Treasure Brigade page
Erm, hello, i'm sorry to interupt your page, but I have fixed the page that you ( Or at least I thought it was you ) put that it was a stub on by expanding it. Will you please take "This page is a stub" of this page? http://yppedia.puzzlepirates.com/Treasure_Brigade --1000fast 12:24, 14 January 2007 (PST)
- That page was stubbed from a long time ago. If any article gets a lot of material added to it, then by all means it can be removed from the stub category. -- Faulkston 12:34, 14 January 2007 (PST)
Regarding Portraits and a Smidge About Trophies
Ahoy, mate. I'm having a bit of trouble updatin' my portrait on a page (/Scervy). I was wondering if you could check it out for me. Also, I think Trophies should be aloud, but that's just me.
- The in-game trophy page for each pirate is allowed to be linked to. This is self-updating and thus removes all the maintenance work from the YPPedia editors. I will take a look at the Scervy article. -- Faulkston 16:50, 14 January 2007 (PST)
- If an image doesn't seem right when displayed on a page after you've uploaded a new version, reload the page in your web browser. This should refresh your web browser's cache. -- Faulkston 16:53, 14 January 2007 (PST)
Deletion question
Hey Faulk, just wondering why you only proposed deletion for the page FMS as opposed to just deleting it (because I'm strange like that). --Whitemonkey 12:23, 20 February 2007 (PST)
- I usually wait a couple of weeks before deleting articles just in case the original poster clarifies the intent. -- Faulkston 19:54, 20 February 2007 (PST)
Herbs
In general, we favor using the singular form of a word for the page and, when appropriate, create a redirect for the plural. Why reverse this for Herbs? --Barrister 21:54, 22 February 2007 (PST)
- I was aware of that guideline and debated whether herb sounding more awkward in phrasing than herbs would trump it. The unit of trade and pillage is a crate of herbs i.e. a collection rather than one stalk or branch. The gems article is titled gem but I don't know whether a single gem comprises a unit or more than one gem. -- Faulkston 22:30, 22 February 2007 (PST)
Merging
Thanks for your help on the merging of the articles for Rivqa and Simplesailor! -- Tarajayne 14:14, 4 March 2007 (PST)
- You're welcome. -- Faulkston 14:42, 4 March 2007 (PST)
Viridian blockade W/L chart
Thanks for fixing that. I couldn't figure out how to do it. Now to try and bribe for free RfA votes... just kidding. But honestly, go vote, support or oppose! Tyman 101 17:58, 10 March 2007 (PST)
- It was all to do with the fact that table columns and rows don't overlap. The rowspan or colspan "pushes" the cell contents specifier out of the way. -- Faulkston 18:11, 10 March 2007 (PST)
Minor edits
Ahoy there! I was recently chastised by Guppymomma for marking lots of edits I thought were minor as such. In doing so, I was following your example - basically everything that doesn't add anything notable to the Wiki is considered a minor edit. I am curious as to how you actually decide what is a minor edit and what is not. Thanks! -- Thefirstdude (t/c) 13:40, 4 April 2007 (PDT)
- I set my default to indicate edits as minor but I see now that I'm often forgetting to unset this option for user talk pages and policy discussions. The problem is that if I have the default the other way, I will forget to indicate edits as minor when required. For large edits and article creation, I usually remember to deselect the minor edit checkbox. -- Faulkston 13:57, 4 April 2007 (PDT)
- Oh, I see. Thanks! -- Thefirstdude (t/c) 14:41, 4 April 2007 (PDT)
Rank box
Before converting all pirate pages to using the rank box template, please look over and contribute to the discussion at Template talk:Rank box. Thanks.--Fiddler 20:38, 7 April 2007 (PDT)
- Thought it had been accepted already - must have been a different infobox change. -- Faulkston 20:44, 7 April 2007 (PDT)
Eggs
FYI, the eggs you uploaded don't have transparent backgrounds. I'm taking the images from the palace shoppe and re-uploading. Also, some of the eggs were rendered differently in-game than in the contest. (Take a look at Kit's, for example.) Hope you don't mind. --Barrister 01:13, 8 April 2007 (PDT)
- I was editing the existing images which had already been uploaded. I noticed they didn't have transparent backgrounds because this was quite apparent when they were placed in a non-white background table. I deleted the originally uploaded images because there wasn't a whole lot of difference between them and my edits. However it seems these originals were not the in-game images to begin with which I did not notice. -- Faulkston 11:45, 8 April 2007 (PDT)
Woo for BK trinket pics
If you have time, zap the ones you've gotten off of YPPedia:Wishlist#Trinkets. --Guppymomma 22:02, 25 April 2007 (PDT)
American English
Just FYI, the YPPedia standard is American English. --Guppymomma 19:35, 29 April 2007 (PDT)
- So British English should be converted to American English spelling? I've seen enough British English to do the translation on the fly as it were but that means I don't edit the text in the articles itself. -- Faulkston 21:34, 29 April 2007 (PDT)
Cxela says
Thank you Faulkston for editing my page, it looks great now!
- You're welcome. -- Faulkston 17:33, 8 May 2007 (PDT)
Noinclude
/me hangs my head in shame... I knew I forgot something.-- Cedarwings (t/c) 12:01, 13 May 2007 (PDT)
- Hey, it's OK. I really doubt anyone would notice until some category started appearing where it shouldn't have and that's not particularly likely? -- Faulkston 12:02, 13 May 2007 (PDT)
Image
Hey mates im having trouble with my image. I want to put a new one up there that i just got. But it keeps putting up the old one. Id also like to add my #1 Treasure Haul trinket, but i dont know how to do this. Cody222
- Looks like the image update was taken care of. However by policy, trophies aren't allowed to be listed on pirate pages. -- Faulkston 14:48, 27 May 2007 (PDT)
FLAGID
I noticed that you added the Yoweb link to the Riot flag page. How do I find the FlagID, or is it something reserved for admins? Thanks.--Biliter01 14:25, 27 May 2007 (PDT)
- It's a slightly indirect process to obtain flag and crew id numbers. Find a pirate in the flag or crew who has a pirate page (or create one). Use the link to the in-game pirate info page which is in the infobox to open the corresponding web page in a web browser. Click on the flag or crew link and read the id number from the end of the URL in the location bar. -- Faulkston 14:48, 27 May 2007 (PDT)
Suicide King
Could you please correctly link Suicide King crew in Vanguard infobox under |membercrews.--Biliter01 09:09, 28 May 2007 (PDT)
- I just did. It now links to the crew rather than the disambiguation page. -- Faulkston 09:10, 28 May 2007 (PDT)
Crew Article Changes
Ahoy. I noticed that you changed a couple of articles I updated involving crew info pages ({{Los Conquistadors]], etc.. You removed bolding and changed the history title. Any particular reason? I was using the Sample Crew Page as my template and your changes breaks with the template. --Kgarrett1969 19:18, 22 June 2007 (PDT)
- From that template: Bold the first instance of '''SampleCrew''', and only the first instance which is standard wikipedia formatting. The bolding of the crew name in the history section would be contrary to that guideline, which means the template contains a slight contradiction. It is a little redundant to include "of crew name" after "History", since the article is already about the crew. I'll propose changes to the template on the relevant talk page. -- Faulkston 19:25, 22 June 2007 (PDT)
- Doh! I've done a ton of updates that way. I'll quit doing it that way and start doing it the way you suggested. Is there any problem with using italics around crew names and flag names in the article to set them off or should I not do that as well? --Kgarrett1969 19:29, 22 June 2007 (PDT)
- You can probably keep "History of crew name" as a section header as it's so minor a detail - including the "of crew name" or leaving it out doesn't change the semantics.

- The defacto standard appears to be to not have special formatting for crew and flag names. The YPPedia style guide doesn't specify any special formatting nor rule it out. The Wikipedia style guide for titles doesn't quite seem like the right fit for crews and flags because what we're looking for is something like names of navies. In that case, no special formatting is used for the name. -- Faulkston 19:44, 22 June 2007 (PDT)
Sanc
Ahoy, could you take a moment to look at Sanc and help me understand why the |rank1 part of the pirate infobox template "knocks" the gallery link/image out of its proper place, inside the colored box? I know the icon placed by the |rank1 modifier puts it in the same box as gallery and stat page links images but all other pages have appeared unaffected thus far. Thanks -- Haywoodx(t/c) 20:17, 22 June 2007 (PDT)
- Could this be a web browser specific problem? It looks fine in Firefox to me. -- Faulkston 22:47, 22 June 2007 (PDT)
- /me pops his head in. Looks fine in Firefox to me as well. --Muffynz 22:59, 22 June 2007 (PDT)

This Month's Featured Article Contest
Ahoy there. There was a recent discussion on the forums about the lack of administrator involvement with the contest I am running right now. While I don't find it necessary to have all the admins vote for the winner of the competition, I feel if 1 or 2 weighed in it might alleviate some of the apprehensions about this manner of voting. If you happen to have time and would like to cast your vote for this month's featured article winner, I would greatly appreciate it. Template_talk:Featured_article Thanks! --Muffynz 09:41, 26 June 2007 (PDT)
