Mask
- This article is about the clothing item that hides its wearer's identity. You may also be looking for Mask (pirate), or Enlightened mask, Enthralled mask, or High enlightened mask, which behave like ordinary hats.

Dread masks
Dread masks were once only available in black from black boxes or gold from gold boxes, but since the October 2017 gold box release, gold boxes have given out a number of other colors. They cannot be bought from the palace shoppe. Like Halloween masks, they hide the wearer's pirate name.

Seasonal
Masks were available for purchase at the palace shoppe every year during late October starting in 2006 (See: 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011 Halloween events, among others), as well as during the Carnival season starting in 2008. They lasted for 15 calendar days and could not be placed on a rack or be wrapped. While a mask is worn, pirates' names are not displayed on the overworld view - this is because the mask hides the pirate's identity. When colorable, masks are buyable in all normal clothing colors, though the Ringers occasionally run tournaments and competitions offering as prizes masks in atlantean, indigo, or other unpurchasable colors.

Historical notes
Most masks were first seen during the 2004 Halloween events, however they could not be purchased. Instead, they appeared when a pirate tried wearing a normal hat, where each normal hat had a mask equivalent.
During the 2005 Halloween events masks again appeared as replacements for regular hats, but they didn't hide a pirate's name when worn.
Masks were first offered in the palace shoppe in the 2006 Halloween events, with a lifetime of 10 days.
From the 2008 Event, masks were adjusted to last for 15 days, instead of the prior 10. The Ringers also released tournaments for atlantean/black masks.
Some of the mask types were also made available for the Carnival Blockade Parade event in February, 2008. There were six types available for each gender - the piscean captain, masquerade crown, Chapeau de Bergerac, skull turban, Dottore and octopus masks for males, and the feminine feline, Pantomime, dryad laurel, masquerade tiara, butterfly and Harlequin masks for females.
