Reverted Vandalism by Williamiv

I reverted vandalism here (http://yppedia.puzzlepirates.com/index.php?title=Blockade_pay&oldid=170347) by Williamiv. I saw ye put a final warning on his user talk page, so I figured I'd let ye know here. --Kryptknight 10:32, 19 December 2006 (PST)

And I've gone and blocked him for a week.--Fiddler 10:59, 19 December 2006 (PST)

Ahoys

Ahoy! Ye always put 'Ahoy' at the beginning of your messages, so why never a 'Yarr!' at the end or the odd 'Yer', 'Ye' or some other bit of pirate-talk? It's like saying "I'm a Pirate" when yer wearing a pinstriped suit. Really. YARR!

Are ye scuppering kidding me? --Barrister 18:55, 5 December 2006 (PST)

Blockade History Stuff

Heh. I didn't spot that at all. Some code tweaking and junk - that issue should now be resolved. --Sagacious (talk) 07:41, 29 June 2006 (PDT)

Okay. I'll try to finish my review today then. --Barrister 12:02, 29 June 2006 (PDT)

Ye lost me on that last one. Not sure what ye mean. --Sagacious (talk) 13:28, 30 June 2006 (PDT)

I think he means making it so that you can have special names for particular blockades, rather than just "Island II" or "Island VII" etc. For example, Jorvik XII was the Trafalger blockade. --Featherfin 13:30, 30 June 2006 (PDT)

I wrote the new addition to the code before the update - and not fully understanding what the new code can do yet, feel free to tweak away - I'll watch. --Sagacious (talk) 13:45, 30 June 2006 (PDT)
Well on second thoughts I think I know what you mean, but I should probably just watch while you mod. --Sagacious (talk) 13:50, 30 June 2006 (PDT)
And it's done. Cobalt time. --Sagacious (talk) 18:30, 30 June 2006 (PDT)
Sage version is complete ready for proof reading etc. --Sagacious (talk) 16:27, 1 July 2006 (PDT)

Def/Con Icons

Tried to implement icons on the Midnight blockade history. What do you think? --Sagacious (talk) 17:50, 1 July 2006 (PDT)

I already made Template:Def and Template:Con for the icons. Makes things shorter and easier enter than the full length things. --Sagacious (talk) 13:38, 2 July 2006 (PDT)

Copyright

I don't know if it's really your area (or if you want to do this), but Image_talk:Narrrdenx.jpg could use a little more learned opinion than mine if you're willing to take a peek. Thanks! --Guppymomma 09:19, 2 July 2006 (PDT)

Cannonball Run

Easy enough - it's co-owned, in our opinion. Ig holds the deed because he wanted to. :) And itdoes say that we both built it... --Zava 17:23, 2 July 2006 (PDT)

Oceans template

Heh, thanks for the reminder. I was originally going to have the number of oceans be a nameless value, but I changed my mind on that. That original thought must have carried over into my examples.--Fiddler 21:56, 10 July 2006 (PDT)

Some funky colouring

I didn't know if you had noticed or not, but I tried out some additional colouring on Sage blockade history. Need a seal of approval before doing the same on all the histories, and incase you hadn't seen it, I thought I'd give you a friendly poke. --Sagacious (talk) 02:38, 12 July 2006 (PDT) sorry bout the deleting i didnt no sorry hey can you give me tips on making my page its confusing and do u no how i can get a pic of my ship? talk im jollyrodger by the way

includeonly

Thanks for getting that protected page for me. I'm rather impressed that you spotted it in the middle of that editflood. --AtteSmythe 16:12, 12 July 2006 (PDT)

Re: Swabbies

Ah: I really wasn't sure (Moll isn't a name I'd give to my kid, but you never know), but I figured someone'd revert it if they were different. Thankee. :) --Emufarmers 01:17, 18 July 2006 (PDT)

CSDs

Whoops! Forgot, having spent time removing the image tags while marking dozens of images for deletion. Noted for future. --Sagacious (talk) 12:46, 18 July 2006 (PDT)

Tiles

Aye, I had that thought myself. They're pretty much placeholders for now - I'mn off to bed but I'll carry on tomorrow. I'm thinking a simple "tile-tilename.png" format will suffice. --Featherfin 16:05, 19 July 2006 (PDT)

Patrolled Edits

I believe there's an option to automatically mark all your edits as patrolled; could you go to your preferences and enable it (at least while you're tagging)? --Emufarmers 00:32, 20 July 2006 (PDT)

Portrait tag

Hey I realised after I clicked upload that I forgot to tag it, but I didn't know how to change it.. am I able to? (Sorry for the constant stupidity :p) --Lizzie 02:56, 21 July 2006 (PDT)

An image exists on a page like any other; you can edit its page like any other (just not the image itself, without re-uploading). :) (Just look in the recent changes log at all the taggings of images that go on post-upload, and you'll see.) --Emufarmers 05:57, 21 July 2006 (PDT)

CSDs

Yeah, yeah: Sagacious and I; we're so busy booching things up, you can't tell us apart. ;) --Emufarmers 15:08, 22 July 2006 (PDT)

Question about categorizing

I started to add the "Current Midnight Events" pages and so-forth to Category:Events, but after I did 3 pages I thought that they might be uncategorized for a reason, so I asked Zava what I should do, and she told me to ask you. I've left it with those pages done and will continue on if it's acceptable, or revert those, but for now I didn't want to spam it with unecessary reverts or more pages that will be revereted. Thanks Darkaardvark 17:28, 23 July 2006 (PDT)

It makes perfect sense to me to have them categorised under Events. --Featherfin 17:31, 23 July 2006 (PDT)
Alright, I will then do so until someone tells me different. Thanks. Darkaardvark 17:33, 23 July 2006 (PDT)

Barnstar

Repetitionbarnstar.png Repetition Barnstar
For your valient efforts in deleting crap unencyclopedic content, I hereby award you with this repetition barnstar. To restate: You now have two barnstars. That is to say, you are a multi-barnstar winner. I.e. your are an Administrator with two barnstars. In summary... --Emufarmers 21:21, 23 July 2006 (PDT)

Re: User talk:Emufarmers#Tag, you're it!

I'd do it, but I wanted to wait to see what people thought regarding what I said on Talk:Stall, since that might change things a bit. --Emufarmers 21:08, 24 July 2006 (PDT)

shunned twice

oh come on, i thought it was funny :p. --Lizzie 14:56, 1 August 2006 (PDT)

"Only shunned twice" is pretty funny, but it ain't an achievement. --Barrister 14:57, 1 August 2006 (PDT)

Eternity

You removed the first header on this page. The reason I put it there was to have the content box actually apear on top, instead of - as it is now - below the first 2 lines of content... A flaw in wiki? Am I being picky? Could be both. Fact remains is that I really think a content box should actually be above the content, and not somewhere halfway a page. --Lanks 05:39, 4 August 2006 (PDT)

Re: Contents box
I tweaked a little with the headers. The contents box is gone now. --Lanks 02:52, 6 August 2006 (PDT)

Category Sorting

Not a peev, but why does there need to be Category:Midnight Ocean crews|Crew Name added to the bottom of crew pages, when it automatically lists in the category anyway? Or does it not? Ah that makes sense, thanks. -Rmarzbarr 13:55, 5 August 2006 (PDT)

Reply to pages

Yes, sorry. I thought there would be a sweep of some sort making the one sentunce pages bigger. --soveruin

Don't know if this is where I should be putting it, but thanks for editing those pages, and yes, I think I must have some sort of software on here that did that, when I saw it I assumed it was only blocking me from seeing it, not changing the Wiki, so sorry for that.

no monarch

Thanks for fixing Armageddon! I had a good search around for that the other day but couldnt find the correct syntax. I better go back through and check the others I've done.. --Lizzie 01:05, 22 August 2006 (PDT)

It's a relatively new feature of the template. It's not yet well-documented (or widely used). --Barrister 01:43, 22 August 2006 (PDT)

Problem with Info Box Trinket Template

I am facing problems with my info box trinket template for showing the sea battle trinket for grand master in sea battle ranking.i typed the follwing on my page in the info box but it didnt work:--

  • |trinket=yes
  • |trinkettype=Sea Battle
  • |primary=Grand-Master

without the * and the lines in between.

Please Help!!!.

Thx Lizzie and sry for not signing my comment :P --Ray

Please have a look

I've been editing some of the pages you gave the "clean up" sign on. But I'm still a n00b at YPP and if you could just have a look at following pages ( To make sure I didn't booch the quality): Blackalicous, Bernie, Kadazzle , Gwiddon and Scared Shipless Note: Most of these have had small edits done since I edited , but most of the "Clean up" tags are still there ... Thanks! :) /daemonia

Upload a new version of a portrait

I've tried to upload a new version of the portrait 'Pirates-Ozzimendo.jpg' many times, but still not succed, can you tell me why please? Thanks! --EHemingway 06:55, 13 September 2006 (PDT)

Responded to at User talk:EHemingway. --Guppymomma 14:59, 13 September 2006 (PDT)

Upcoming blockades

Ah, interesting! I know I was thwapped once or twice for adding blockades that had been announced but not actually dropped yet. Why the distinction between events and actual blockades? Usually a "real" blockade is announced beforehand as well. --Zava 05:20, 15 September 2006 (PDT)

Crew Info Box Update

I made a suggestion about updating the crew info boxes to include a couple of additional pieces of information. I posted on the talk about it and received a couple of responses supporting my suggestion. Here is a convenient link to the talk page: Founded Date Discussion I have informally adopted the crew pages on the wiki and have been updating the out of date pages. As part of this it is my feeling that it would be helpful to add a field for Crew Founded Date and possibly a field for Crew Merged into field. Since my suggestion has not received any objections I would really like to see about having it implemented and I was hoping that you might be able to help as an administrator. How do I go about getting it updated? Do I set it up in my own area and submit it to an admin to be moved into production? Hopefully you'll be able to give me some guidance. --Kgarrett1969 08:27, 20 September 2006 (PDT)

Ahoy again. Today is the 5th day after the mesage you left me about the crew infobox and noone has updated it to include Founded Date or Merged Into as of yet. I just wanted to gently remind you that you said you would take care of it for me if none of the other admins had. I know your busy but I didn't think you would mind a gentle reminder about adding those fields to the Template:infobox crew and Template:infobox crew(defunct) Thanks.--Kgarrett1969 07:07, 25 September 2006 (PDT)

Looterati

Oops, that was a typo, sorry. I don't even know if Eliterati is a real word. :) --Angelbeaver (talk) 05:04, 16 October 2006 (PDT)

Third Person V Deletion

Hi Mate; Quick Question - some pages are being listed for clean up / third person etc, and going through them, there is no information there that can be played with, and look more like blogs - why cant these be automatically sent for deletion, IMO they serve no factual information, and clearly the creators arent bothered about it, and use them as blogs. Thoughts? Cheers --Minimoses 04:53, 18 October 2006 (PDT)

That's a fair question. We have a specific policy that says that pirate pages should not be deleted just because they only have "scant information." However, we also have a policy that allows us to delete those pages if they're poorly written or otherwise awful. So, it depends on which way you look at the particular page. Should it be cleaned up or just deleted? It's a judgment call. Feel free to keep proposing poorly-written pages for deletion. Consensus on the Talk pages will sort this out. I hope. --Barrister 05:02, 18 October 2006 (PDT)
Ok great, as long as you admin guys dont mind me keeping an eye out on the third person / neutrality and clean up pages, and are happy for me to propose deletion instead, i will carry on :) dont want to be stepping on peoples toes, and quite enjoy the editing stuff that im doing. Cheers --Minimoses 05:12, 18 October 2006 (PDT)

Editing user space

Sorry about that, I had a presentation on today as well, and had had a really late night and I wasn't thinking straight! --Whitemonkey 08:55, 31 October 2006 (PST)

Trophy page

Amoyer has changed the trophy page again. This time for the flag bearer. Can you check it out (as I have to go to uni now and will no doubt forget when I get home!) Cheers --Whitemonkey 00:19, 14 November 2006 (PST)

Do we really have the skelly slayer image? I can only see the skelly hunter image on that page (i.e. the only graphic I can't see on that page is the skelly slayer image which led me to think that it was missing) --Whitemonkey 23:56, 14 November 2006 (PST)
It would appear that my browser is part of some grand conspiracy against me... no luck unfortunately! --Whitemonkey 02:38, 15 November 2006 (PST)
Here's the kicker... I've got a new computer and it still doesn't show even on this new one... this image appears to hate me. Life continues I'm sure! --Whitemonkey 00:04, 4 December 2006 (PST)
What OS are you using? Which browser(s) are failing to display the image? If you're using Windows, make sure to try both IE and Mozilla. If you're using a Mac, try Safari and Mozilla. I'm definitely interested in sorting this out, so keep me posted. --Barrister 18:14, 4 December 2006 (PST)

Avatar note

Looking at the note you left for Wild lilly you actually got it backwards. The normal naming scheme has the forum name of the artist as the second word, not the last one. But what you told her was close enough that it won't need uploading again.--Fiddler 09:46, 13 December 2006 (PST)

Oops. Thanks for the correction. --Barrister 13:43, 13 December 2006 (PST)

JPG to PNG

Urg, I forgot about the double compression thing. I was shortcutting. Anyhow, it seems you're forming a template for protrait clothing, would you like me to start uploading cropped versions of the originals under the new naming fomat? --Sagacious (talk) 19:34, 15 December 2006 (PST)

Not yet. I'm still playing with the template. But thanks for the offer. --Barrister 23:42, 15 December 2006 (PST)
I was just thinking of it in terms of following the different naming convention now rather than having to re-upload all the images again later on. --Sagacious (talk) 23:43, 15 December 2006 (PST)
The images you uploaded as JPGs are acceptable for now. There's no point doing another upload until after I figure out a good naming scheme. --Barrister 23:45, 15 December 2006 (PST)
I'm glad I asked you to wait. I added another field to the naming scheme to distinguish torso rags from leg rags.  :-) --Barrister 01:12, 16 December 2006 (PST)

Mediawiki

Where would be an appropriate place to discuss getting YPPedia updated to Mediawiki 1.8.2? We're due an upgrade! :-) --Sagacious (talk) 05:07, 16 December 2006 (PST)

You could try bringing it up with Lizthegrey via PM. Three Rings seems so terribly busy, it took forever for them to get the time to upgrade to our current version, so don't expect that it will happen for several months from our last experience asking for the upgrade. --Guppymomma 10:29, 16 December 2006 (PST)

Coal

Ahoy! I noticed you uploaded Image:Coal.PNG. We already have a picture at Image:Trinket_lump_of_coal.png. Did you want to just use that instead? --Barrister 16:10, 20 December 2006 (PST)

That picture unfortunately does not look like a trinket. I feel that lumps of coal look like vague blobs, and they really need the surrounding context so that people can tell they are a trinket. Is there some way to inset the existing picture inside of a trinket-panel picture? Do trinket-panel pictures even exist?--Boothook 19:06, 20 December 2006 (PST)

My Island Flub

Thanks for the heads up here, apparently I am not getting enough sleep and am even booching notes to myself. I'm sure when I freed up some time and got back to my building update progress that would have highly confuzled me.--Muffynz 09:50, 24 December 2006 (PST)

Floor plan

I haven't tested if these scale down well or not, but how about these for tile images?

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v454/pipmuk/floorplan.png

--Piplicus 16:33, 24 December 2006 (PST)

The shading in the blue should be light, not dark. When I scaled it down, it blended in. But really, I'd be happy with other colors anyway. These were chosen mostly at random. --Barrister 16:42, 24 December 2006 (PST)
And I need another icon. There are situations where you can only place tabletop items. --Barrister 17:01, 24 December 2006 (PST)
Okay, how about these?

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v454/pipmuk/floorplan2.png

--Piplicus 17:19, 24 December 2006 (PST)

Very close. Can you make the following changes?
  • Red: Make the arrow darker.
  • Blue: Make the feet lighter.
  • Aqua: Make the table just a smidge darker. And eliminate the T.
Thanks so much! --Barrister 17:26, 24 December 2006 (PST)

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v454/pipmuk/floorplanred.png

Or if you prefer the original:

Refresh the footprint/table image for the new version.

--Piplicus 17:55, 24 December 2006 (PST)

Taint - png

Sure, I'll convert it. Sashamorning 11:14, 26 December 2006 (PST)

I posted the new image... under taint.png. The old one needs to be deleted. I either don't know how, or don't have the permissions. Sashamorning 11:27, 26 December 2006 (PST)

Floor plans++

The Shoppe entry template now accepts 'plans=yes' and 'plan1='. I couldn't think of anything better as the variable labels. --Sagacious (talk) 19:46, 26 December 2006 (PST)

As for the ships - they seem like they could do with a similar style template to Shoppes. I'll sort that out later - and then you can have the same floor plan variables. --Sagacious (talk) 19:50, 26 December 2006 (PST)
This is great. Now I can upload my backlog of shoppes and start adding them directly to the wiki as I create them. --Barrister 21:25, 26 December 2006 (PST)
And the Template:Ship entry template is made. Same parameters as the shoppe tables. See User:Sagacious/Sandbox for my starter with the sloop decks. --Sagacious (talk) 14:31, 28 December 2006 (PST)
I've completed the first 3 ship pages - will do more tomorrow if you don't get there first :P --Sagacious (talk) 19:54, 28 December 2006 (PST)
I'm still slogging through a right-facing estate. And then I've got a backlog of stalls to go through. --Barrister 20:14, 28 December 2006 (PST)
Ok I'm working on the ship tables then. Just one point we may need to consider - as the code for these tables and floorplans is put together - you can see how long the code is. Would it be worth moving the info tables for each article into a subpage, in order to keep the main article code readable? --Sagacious (talk) 08:47, 29 December 2006 (PST)
I already considered that. Although the floor plans take up a lot of space, they're easy to skip past since they're clearly pictorial rather than text. And I'd definitely prefer to have them right there with the rest of the room information. --Barrister 14:29, 29 December 2006 (PST)
I meant moving the entire table code to a sub page - it's pretty lengthy on the larger vessel pages, even without floorplans. --Sagacious (talk) 14:46, 29 December 2006 (PST)
No, for now. Let's see how big things get. We can always move them later. It's not like there's a lot of editing for those pages other than what we're doing now. --Barrister

Hello B, I got your message saying anchor redirects do not work, but I tried them and the Trinket#Winter_Trinkets redirects does work (with my browser at least (FF 2.0.0.1)

Navy Gunning Guide

I am giving you a heads up that I'll be uploading pictures in the near future for a Navy Gunning Guide. I'm not sure if it needs any special wiki stuff (i.e. the disclaimers that have been placed on my Rumble guides).
