Crew Policy

  • All mates are expected to respond to calls for crew pillages.
  • Listen to the instructions of the officer in charge (OIC).
  • Once in battle, please do not talk to the battle navigator, unless there is an emergency.
  • When speaking in crew or officer chat, English is the preferred language. Please refrain from begging, cursing, or spamming in crew or officer chat.
  • Always remember to team in sea battle boarding fights.
  • Leaving a ship in battle should be actively avoided as much as possible.
  • When aboard a vessel, mates are expected to work at all times. Lazy pirates will most likely be planked.
  • Only the captain has the authority to demote, promote (above officer), or expel a crew member.

Promotion Requirements

Promotions are not automatic. These requirements are a minimum and are only meant as a guideline. Please understand the difference between standing and experience when working for a promotion.

Standing (how good a pirate is at a particular puzzle): Able, Distinguished, Respected, Master, Renowned, Grand Master, Legendary, Ultimate

Experience (how many times a pirate has played a particular puzzle): Novice, Neophyte, Apprentice, Narrow, Broad, Solid, Weighty, Expert, Paragon, Illustrious, Sublime.

  • Pirate - All mates are automatically promoted to pirate when they join.
  • Officer - Broad in:
    • Carpentry
    • Bilge
    • Sailing
    • Gunnery
    • Navigation
  • Officers are restricted to the use of sloops and cutters for pillages.
  • Fleet officer - Met all the requirements for officer and have at least respected Battle Navigation. Pirates will also need a lot of trust to gain this coveted position.
  • Fleet officers are expected to train pirates and recruit new crew members.
  • Fleet officers may not pillage on a ship larger than a war brig, unless a senior officer is aboard.
  • Senior officer - This is a coveted position and is given out at the captains discretion. A senior officer must have the trust of the entire crew, from pirate to the captain himself.
  • Senior officers are expected to run frequent pillages, assist officers and fleet officers, train pirates, recruit new crew members, resolve any crew or flag issues, and to act as captain when the captain is not online.
