Thefirstdude (talk • contribs) – I have now been an active contributor to the YPPedia community for almost seven months. In that time I have greatly developed my skills as a YPPedian, in all sorts of areas ranging from diplomacy on talk pages to adding new features and redesigning old templates. My contributions have ranged from the mundane creation and upkeep of articles related directly to myself, to various forms of patrolling the Recent Changes, to creating new templates such as {{Basic pirate}} (Usage) to assist other editors and less-experienced users in starting out. Although I certainly have made some mistakes, everyone does; after all, we're human; and I feel that my positive contributions have been far greater.
My main reason for this RfA is so that, in future, I can be more helpful in updating old and protected templates. The currently-pending Infobox pirate changes would be the first thing I would do, and it just seems to make little sense for someone other than the one who actually made the changes to implement them. I also feel a lot of the usage notes could use a rewrite, and having access to the protected pages would greatly aid in that regard.
Additionally, manually reverting vandalistic edits quickly gets tedious and boring, and I frequently find myself choosing between manually reverting an edit or leaving it for an admin who can come and use the Revert button. -- Thefirstdude (t/c) 12:15, 25 April 2007 (PDT)

Support
- --Arminius 20:18, 25 April 2007 (PDT)
- Very much support. Tfd has been a real asset to YPPedia with the template work he has done (to name but a bit) and so I think that he is a definite yes for me! --Whitemonkey (t/c) 06:13, 26 April 2007 (PDT)

Oppose
- Not quite yet. There is a warning about tone on the talk page that's not quite a month old. Given the responsibility that this position carries, I think it might be prudent to wait a few months yet. I'm also concerned about the attitude taken on Template talk:Rank box. --Thunderbird 21:11, 26 April 2007 (PDT)
- I'm with Thunderbird, although I'd also like to see more non-technical contributions. The treasure drop guide is a fine start, but insufficient to meet my admin standards.--Ponytailguy 21:40, 26 April 2007 (PDT)
- Certainly getting there but not ready right now. The portrait additions to the crew and flag infobox templates were useful but the basic pirate template not so much. -- Faulkston 22:27, 26 April 2007 (PDT)
- I'm with the others, there is room to grow before this responsibility can be given and I'd like to see a significant amount of non-technical contributions too. -- Cedarwings (t/c) 15:46, 1 May 2007 (PDT)

Questions for the candidate
A few generic questions to provide guidance for voters:
- 1. What sysop chores, if any, would you anticipate helping with? (Please read the page about administrators and the administrators' reading list.)
- A. I would plan on continuing what I do currently - participate in talk page discussions of all sorts, reformat pages to fit the YPPedia guidelines, update templates on protected pages, patrol vandalism, etc., however with the aid of access to protected pages, and the Revert and Delete functions, I would be able to perform these tasks far more quickly and efficiently.
- 2. Of your articles or contributions to YPPedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
- A. The articles I am most proud of are probably the Treasure drop guide and {{Basic pirate}} (Usage) template. I am also quite proud of the pending changes to the {{Infobox pirate}} (Usage) template as well as the relatively recent addition of portrait capability to the {{Infobox crew}} (Usage), {{Infobox flag}} (Usage), and their respective (defunct) templates.
