I liked the banking system

and wish they'd bring it back!

Many of us do. The main reason was greenies not knowing how to get money off of islands? Why not have a Piratey moving service: just click a button and a ship is spawned. You automatically hop aboard and start sailing. The Captain will give you orders from time to time ("Would you mind bilging? It'll help the ship go faster which will get you to your destination more quickly"). Losing battles against players or brigands would, of course, take whatever amount of your money away, however winning battles will give you nothing.
This could also be used to transport from ship to ship. The Pirate in question would simply board the transport ship and engage the ship which the Pirate wanted to get to. The transport ship would not fire their cannons nor intentionally ram the other ship unless the transport was hit first. After a grapple, the commanding officer of the other ship would choose to simply accept the booty or swordfight with the transport ship to try to win more. The Pirate who wanted his money transported would get the full amount unless he lost the battle; in that case he would lose just what he would otherwise have lost.
This would, indeed, create a new type of NPP-ship, the <Transport>, which would likely be carrying lotsa booty onboard... --Ihope127 15:51, 7 August 2005 (PDT)
This discussion is better suited for the Game Design forum. --Barrister 16:27, 7 August 2005 (PDT)
Well, I didn't want the "you're a total idiot" type of criticism right away ;-) --Ihope127 14:57, 20 August 2005 (PDT)

A Separate Page for Burying

I'm not really sure if this is the right place for this question, but I didn't know where else to put it. Would it be a good idea to make an article about the burying feature and use the "obsolete" template on it, or does the bank article say enough about it?--Zyborg22 17:49, 18 August 2005 (PDT)

I'm not sure it really merits its own page, especially since it wasn't an action a pirate could do directly by pressing a "bury" button or antyhing. --Guppymomma 18:16, 18 August 2005 (PDT)

Bank Requirement

Is a bank still a requirement to get a Palace upgrade on doubloon oceans. The colonisation page isn't very clear on this. --Redbeardsage 09:05, 26 January 2006 (PST)

Any update? --Redbeardsage 09:16, 22 February 2006 (PST)

You're best off asking one of the flags that owns a large island. Try the new owners of Admiral Island. --Barrister 12:31, 22 February 2006 (PST)
He's in the flag that owns the island, that's why he's asking, presumably. Though as far as I'm aware, only a realtor (duh) and a market are required. Banks never have been required. Quoting from the release note page when the fort upgrade to palace was added:

"Forts can be upgraded to a palace at the realtor, once a market has been built." I don't see any mention of banks in there (and this was before banks were made useless). The reason the Bank is in the section it is in the graphic is that two bazaars must be constructed before the bank can be built. And for reference Cochineal Island (Viridian) has a Palace, but no bank.--Thunderbird 12:43, 22 February 2006 (PST)
