Caps!
Okay, I have to admit it: the capitalization of the housing types is killing me. I want to make them all lowercase (with redirects from things like Row House to Row house). "I own a Townhouse," just looks silly. I propose to change nearly all references to their lowercased versions. Thoughts? Objections? --Barrister 18:47, 26 October 2005 (PDT)

Shack
Whoops, it appears shacks are always free even when it's not your home island. And I suppose by 'first one only' they meant only when you don't have any yet. I've changed it back. Remind me not to trust the documentation: "Every pirate can obtain a simple room for free on their home island (check the missions board for instructions), but fancier rooms and rooms on other islands will cost ye a pretty penny." - Nono, I'm pretty sure that if you want a shack, no matter where, you get it for free, if you don't already have one. If you do already have one, it costs.
- I rarely go the the island I spawned on a couple of years ago, so I returned my shack and got a new one for free on an island that I spend much time on. This was recently, in 2008.Siriuskase 18:37, 5 February 2008 (PST)

I messed up the shack image mightly. The old image still displays most of the time. I tried a revert to go back to the first time I uploaded (since I uploaded it twice by mistake) and was going to delete the extra one, but the revert used the filesize for the oldest one. I don't know who has he permission or ability to clean up the mess I made. The newer image is the one with no portrait and "Icyhot" in the room. --Cedricshock 15:41, 4 August 2005 (PDT)

roommates

Lists and more lists!
I'm starting to think that we should do individual pages for housing to get them in categories that automatically populate. It's getting a bit out of hand the number of lists that have to be updated by hand: on island pages, on the housing type pages, and now on the housing (ocean) pages. And then also add in all the under construction marks on each of those. It just seems like a little creative categorying would save some work for various folks. --Guppymomma 15:23, 15 August 2005 (PDT)
- Oh, sorry about the new (Ocean) pages, but I was getting tired of having to check 9 pages to see if there were any housing options beyond shacks on Cobalt. (No, theres not, beyond the Villas under construction on Olive.
- Perhaps this is something for Community Portal or something, but I suppose if some ringer had some free time (yeah, right) they could write some spiffy plugin that could get a list of building type x on island y on ocean z, or a list of islands with building type x on ocean z, or other listy things that could be pulled from the game database (read-only, of course.) Okay, first stab at this. Take a look at Xi Island. It has estates, villas, shacks, row houses, and cottages. So, we'd tag it with the following categories:

Ordering of Room Names
Here's an issue I don't think we've discussed yet, but there's a different standard used on Villa and Walk-Up. How should we order the room names? My gut feeling was to alphabetize, since there isn't a set way to walk through a house, especially a larger one like the Villa. But the Walk-Up seems to be ordered by the general rooms downstairs, then upstairs. Thoughts? – Yaten talk 21:16, 15 August 2005 (PDT)

Editor XML's

- Ok sounds good. I'm going to make up a template for displaying the xml files in wiki a bit later. Currently the <base> tag scretches it out to insane lengths <_< Only way you'd beable to do it is to copy and paste as <textarea> is blocked by the wiki. Will make up a little box(My Wiki-Jargon is no good) at the bottum with instructions on how to use for thoose less electronicly inclined. --Scuz3d 19:53, 18 October 2005 (PDT)

Mapping the house rooms
Can someone put together a map of the houses showing (A) How the rooms all fit together, and (B) The places where the rooms don't quite fit right?

You can add some lines after the template to indicate which arrow (I guess you can use north/south/east/west type things to indicate which arrow is which) leads where. Area to the table
I like the table with the number of rooms, cost etc. Would someone care to add the area (number of squares to place furniture) for each type of house? That would be great so that if I know I want, say, a wordrobe, a table and a so on, which size house do I need? However does this might also want to do the same for all the furniture - how many squares does each take up. :) Thanks!

Transferring ownership
I own a house and wanted to sell it or give it to another pirate. My impression is that I can't do so. The basis of that impression is that I'd expect this article to mention the possibility if I could.
