Extended Public Statement
We are Avalon, named for an ancient land and a distant time. We live by the values of yore—honor, chivalry, truth, and justice. Those who stand with us could ask for no dearer friend. Those who oppose us should expect no enemy more fearsome.
The crews of Avalon include the most talented, most intelligent, most experienced, and most capable pirates to be found in all the Ocean. We may not play nice, but we will always play fair. If you and your crew believe as we do -- if you seek a family that will ALWAYS back your play, if you wish to join us as we reinvigorate the Puzzle Pirates game experience, then perhaps you should consider joining Avalon.
Avalon will not respond to proposals of alliance without speaking to a monarch, royal, or titled member of the proposing flag. Please contact a royal member of Avalon to open alliance discussions.
History
Avalon was formed in the summer of 2004. The crews that formed Avalon were first brought together as Imperio, but following "creative differences" over Parthanos' (the founding monarch of Imperio) role in the flag it became necessary for all but a few of the crews to establish a separate identity. Following the departure of La Guistizia Implacible from Imperio the flag was renamed Avalon, after the legendary resting place of King Arthur. Divine intervention, in the form of Eris, arbitrated a division of flag assets based upon the number of active characters in Avalon and in Parthanos' new flag. As part of Eris' arbitration settlement, Avalon retained control of Spring Island.
Avalon was forced to defend Spring from an attack by Put Up or Shut Up on December 11 2004, from Notorious Fandango on April 17 2005 and from Imperio on April 30th. The flag launched an attack on Emperor Island in the Emerald Archipelago on February 26, but was unable to win the island from The Jolly Company in a closely fought 5 round blockade. Avalon colonized the far flung outpost of Meke Island in the Coral Archipelago on May 28 2005, when the island first opened to blockades. The successful blockade of Guava Island against Notorious Fandango on July 3 2005 made Avalon the first flag to successfully hold three islands. On November 12, 2005 Avalon successfully blockaded Emperor Island and became the first flag to control four islands. Other notable blockades include a failed attempt on Tinga Island and participation in the event blockade of Gaea Island on September 17. On December 1, 2007 Avalon took Tinga from Admiral Finnius gaining a fourth island again.
The Lilliputian Alliance
A phrase originally coined by Shark [1] on the main forums, the Lilliputian Alliance was the phrase used to describe the group aligned against Avalon and her allies during the weekend of December 3, 2005. A coalition of flags including Seraph's Nightmare, Black Sheep Brigade, Black Rose and Tyr's Own attempted to break Avalon's control over the record four islands it held at the time. Unlike notable wars of the past, this weekend of blockades was generally conducted with good spirit and sportsmanship. Avalon successfully simultaneously defended Emperor Island against Seraph's Nightmare, Spring Island against Black Sheep Brigade and Guava Island against Tyr's Own. However, Avalon lost the Coral outpost of Meke Island to Notorious Fandango, yet attacked Seraph's Nightmare at Gaea Island and won. It is generally accepted that Avalon focused its efforts on protecting its Emerald holdings whilst capturing the full sized island of Gaea, and did not exert itself to defend Meke.
