Yes, it's enormous. This would be split into Month Year named articles I think. Or something or another like that. I feel like those mini icons are a tad too large. I'd like to rework them size-wise and I'd also like to replace the too detailed for tiny size fries with a mug. I'm not sure how it looks on screens running below 1024x768, but it can't be smaller font or it won't be readable. --Guppymomma 20:41, 24 July 2006 (PDT)
- Apart from the icon issues I think it's fine.--Angelbeaver (talk) 21:01, 24 July 2006 (PDT)
- I like the mini-icons (and, heck, the whole thing!). The only thing I'd want to be certain to include on the eventual page is a color-key for the oceans. --AtteSmythe 23:12, 24 July 2006 (PDT)
- Agreed, it's fantastic. All I'd say is perhaps make the TD and Rumbling icons a tiny bit smaller. --Featherfin 01:13, 25 July 2006 (PDT)
- I've resized the icons and added some padding to the images. The only one that I think might use a little more resizing would be the TD icon shrinking every so slightly more, but I'm not sure. Here's what I'm thinking for the text & key:
The schedule for tan familiar tournaments has changed and these calendars have been moved to YPP calendar. For other schedules, please see the Ocean specific schedules & the applet listed in the familiar schedules category.
This schedule shows dates and times for the tan familiar tournaments. All times are in Pirate Time and are subject to change without notice if the Ocean Masters alter the schedule. The tournament settings are:
- Swordfighting - Bring Your Own, best of 3
- Drinking - Bring Your Own, 2500 points, 5 colours/shapes, best of 1
- Treasure Drop - 30 seconds with holes, 4th round halved, best of 1
- Rumble - Bring Your Own, best of 3
Currently the familiar types for each of the puzzles on each of the oceans remains the same from tournament to tournament, but rotating the types among the puzzle types is being discussed on the forum.

Help me out with the text & all please :) Edit: I do notice the odd shaving off the edges issue in IE with the transparency, I'll have to experiment with that later. --Guppymomma 08:04, 25 July 2006 (PDT)
- IE7 should be out soon. That fixes any IE transparency issues >.>
- Now we have cool colour, maybe you don't need the (Ocean) bits anymore. It would mean all the cells have two lines...making for a nicer layout? Whaddya think? Or, reduce each one to just the ocean initial - (M) (C) (V) (S) (H)? --Sagacious (talk) 08:15, 25 July 2006 (PDT)
- Not everyone is familiar with ocean colours, though. Also, future ocean releases could render initials redundant. How about centre-aligning the ocean parts? The icons look perfect to me. :) --Featherfin 08:18, 25 July 2006 (PDT)
- But, that is why we have the Key - to show which ocean is which colour... --Sagacious (talk) 08:22, 25 July 2006 (PDT)
- I prefer to have some sort of text denoting the ocean for the sake of folks who have trouble with differentiating colors due to various reasons. FF, I'm not sure what you mean with centering the ocean parts. On the calendar or on the key? --Guppymomma 08:32, 25 July 2006 (PDT)

Sorry, wasn't clear. On the calendar. So, you'd have the icon on the left of each little box, and all the text to the right of that. I don't know how it'll look in practise but I imagine it'll feel a bit more balanced. :) Also, the further the discussion about colours - historically there has been a lot of discussion about colour blind people. Note how sword fighting blocks all have their own little sword symbol on, as well as their colour. Diamondblade (or someone) changed his Y!PP files to recolour SF blocks to colours that were more clearly defined in his sight. I personally find it far easier to rely upon the ocean names, as I'm no good at memorising exactly what shade of green corresponds to each ocean. --Featherfin 09:12, 25 July 2006 (PDT)
- Ah. Uhm, it's not set up that way. Basically I'm just using a style div tag for each line of text which contains the icon, time & tourney type with ocean name. I've done this to reduce computation time for table rendering as it's already a pretty large table. It's possible to individual rows or nested tables, but I don't think I can personally commit to converting the formatting to that as there are about 1000 tournaments in divs that would have to individually be switched over to nested table formatting. If anyone else wants to experiment with it, feel free to give it a try. :) The other workaround would be to reduce the length of the lines so they don't wrap by using abbreviations. This would require abbreviating Treasure Drop as not even switching the oceans to a single letter will do it. There's pretty much no way to abbreviate enough for folks running at 800x600 unless you only used intials. --Guppymomma 09:18, 25 July 2006 (PDT)
- I'll give a table the onceover with a colourblindness-friendly test. --Sagacious (talk) 09:42, 25 July 2006 (PDT)
- Also thinking on the other side of things, do we need the text that says 'Swordfight' 'Drinking' etc. - now that we have icons? To me, right now it's still kinda hard to read the table clearly. --Sagacious (talk) 09:44, 25 July 2006 (PDT)
- Ooh, that could work. I think the colours are fine - anything bolder would be overbearing. Leave the ocean names for the colour blind I say. --Featherfin 09:49, 25 July 2006 (PDT)
- Just gave a table the onceover with 4 tests, and it's clear that Midnight and Cobalt colours would look identical to some colourblind players, especially those who have some of the common types of colourblindness. --Sagacious (talk) 09:54, 25 July 2006 (PDT)
- Have switched over to just ocean names with the icons. --Guppymomma 10:06, 25 July 2006 (PDT)
- Now that is shiny :-) --Sagacious (talk) 10:10, 25 July 2006 (PDT)
- Yeah, that's pretty damned cool. I was pondering a different organisation, but I don't think it'd light a candle to what you have up there now. --AtteSmythe 10:32, 25 July 2006 (PDT)

Month Headers
Just another nitpick - the 'July 2006' titles are cropped top and bottom in my browser. Maybe change it from a font tag to a <h1> tag? --Sagacious (talk) 10:35, 25 July 2006 (PDT)
- Actually I'm going to do something different with those. Probably use a table to center them in the middle of the calendar instead of that section of the whole page. Come to think of it, it would be funny to do this like a real wall calendar and hold a contest or invite artists to do a graphic. Something like 850 pixels wide and 400 tall would be good. The subject could be "tan familiar pinups." --Guppymomma 10:39, 25 July 2006 (PDT)
Names for the articles?
I was thinking Tan familiar schedule (Month Year). Any objections? --Guppymomma 13:46, 25 July 2006 (PDT)
Identifying free tourneys?
A thought I had, as an ex-subscriber. Is there any good way to quickly show which tournaments will be free to all players? I've mocked up a little border at User:Yaten/sandbox, but it's a bit messy for my tastes. Any other ideas?
- I'd suggest just using a * :) --Guppymomma 15:09, 7 August 2006 (PDT)
