Editing Parrots of Vengeance

Someones beliefs are fact. search mythology in wiki. i bet theres an entry. (by all means tell me if i'm wrong)Mugford

This is no longer up for debate. No matter what you call it, that item was not fact and didn't belong on the wiki. End of. --Sagacious 09:37, 8 March 2006 (PST)

i shall complain about this to the ocean masters. you can't argue against my point for a good reason. its valid. i was unaware that all non senced phenomona where being removed from wiki. i think you'll still find the roman gods and mayan beliefs there. grow a sense of humor!

Sagacious- please do not respond to him anymore at this point. It's just making it worse. --Fannon 09:45, 8 March 2006 (PST)

Ahoy! I wanted to drop you a note about the recent discussions on Talk:Parrots of Vengeance and Talk:River. I noticed that you replied extremely quickly to any discussion raised by the page's authors, often in less than 3 minutes. I appreciate your enthusiasm, but please give other editors some time to look into the situation and respond. Nothing on the wiki (except vandalism) is so urgent that it can't wait for others to give their input. Again, I appreciate the contributions you've made, and I hope you take this as friendly advice. --Barrister 10:57, 10 March 2006 (PST)
Ahoy! Noted - It's little technical bits like this I'm still learning ;-). --Sagacious 10:59, 10 March 2006 (PST)

Parrots of Vengeance protected

I went ahead and protected Parrots of Vengeance from further editing. Until a consensus is reached on the discussion page, it should remain protected. Once tempers have settled, an administrator can unprotect the page.--Fiddler 09:54, 8 March 2006 (PST)

Pirate page cleanup

As you go through and clean up pirate articles, take a look at YPPedia:Sample pirate page. This neatly explains what User:AtteSmythe had in mind when he developed the format. Also keep in mind that, becuase of the varying levels of accomplishments, it should only be a guide. Adding portrait gallery boxes, if possible, is a great substitute for a portrait and help liven up the page.--Fiddler 10:05, 8 March 2006 (PST)

Correcting other's comments/spelling on usertalk pages

It really serves little use, as it only serves to announce to us that we have a new message. Just saying is all. --Fannon 12:19, 8 March 2006 (PST)

I usually refrain from doing it - but the title booch was irritating me somehow... --Sagacious 12:21, 8 March 2006 (PST)

Page editing for new articles

Please wait a few minutes after a new article is created to do spelling and other corrections. Often these are created by users new to the wiki and they may be doing a few edits to get used to the wiki way. It can be confusing to try to save your edit only to have the wiki tell you it can't save it because it's been changed in the first 30 seconds of its existence while you're trying to figure out the new fangled wiki thing. --Guppymomma 13:49, 8 March 2006 (PST)

Makes perfect sense - my bad :-) --Sagacious 13:58, 8 March 2006 (PST)

Deleting Content

While quite a few pages have unneeded content, you've done bulk deletes at some points, removing content that could have stayed, but needed to have cleanup done. Please do not delete an entire section because of one or two phrases that need to go, or because it has to be cleaned up. Leave as much actual content as possible. --Fannon 16:38, 8 March 2006 (PST)

Tangentally related, here's the link formatting guide: Help:Linking. --Guppymomma 16:43, 8 March 2006 (PST)
Thank ye :-) --Sagacious 16:49, 8 March 2006 (PST)

Image Filenames

Take a look at the file naming policy. Feel free to reupload the portraits with the correct name, and let us know if we need to delete duplicates. --Fannon 12:11, 9 March 2006 (PST)

Mark the ones that need to be zapped with {{d}} and someone will come by with a broom :) --Guppymomma 19:57, 9 March 2006 (PST)

quit chaging it back

i owned a merchant galleon and it always had 30 people on it when it was full

Formatting

Why did you make the crew names bold on Hunter? That's inconsistent with everything else in the YPPedia. --Barrister 14:20, 10 March 2006 (PST)

Just a quick reminder; the links on Rexelita shouldn't be bolded. Thanks.--Fiddler 09:10, 12 March 2006 (PST)

Try switching your wiki skin to Monobook instead of the default Puzzle Pirates. I've been experimenting with some new colors in hopes of finding a beter way to distinguish links.--Fiddler 09:18, 12 March 2006 (PST)

How am I doing?

I just wanted to get general feedback from people of their opinions of my edits and minor changes. I'm just making sure I'm doing ok, having been given numerous pointers here and there by others. --Sagacious 14:15, 11 March 2006 (PST)

May I ask why you changed from using your Ice account name, out of interest? --Featherfin 04:06, 12 March 2006 (PST)
I didn't like the username. As I edited more, I saw how your nickname really made you known, I decided that Icex05 wasn't what I wanted to be known as. This new one is much better :-) --Sagacious 04:15, 12 March 2006 (PST)

thank you

Saga thank you for confirming it.

Did you get my answer ?

I am totally lost on how to use the wiki. Is this the right way to send messages ? --Jpcarol 16:41, 14 March 2006 (PST)

Image reversion

Yeah, it's a little too easy to revert an image. Just download the correct one to your machine and re-upload it as the "new" version. Thanks! --Barrister 18:47, 14 March 2006 (PST)

Image formats

Out of curiosity, why did you convert that PNG portrait image to a JPEG? We have a policy of preferring PNGs. --Barrister 01:32, 15 March 2006 (PST)

Image deletions

I'd suggest not marking any blockade or interface images for deletion. Some of those were requested images that were never properly linked; it would be better if you integrated them into the proper articles. Also, some images have been uploaded for the Spring Screenshots contest; make sure they're not linked there before marking for deletion.

As for unused pirate portraits, go ahead with what you're doing.--Fiddler 17:22, 15 March 2006 (PST)

Revert Thingy

Err, that didn't work like you wanted it to. You'll have to manually revert it. Sorry. --Fannon 15:34, 16 March 2006 (PST)

I can reverse the revert, but it won't let me revert to a specific change, as far as I can tell. It automatically reverts to the last version by a different user. So even if I reverse it, you still have to manually revert it to where you want it.--Fannon 15:38, 16 March 2006 (PST).
The way to do this is to view the history of the page, click on the date/time stamp of the version you wish to keep, click on edit, and then hit save. Since I'm not sure what time zone yu're working from, it'd be better for you to do this.--Fiddler 15:40, 16 March 2006 (PST)

Removing too much?

I think you may be removing too much information when you're cleaning up crew/flag pages. For example, you removed the information on Imperial Merchants about who founded the crew and where they came from. --Barrister 20:29, 18 March 2006 (PST)

Category sorting

I've restored the category sorting to The Flood. It's necessary for pages that start with "The", "A", or "An", or start with strange punctuation marks. --Barrister 11:51, 19 March 2006 (PST)

Pirate images

Please use "Pirates" not "Pirate" when uploading portrait images. Thanks. --Barrister 19:30, 21 March 2006 (PST)

Whaaat! Oops..I've always used Pirate. Seemed to make sense to me since it is a portrait of a pirate... --Sagacious 19:32, 21 March 2006 (PST)

True, but more than one pirate is "Pirates." This way the prefix make sense when applied to group portraits.--Fiddler 19:36, 21 March 2006 (PST)
Urg ok. I may re-upload my portrait images so far with new names in the future... --Sagacious 19:38, 21 March 2006 (PST)

Pirate infobox

Regarding the comment you made in your scrapbook: Take a look at Template talk:Infobox pirate before attempting a new template. The conclusion I reached was that without the ability to have defualt values for template paramaters that the pirate infobox would just be too cluttered for real use: i.e the amount of variables that would have to be included, even if left blank, makes for more text on the page than just using a table directly.--Fiddler 19:41, 21 March 2006 (PST)

I'm making a user page template already - which is working quite well. What I meant by 'I feel a template brewing' was simply for portraits. Rather than have to edit each tag, and re-enter the pirate's name about 3-4 times, just convert the portrait code into a small template. --Sagacious 00:44, 22 March 2006 (PST)
