Caps

Shouldn't all the brigand king trinkets be lowercased except for the first word? --Emufarmers 17:06, 14 June 2006 (PDT)

Well I thought not because in-game each part of the name is capitalised. --Sagacious (talk) 17:10, 14 June 2006 (PDT)
Mrh...I was thinking back to this, but it doesn't look like we ever quite resolved exactly what we'd do for lists. --Emufarmers 17:21, 14 June 2006 (PDT)

Bludgeons

I have recently discovered that when you have the rope coils, normally a two handed bludgeon in portraits, if you are wearing sleeves, they only show on one hand. At least in the case of the Jerkin. Should this be noted or pictured here? (My portrait showing this is on my pirate's gallery. Feel free to cut out the pertinent portion to add to the article if needed.)

What's your pirate name and ocean? --Barrister 00:40, 21 June 2006 (PDT)
Sorry. Forgot to put my user info. It doesn't tell ya who made edits? Kraggard on Viridian. --Kraggard 00:56, 21 June 2006 (PDT)
It shows your login name, but that's not always the pirate name. :-) As for the rope coils, this is very helpful. I think I'd like to see a couple of variations of men/women sleeved/unsleeved so that we can document it correctly. --Barrister 02:06, 21 June 2006 (PDT)
I don't think this is different than how the rope coils normally appear. It just seems different because the sleeve covers up the rope on the arm, but you can still see the rope around the hand and it looks the same as it would if the pirate didn't have sleeves. --Lovelypen 14:26, 21 June 2006 (EDT)
Well it certianly surprised me on how it looked. Frankly I didn't know what to expect before I bought the portrait, I asked on the forums if anyone knew and got no response. I was ready for the left arm (right in picture) to have the rope coil over the jerkin, but that didn't happen. Which is why I suggest adding the information. --Kraggard 12:36, 21 June 2006 (PDT)
Aren't the gauntlets red not maroon? Or is that your portait Barrister? --Angelbeaver 03:45, 30 June 2006 (PDT)
I'm not 100% sure. They're a little dark so I thought they were maroon, but on second thought I think they're red. --Barrister 12:42, 30 June 2006 (PDT)

While I'm at it, the quick update is that Nemo's now aware of the broken bottle missing hand issue, so hopefully this will be corrected in a future release or something. --Guppymomma 11:44, 15 August 2006 (PDT)

Ship deck items

Bia has a portrait with bilge pumps on the expansive ship deck background here. Is this available to players or just an OM trick? Gail 01:01, 25 June 2006 (PDT)

It's an OM trick. Players can't get the bilge pump in that background. I just tried it. --Barrister 01:21, 25 June 2006 (PDT)

I just painted this. Is this a bug? CashCarStar 01:14, 7 November 2007 (PDT)

Yes. --Guppymomma 05:28, 7 November 2007 (PST)
Heh, so is an OM gonna change it on me or can I keep it? CashCarStar 14:47, 7 November 2007 (PDT)
Unfortunately, OMs don't fix bugged portraits. Marmink 14:10, 7 March 2008 (PDT)

Unknown Items

The "perfum bottle" is actually "Rose Goddess Perfume" and is won off the widow queen. I'm not sure how to change it without messing the table up, so help would be appreciated. --Lethallizard 06:49, 25 June 2006 (PDT)

It's worth pointing out that the new scroll trinket does NOT enable the parchment portrait item. --Joneth 16:48, 21 March 2007 (PDT)

I would think that the roses are from the trinket offered in Roses All the Way tournaments. --ByeThunda 08:00, 9 August 2007 (PDT)

Missing Portrait Items

To tired to crop the image myself, but take a look at krakenb's portrait on hunter for a picture of Barnabas the pales willow o' wisp --Lethallizard 15:26, 27 June 2006 (PDT)

His hand doesn't appear to be attached to the arm in that portrait. --Thunderbird 13:26, 28 June 2006 (PDT)

If someone wishes to add the Jigsaw puzzle piece, it can be found here --Lethallizard 01:26, 20 September 2006 (PDT)

If someone wishes to add the musical box of lamentations, it can be found here --Lethallizard 13:55, 30 September 2006 (PDT)

Whups, sorry we didn't catch this earlier. We appreciate your finding 'em! --Guppymomma 12:25, 20 October 2006 (PDT)

Porcelain Cup

Look like Glaucus just had a portrait done on Cobalt with the porcelain cup [1]. My photoshop is acting up, so someone else will need to crop it. :) --Rixation(t/c) 11:28, 15 July 2006 (PDT)

Done. --Sagacious (talk) 11:36, 15 July 2006 (PDT)
Is it only for me that the Porcelain Cup is uncentered, while every other item is centered properly? I checked the formatting and it does not appear broken, yet that one item appears left justified in my browser. --Kraggard 10:26, 9 February 2007 (PST)
It's uncentered because it's cropped from a single portrait of Glaucus where the cup is to the very left of the portrait. If you can find a double or multiple portrait with a porcelain cup, feel free to point it out or to crop & reupload the image used on this page. --Guppymomma 21:20, 9 February 2007 (PST)
Why would the cropping of the picture have any effect on how that picture is centered in the cell? I'm not noticing that the cup is uncentered in the picture, I'm noting that the picture is uncentered in the cell, as well as the text.--Kraggard 10:54, 12 February 2007 (PST)
Ah. It's centered for me with Firefox 2.0 on a pc. What are you using? --Guppymomma 14:28, 12 February 2007 (PST)
At work, so it's the corporate sponsored IE v6.0 on XP . Every other item on the page lines up corrctly, I'm going to go out on a limb and guess it's because the item description for all the items in that row are 2 lines, except for this one, and the software is mucking it up over that. I'm just curious if others are seeing it as well or if it's specific to this machine. --Kraggard 08:06, 13 February 2007 (PST)
It's an IE thing. Just checked 7.0 on xp. Fixed it. Just a html rendering issue with IE. --Guppymomma 08:16, 13 February 2007 (PST)

Eggs

I have no idea what these are and I couldn't see a link to them.. anyone want to throw in a linkie somewhere for us enlightened folk? ;) --Lizzie 07:21, 17 August 2006 (PDT)

Will that work for ya? :) --Rixation(t/c) 07:32, 17 August 2006 (PDT)
I guess, although I still don't understand what they are. Was there a competition to design them a while ago or something? --Lizzie 07:45, 17 August 2006 (PDT)
Yeah, details here. Not sure if there's an appropriate place on the portrait item article for that type of link though... --Rixation(t/c) 07:50, 17 August 2006 (PDT)
Ah, ok. Yeah you're right, whatever you think works :) Good to know what its about though ;) --Lizzie 08:03, 17 August 2006 (PDT)

Dexla's egg can be found here -- Precis

FYI, I've purchased all 8 of the 2007 eggs that can be bought through the Palace Shoppe (on Midnight). Let me know if anyone wants to borrow one for a

portrait. --Barrister 21:25, 4 April 2007 (PDT)

I have purchased one portrait with Alexariel's egg on it if anyone wants to add it I'll be happy to give the [link] I can't add it my self so I'll post it here --Gundusalvis 00:04, 15 March 2008 (GMT)
Done! --Instantflash 17:09, 14 March 2008 (PDT)

I have a portrait with Annaleese holding Shortyjack's and I holding Dexla's Second Egg. I see SJ's is still missing. Feel free to use the image to fill it in. The portrait can be found here--Celiatr 09:11, 19 March 2008 (PDT)

Brigand King trinkets

Do you need to have won these yourself to get a portrait with them? --Angelbeaver (talk) 16:32, 19 August 2006 (PDT)

The trinket must have your name on it, just like skulls. --Thunderbird 16:36, 19 August 2006 (PDT)
this doesn't seem to be true anymore - trinkets can be held regardless of whose name is on it. (tested with BKs, skulls hands and fur). I've updated the /* trinkets */ section accordingly to clarify this. --Therobotdude 07:39, 25 July 2013 (PDT)
Aye, the "your name on it" requirement was removed a fair while ago... and I could have sworn there used to be a note specifically stating that on the article itself... --Belthazar451 14:05, 25 July 2013 (PDT)

Presents

Has anyone seen a present in a portrait yet? Does it matter which of the 3 types of presents it is? --Barrister 15:55, 14 December 2006 (PST)

Tilinka has a portrait. She says: "I think it's the same - that was the foil wrapped one. Colors matched and when I picked it it said foil-wrapped. Pattern was different, but I like the portrait one better. :)" And here is a pattern-wrapped one. Interestingly enough, I did not have a choice of the two pattern wrapped presents I was holding. It picked the first one in my inventory. --Zava 18:32, 14 December 2006 (PST)
There is, in fact, different art for all three types of present. And you're correct, you don't have a choice of which it colors like, and it picks your first one of that type (I think; it picks the first it finds, and I believe it crawls through your inventory in the same order your booty panel will display them... to be safe, you might want to only have the appropriate one in your inventory, or just check the preview carefully) --Cephalopod 19:51, 14 December 2006 (PST)
All done! --Barrister 09:08, 15 December 2006 (PST)

Candy Cane

Shouldn't this be in this article too? --Mildina 07:55, 17 December 2006 (PST)

It is - Look at the bottom of the Trinkets section. :) --Zava 07:59, 17 December 2006 (PST)

Iron Hammer

I've seen this in a player portrait seen here. I've talked to him, but he only says it's his 'ban-hammer'. Anyone else willing to try and get something else out of him? :P --P1P3L1N3 23:20, 24 January 2007 (PST)

That's just the regular hammer bludgeon. The iron hammer is round at both ends of the head; this hammer is pointed at one end like the bludgeon.--Fiddler 23:38, 24 January 2007 (PST)
Oops. I should start paying more attention. Thanks anyway. --P1P3L1N3 23:45, 24 January 2007 (PST)

Scroll trinket?

So does this trinket trigger the parchment item? I've seen no mention of it (and quite too stingy to buy one and test it myself). Gail 09:49, 2 May 2007 (PDT)

Doesn't seem to. --Thunderbird 10:08, 2 May 2007 (PDT)

Antediluvian conch

Someone in the forums said that both the Antediluvian conch trinket and the trophy will unlock the portrait item. Is this correct? ~ Sweetiepiepi

Yes. Confirmed by the Ringers. --Barrister 15:21, 5 February 2008 (PST)

Trophy

Anyone want to make a suggestion as to where I should add the new "Trophy" portrait item? It only needs one picture, not one per trophy, but it doesn't really fit the existing categories. --Barrister 00:06, 6 February 2008 (PST)

Maybe make a new Miscellaneous category? --Thunderbird 18:12, 24 February 2008 (PST)

??

What is the thing razorlight is holding in this portrait???

--Fetaboy 05:01, 24 February 2008 (PST)

Trophy item. --Guppymomma 07:42, 24 February 2008 (PST)

Splitting of Eggs

Just a suggestion but should the eggs be split by available to all and special only eggs since some can onlt be won in tournaments? --Matt121493 23:34, 13 March 2008 (PDT)

That would belong on a page about the eggs, rather than this page. This page is about what the items look like once they've been acquired. --Barrister 23:47, 13 March 2008 (PDT)

Eurydice Egg (OM)

As you can see here (http://sage.puzzlepirates.com/yoweb/gallery/portrait.wm?pirate=Capberry&itemid=15373064)

I have Eurydice Egg that I won. I suppose you can add it to the pedia.

added - thanks --Alfwyn 04:41, 21 March 2008 (PDT)

OM only items

If memory serves, there were OM only portrait items, such as roses/flowers, which were, but are no longer, shown on this page. Unfortunatly my abilities only go as far as to point out the missing info, not dredge it up and reattach it without fear of breaking things. Would someone be able to look into that? --Nooblar 07:52, 05 June 2008 (PDT)

It looks like that section was accidentally deleted during a recent edit. I've gone ahead and restored it. --Fiddler 07:58, 5 June 2008 (PDT)

Ring Poses

The pictures shown for the rings have a male wearing the band, and a female wearing the gemstone, which produces different positioning of the hand. Has it been confirmed that the poses for the two kinds of purchasable rings isn't affected by gender, but by the rings themselves? Zyxt 13:19, 25 June 2008 (PDT)

Undead portraits

Are the ability to hold items affected by the player being transformed into a skellie/zombie/ghost? If so, how? --Gail 22:18, 31 October 2008 (UTC)

Zombies and ghosts are unaffected (though the item becomes translucent when held by a ghost), but skellies can hold no items. --Belthazar451 22:48, 31 October 2008 (UTC)

Flowers and Mugs after 2009-01-20 Ice update

I've taken a few portraits with the flowers already. Let's fill in the list below as portraits are found; then we can crop to the appropriate size once we know the outer bounds of the images. --Fiddler 13:22, 21 January 2009 (UTC)

Flowers
Mugs w/o foam
Mugs w/ foam

We need mugs too. Possibly with and without foam. And maybe update the fixed hair and buccaneer jacket images. I'd help out, only I don't have Ice access any more. All I can do is scan portraits on the yoweb, and that gets kinda tedious... --Belthazar451 13:46, 21 January 2009 (UTC)
When we start getting mug images go ahead and make a mug section. --Fiddler 19:58, 21 January 2009 (UTC)
According to this post by Cephalopod, artwork is the same for those with and without cards, so you don't really need examples for the second group of flowers. --Ynahteb 19:29, 21 January 2009 (UTC)
Ooops, I missed that. --Fiddler 19:58, 21 January 2009 (UTC)
I guess this is a good a place as any, since we're talking about the thread already, but where should we put this? Injuries? Separate part of the mugs page? On the Cursed Chalice page? It's not replacement headgear, because some of the pirates can be seen wearing hats. --Belthazar451 21:42, 21 January 2009 (UTC)
I think the Cursed chalice page is a good place for it, as well as the instructions on how to achieve the Cultist face paint. Although an example (one color) should make it to the portait page too. As for the portraits of mugs with foam, we'll probably have to wait until the production ocean release as there are currently no active drinkers that have solid drinking experience. -- Cedarwings (talk) 03:25, 22 January 2009 (UTC)

(undent) I think since the facepaint color is affected by the pirate's hair color the color table ought to go on Portrait_skin_and_hair#Cursed_pirates. But yes, it definitely needs to be included in the cursed chalice article, and probably on masks as well since that's what most people are calling them.--Fiddler 05:09, 22 January 2009 (UTC)

Maybe it needs a link on Mask pointing them elsewhere, but I don't think these should go there, since the Mask page is about a Halloween-only headwear item, while the Cultist Face thing is neither Halloween-only nor headwear. I think Portrait skin and hair is probably the best place.
On a different note, I'm slightly wondering if it's worth getting the flower and mug portraits on a light-coloured background, like the Sandy background. If we're making them fresh, in any case. --Belthazar451 02:56, 23 January 2009 (UTC)
FYI, I should have some time on Saturday to add these to the portrait item page, if no one gets there first. --Barrister 20:37, 6 February 2009 (UTC)
Flowers all done. I noticed that female pirates hold the flowers much closer in than the male pirates do - I wonder if that suggests something... In any case, I think I'll hold off the mugs until we get a full set, though we're not likely to get any unpleasant surprises so far as sizes go, considering which mugs are left over. I have examples of all of the missing mugs, but I'm not sure it's worth the cost of four portraits (and I also don't have the experience required to get foam). I'm still looking at portraits on occasion, but it's a bit of a needle-in-a-haystack thing. --Belthazar451 05:57, 11 February 2009 (UTC)
Ok, I went and added the mugs. We still need the following:
  • A non-foam flagon
  • A non-foam tankard
  • A post-update foamy tankard, so we can check they look the same
  • Possibly a new foamy flagon
I retained the old foamy tankard image for the puzzle experience section, because I think that it still needs to be represented there, and the old image is actually slightly larger than the new ones I made. Whoops. --Belthazar451 02:45, 12 February 2009 (UTC)

I hate to do this to you, but portrait items have initial caps. So, it's "Foamy Horn" not "Foamy horn". --Barrister 13:44, 13 February 2009 (UTC)

On the other hand, a lot of other things also have title-case caps in-game, but are given only a leading capital on the wiki. Why are we making an exception for portrait items? Especially considering they're not page titles. --Belthazar451 20:27, 13 February 2009 (UTC)
If you look at the other portrait items (like Ship Schematics), you'll see that they're capitalized in-game and here on the wiki. Generally speaking, we replicate the in-game capitalization. There was a recent cleanup of the in-game capitalizations of furniture, trinkets, etc. I updated the wiki to reflect all of those changes. So, I think we're consistent. If you spot an area that's not consistent, let me know. --Barrister 23:35, 13 February 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for making the change. I know how tedious these things can be. :-) --Barrister 20:16, 17 February 2009 (UTC)
Especially doing it twice. =D In other news, I've still not found an un-foamed flagon or tankard yet. Pondering whether it's worth the poe and dubs to make them myself. --Belthazar451 21:16, 17 February 2009 (UTC)
Doesn't anyone have a better image for the Foamy Flagon? The flagon collides with the horn in the image and may not be as cleared like others. --Yaypuzzlez 10:10, 5 April 2009 (UTC)
I've been looking for one for a while. Unfortunately, there's no easy way to search through portraits, so I've just been going through Ult lists. Ult list people don't seem to like the flagon. Not enough to get a portrait with one, in any case. --Belthazar451 10:42, 5 April 2009 (UTC)

Pets?

Is there anywhere on the wiki where we can see what various types of pets look like in a portrait? Adrielle =) 02:52, 6 April 2009 (UTC)

Nvm - found it =D Adrielle =) 02:53, 6 April 2009 (UTC)

Speaking of which, I completely forgot to add the rabbit again... --Belthazar451 02:57, 6 April 2009 (UTC)

I got a new portrait with my Defleur egg - it isn't on the page yet. I'm not sure how to add it, but here's my portrait: [deleted]

promote "Inventory" sub-headings up one level

The "Inventory" heading is barely being used, as such. It is the two headings underneath it ("Eggs" and even more so "Trinkets") which are being used much more. And since we need to have room in the "Trinkets" segment, we should promote "Eggs" and "Trinkets" each up one level accordingly. We can rename "Inventory" into "Additional inventory items". -- Franklincain (t/c) 09:19, 1 September 2012 (PDT)

(Addendum)... Specifically, right now we have this schema:

  • Inventory
    • Eggs
      • Brigand King eggs
      • Easter eggs
      • Ringer eggs
    • Trinkets
      • Brigand King trinkets
      • Ringer dolls
      • Gold box trinkets
      • Flower trinkets
      • Plum mystery box trinkets
      • Chocolate mystery box trinkets
      • Other trinkets

I'm proposing a slight re-organization, into this schema:

  • Eggs
    • Brigand King eggs
    • Easter eggs
    • Ringer eggs
  • Trinkets
    • Brigand King trinkets
    • Flower trinkets
    • Gold box trinkets
    • Mystery box trinkets
      • Chocolate mystery box trinkets
      • Plum mystery box trinkets
      • (Any future new color(s) of mystery box trinkets, in alphabetical order)
    • Ringer dolls
    • All other trinkets
  • All other (non-egg, non-trinket) inventory items (i.e. what was "Inventory")

Thanks. -- Franklincain (t/c) 09:49, 8 September 2012 (PDT)

That's a fair proposal. Might be worth alphabetising the trinket sections while you're at it. On a side note, I just noticed the antediluvian conch image appears twice. Ugh. Guess I'm gonna have to figure out some way to rectify that... --Belthazar451 15:01, 8 September 2012 (PDT)
I disagree. I like the main heading. I think what actually needs to be done is to move the mugs/swords/bludgeons down under inventory. --Fannon 16:18, 8 September 2012 (PDT)
That'd leave ninety percent of the page coming under the Inventory heading, though... --Belthazar451 16:57, 8 September 2012 (PDT)
Which would be accurate? --Fannon 20:17, 8 September 2012 (PDT)
But uninformative. Might be better just to empty out the Inventory header, and stick everything that's not an inventory item into a Non-inventory header. Add a note to the opening paragraph saying "most portrait items are objects found in a pirate's inventory" or somesuch, with something like "in most cases, it's only the currently-equipped item that may be held in portraits". Just a thought. --Belthazar451 21:16, 8 September 2012 (PDT)

As a follow-up to Belthazar's response to Fannon's objection -- Swords, bludgeons, and mugs are (technically) "inventory" items, and yet they *already* have separate sections within this article, at the same heading-level as "inventory" items. Therefore, there is already a precedent within this article. Thanks! -- Franklincain (t/c) 22:23, 8 September 2012 (PDT)

That said, the fact that we're not in agreement means this probably bears further discussion before we go and implement anything. --Belthazar451 22:33, 8 September 2012 (PDT)
Aye.  ;-)   Thnx. -- Franklincain (t/c) 22:39, 8 September 2012 (PDT)
I would agree with the scheme to remove the "Inventory" heading and promote everything that was underneath it. There is not enough information under the parent header to justify keeping it separate. Chupchup 13:02, 9 September 2012 (PDT)

Antediluvian conch

On a side note, I just noticed the antediluvian conch image appears twice. Ugh. Guess I'm gonna have to figure out some way to rectify that... --Belthazar451 15:01, 8 September 2012 (PDT)

Addendum... Regarding your side note about the antediluvian conch... I recommend removing it from the Inventory section, and having it mentioned only in the Trophy section. From what I understand, most pirates who had that conch item opened it for the map inside, and thus only have the trophy now. Also, if Three Rings treated that conch item the same way they treated the ocean-merge trophy item, then I presume it cannot be traded to anyone else. (I presume the item is "soulbound," to borrow a term from some other online game.) -- Franklincain (t/c) 22:51, 8 September 2012 (PDT)
Moved this to its own section since it's a separate issue.
I don't have the conch trophy, but I DO have the conch still. It IS tradeable (I just tested it). I think it either needs to continue to be listed under both, or to have its own little special section. --Fannon 14:21, 9 September 2012 (PDT)

mystery box trinkets -- Ice? Spring green?

We are missing the portrait items for these two colors of mystery box trinkets. We can re-use the existing images for the cloth bag and wooden box of course, but we still need appropriate images for the other trinkets from these two seasonal promotions.

Has any one found usable portraits for the trinkets specific to either of these two colors? Thanks... (I did see two recently-updated threads listed in the Wiki's forum group: this one for Ice blue; and this one for Spring green.) -- Franklincain (t/c)

All such trinkets released to date have been accounted for. -- Franklincain (t/c) 09:46, 15 August 2013 (PDT)

Sail Patching?

Has anyone seen the portrait item for Patching yet? This is not yet included into the section on "Experience". Thanks! -- Franklincain (t/c) 15:59, 14 July 2013 (PDT)

Until such time as we determine the actual portrait item used, I've uploaded an interim "missing image" file. -- Franklincain (t/c) 10:20, 15 August 2013 (PDT)
There isn't one. So kindly don't. I've even checked the Ship Deck background. --Belthazar451 13:58, 15 August 2013 (PDT)

Thanks for checking, Belthazar. But since your main is eligible to use the saw (for Carpentry), this actually gives us two possible answers:

  • Case 1 - There is no portrait item enabled for Patching (at least, not yet)
  • Case 2 - Patching and Carpentry share the same portrait item (like how the three card games all share their portrait item

To test which of these two cases is correct, someone may need to level up an "alt" in Patching (but not in Carpentry). I've got several alts I can try this with; I'll add this to my list of stuff to do in-game. -- Franklincain (t/c) 14:53, 15 August 2013 (PDT)
