Stubs

Don't forget, we've got a whole bunch of stub types, so make sure you use a specific one when you're updating a pirate/crew/flag page! (The style guide in general is your friend, actually; if you want to become a regular contributor, you should at least run down the list of templates therein.) Cleaning up

When cleaning up a page, don't just look at grammar and content; remember to check the formatting of the page as well; it doesn't have to conform perfectly, but most pirate pages should probably follow the format of having a history and an accomplishments section. --Emufarmers 01:43, 19 July 2006 (PDT)

Well, I was mainly talking about the pirate pages you'd cleaned up just now; there's a format most crew and flag pages follow too, although if there's not much content for a crew or flag, you can leave it mostly blank outside of the infobox and a stub tag. (If you do that, try to add the crew/flag's founding date; you can find that easily on its info page, and add it to the wiki page.) --Emufarmers 01:50, 19 July 2006 (PDT)

Lol no I meant a lot of these pirate pages I'm editing are either "I was in this crew, then this crew, and king of this flag", or else they are random stories about the background of the pirate. Yes, that's about so: A lot of times, I've heard people hold up Llama and Attesmythe as examples of how a page should be formatted, although now there's the sample pirate page which you could follow. Again, it doesn't have to conform exactly; but similarity among pirate pages is generally desirable. --Emufarmers 01:59, 19 July 2006 (PDT)

Portrait thingees

Actually the code you added for the portrait (the infobox pirate stuff) was correct. All you've gotta do after that is to click on the link for one of the pirate's galleries and just randomly pick a spiffy looking one and save it to your desktop. Then go to the pirate page and there should be a red link for Image:Pirates-blahname.jpg. Click on it and you can upload the portrait you just saved to your desktop to that image name. Just remember to slap {{portrait image}} in the summary field. Pirate infobox

Thanks for converting so many pages to the new infobox. However, when you do so please remember to also include the {{oceans|Midnight}} (or whatever ocean it is on the page as well. It was, but then it was realized that there were just as many ocassions where it worked properly as there were times that we had to work around it or that we needed to suplement it. Explicitly listing the oceans each pirate should be listed on works much better.--Fiddler 07:04, 21 July 2006 (PDT)
