A bank is a building placed on a colonized island. On doubloon oceans, they are used for trading doubloons for PoE and vice versa. The bank also contains the Gold Safe where pirates can purchase gold boxes.

Construction

An island needs a completed fort and two completed bazaars to begin construction on a bank. Only one bank may be built on an island. The deedholder of a bank changes with the governorship. The bank has no taxes due and collects no profit. A bank takes up a 5x5 space.

Use

On doubloon oceans, the bank contains a doubloon exchange, similar to what is found in the doubloon exchange section of the ye info button.

On April 6, 2012, pirates could begin purchasing gold boxes from any Gold Safe furniture item. Developers placed this furniture in every bank, and additional safes can be purchased at a trading post.

Storage

A bank has no hold. But the owner may store PoE in it as if it was a treasure chest.

Historical notes

Pirates used to have separate bank accounts on each island. Money could be transferred between islands for a fee. Money held at uncolonized islands was "buried" and could not be transferred. The addition of the Global Purse eliminated the use of bank accounts.
