2009 Holiday events

The 2009 Holiday events began quietly on the 8th of December 2009, with the release of holiday-themed seasonal trinkets in the palace shoppe, including new player-created seasonal trinkets, along with christmas hats, christmas-themed furniture, limited edition portrait backgrounds, and the frost class sloop.

On the 21st of December 2009, all pirates were made into ghosts, which started off the main competition.

Pirates in all oceans were divided into three teams, which took their names from major characters in the book A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens - namely, the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Christmas Future, and Christmas Yet to Come. Pirates participated by defeating brigands and barbarians while on a pillage. During the course of the event, all brigands and barbarians (save those aboard Brigand King vessels) wore top hats. The standings for each team were regularly tallied and updated on a special "Competition!" tab of the notice board.

Trophies were awarded to the participating members of each team who finished in each position.
