wiki event image}} tag as opposed to {{event image}}. Just a heads up. --Fiddler 20:58, 1 October 2007 (PDT)

Fixed. -- Faulkston 21:56, 1 October 2007 (PDT)

Thanks

Thanks for helping edit my page, Faulky :D

Unused?

Ahoy! I asked people to upload their blockade art, and I've noticed you've tagged the two people have done so far as "unused." Did I miss something and instruct them wrongly? There is a blockade propaganda page devoted to these pieces, and I'd like to see them preserved. --Eurydice 20:58, 15 October 2007 (PDT)

I wish that putting something into a category would mark it as having an article linking to them. I've removed the unused tags. I don't actually delete anything marked as unused after a few months if their file name is correctly structured or they're appropriately tagged fan art. -- Faulkston 21:07, 15 October 2007 (PDT)
Ah, gotcha--sorry about that! I should have given a heads-up. Cheers! --Eurydice 21:29, 15 October 2007 (PDT)
Special:Unusedimages lists images not inlined (linked) on pages. (There's some error with file names with odd characters causing their entry to get stuck in that index). I now worked out (never really dived into the concept that much...) that the unused category is not redundant. It can be used to differentiate between useful images (appearing in category pages) and potential junk images which would both appear on Special:Unusedimages. The used category is thus an aid to tracking items. -- Faulkston 21:57, 15 October 2007 (PDT)

Deleted Crew Info

Ahoy! I've noticed you deleted some information on our Crew's page, more specifically the member listing. Did I miss any policy that states it can't be included there? Because I can se no reason for deleting it.

Regards,

Brunopalermo 08:11, 1 November 2007 (PDT)

A plain crew listing is both redundant and tedious to maintain information. It's merely a click away using the link found in the crew infobox which leads to the in-game crew info page. However former crew members who have left the crew is not redundant information as it is not recorded on the in-game crew info page automatically. So I left that information there. -- Faulkston 18:44, 1 November 2007 (PDT)
Ahoy! That's why I put it hidden... Anyway, if it's not allowed, thanks for warning.
- Brunopalermo 03:53, 2 November 2007 (PDT)
Hiding the information doesn't make it any less tedious to maintain. Not replicating it in a crew article saves some unnecessary editing effort but what generally happens is that such lists end up getting out of date. -- Faulkston 16:37, 2 November 2007 (PDT)

show/hide box

noticed you made some changes on Pinga's page, and to be honest i dont like it because I didnt find a way to make changes on the list and add new names yet, so either you help me by explaining how to do it or undo the hide show box ty kindly

Pinga® sage ocean

When you're viewing the Pinga article, add /Skull trinkets to your web browser's URL location bar to get to the subpage and then you can edit from there. It's also relatively easy to add an edit link. -- Faulkston 11:29, 5 January 2008 (PST)
O,o I will try ( not a technologyfreak, i just do my simple pages here and there, dont understend anything about url codes etc so its not that easy for me, ty =O

Redundant flag information

I was curious, since governing body listings are now apparently verboten, should flag statements also be removed from flag pages? They are accessible in the exact same fashion as the governing body, so I would assume that they would fall under the same logic for removal as the governing body. --Fjandr

A plain listing of crew or flag members conveys far less information than the public statements (usually). Some flags and crews also list duties such as events planner and so forth, which adds more information than just names. -- Faulkston 21:55, 10 January 2008 (PST)

Bellzboy

Ahoy mate, Ive noticed that on the article, Kingnothing, that the user Bellzboy has deleated all the words mutable times. Although it has been reverted I would suggest some action to take place so that he dosnt do this again, and not to more articles. Thanks! --Instantflash 16:34, 9 February 2008 (PST)

I've posted a second warning on that user's talk page. More action will be taken if the notice is ignored. -- Faulkston 18:29, 9 February 2008 (PST)

Synergy (Hunter pirate)

Ahoy. Was there a special reason not to name the page 'Synergy (pirate)' ? I'm not sure if I should bother to rename it, but want to decide before I upload a portrait. --Alfwyn 12:02, 17 February 2008 (PST)

Probably because there are pirates of the same name on other oceans, like http://viridian.puzzlepirates.com/yoweb/pirate.wm?target=Synergy -- Vorky 13:22, 17 February 2008 (PST)
Originally the article was titled Synergy of Hunter, so I maintained the Hunter part while using the standard disambiguation suffix scheme. If the player has pirates with the same name on the other oceans, then yes, Synergy (pirate) would do for a title. -- Faulkston 14:25, 17 February 2008 (PST)
