Pirate pages
Ahoy! You'd put together a layout for pirate pages, but I can never find a good example to poach from. Can you make an example one that I can use when editing existing pages? Thanks! --Barrister 10:59, 8 February 2006 (PST)
- Not sure exactly what you mean. Vainly, I usually just use my own pirate page as a template, though I'll change the header wording occassionally, because I can't decide whether or not I like alliteration there. Anyways, if that's what you're looking for, I put up a blank 'template' at YPPedia:Sample pirate page --AtteSmythe 17:14, 8 February 2006 (PST)
- That's exactly what I meant. Thanks! --Barrister 17:18, 8 February 2006 (PST)
Input wanted
Ahoy! Would you mind checking out the categories at the bottom of Shatterstone Island and letting me know if I've gone off into the weeds? Thanks! --Barrister 18:54, 6 April 2006 (PDT)
- Nah, that seems about what I expected. You know that I'm not a fan of Wikipedia's "Pages featuring the color maroon or a similar shade"-style categories, and I must admit that "yellow-colored navies" is funny, but it reads naturally. You might prefer "Islands with Cowslip" to get rid of the 'spawning' kludge - though that's perhaps a bit ambiguous. Perhaps "Cowslip Spawn," since only islands can spawn it anyway? --AtteSmythe 11:24, 7 April 2006 (PDT)
Indeedy do
For your efforts to, and encourage others to, salvage stubs and save articles from deletion, I hereby confer upon you a suitably piratey barnstar. Regardless of animosity and bodily product-flinging in parley, stuff is getting improved, and given the choice, I think a lot of us have said and done things we'd rather stuff back into our mouths. Hence, here you go. --Ponytailguy 19:54, 1 June 2006 (PDT)
- Thanks. I do feel bad about the confrontation on the main boards, because I really do feel we're after the same thing. I just think we've no idea how to get there, and a different idea of acceptable losses. --AtteSmythe 20:54, 1 June 2006 (PDT)
SD history
I like the way you've written about the SD schism, Atte. It reflects the sorrow and confusion of that time remarkably well. I think the idea of nobody knowing precisely what happened just about sums up how ambigious the entire root and cause and consequences were. :) --Featherfin 10:34, 2 June 2006 (PDT)
- It was hard, but it's the best way I can describe it. I know what the faults are on all sides, and more than acknowledge my own disruptive, uncalled-for behavior, but I still don't know what happened. :/ --AtteSmythe 10:37, 2 June 2006 (PDT)
- That's precisely it. It's like when you've had a terrible argument and you can't recall exactly what was said or how long it had been brewing but you're aware that everyone was hurting. I don't think we'll ever quite know entirely. There were probably hundreds of different factors pulling people in different directions, and the political climate of the time exacerbated it all. Either way, I think everybody learnt some valuable lessons. I have no doubt that it was the experience of the exodus that taught RM that it really was time to walk away earlier this year, before we became overly bitter. --Featherfin 10:45, 2 June 2006 (PDT)
- See, the thing is, I only know what happened on my side of the equation, to put that may infuriate the other side. Plus, is that the kind of dirty laundry we really want on the wiki, regardless of who's page it is? At what point do we write and inform of history, and what should be left unsaid? Just my thought. Let me know what you guys want. -- Quiglin 10:44, 13 June 2006 (PDT)
- It doesn't need to be detailed, and it shouldn't be. It should be written mostly as an outsider's account of what happened. Honestly, I'm fine with copying the section right out of Spuggy's page into the main SD article. Of course, I wrote that section, so I would tend to be ok with that. ;) Honestly, because I don't want to drop the ball on my cleanup efforts, it'll be a while before I can turn my attention to a well-developed article like Silver Dawn's. --AtteSmythe 10:48, 13 June 2006 (PDT)
- Okay, let's say I take a shot at it, and then, you'll need to clean it up. :P -- Quiglin 10:50, 13 June 2006 (PDT)
- Just remember: Neutral Point of View is the order of the day, bitter old man. :p --AtteSmythe 10:53, 13 June 2006 (PDT)
- Just to clear the air, I am not old. I'm younger than you, ancient one. -- Quiglin 12:28, 19 June 2006 (PDT)

Clean up on Aisle 6!
So, I don't suppose you could take a shot at cleaning up Dunny. While I really do honestly appreciate your efforts immensely, maybe you could tweak your notification wording a bit asking people to not add personal attacks to wiki articles. Why there's an entire thread in the forum & the voting page where they can rant away if they really want to do so... ;) I'd clean it up myself, but I find that I'm at a loss for words in this instance. Thanks. --Guppymomma 17:20, 7 June 2006 (PDT)
- Yup. I'll take a shot at it over dinner. --AtteSmythe 17:44, 7 June 2006 (PDT)
- Oh my. I remember his removing Whitefire from the page and Barrister and I replacing it. And yay, my exams are over. --Featherfin 17:45, 7 June 2006 (PDT)
- Best I can do. Sorry to have this happen, but I still view the results of the little campaign to be overwhelmingly positive, in spite of this. Hope you can, too. --AtteSmythe 17:58, 7 June 2006 (PDT)
- No worries. Sometimes you can't help getting a little static in your attic. ;) Thanks! --Guppymomma 18:09, 7 June 2006 (PDT)

Searching Art: pages
For your cleanup project, you may wish to mention that it is possible to search through the many archived art and writing contests on the wiki. Since it isn't a default search, though, you have to check the "Art" box at the bottom of the search results after doing an initial search in the main namespace only. For example:
- Good call! I'll add that to the search section. And we need to work on getting you a main namespace page... --AtteSmythe 16:08, 13 June 2006 (PDT)
Accident? (re: Littlebuddy)
Excuse me but you deleted my Ownership section of my page. Please add it back. Thank Ye! Page: Littlebuddy
- I moved the information into the caption for the image. If you feel it's worthy of its own heading, however, I'll put it back. --AtteSmythe 12:16, 19 June 2006 (PDT)
- Thank you for all of your wonderful yips and comments on my pages. Also, some user put the tag on my Littlebuddy page and i am not sure what elese i should add to it... I will take your advice on making my user page 1472000 more expressed. Thanks again!, 1472000-Littlebuddy
Infobox flagblockade
Thanks so much for doing some work on the flagblockade infobox. The table for blockades are really pleasing. I'll start tabulating them as I go along now (although I'm working along at a slow rate anyway). --Piplicus 11:54, 6 July 2006 (PDT)
- Hey, no problem! I saw Midnight Armada, and the idea struck me - you seemed to be a bit stalled, so I tossed in the link to Ocean blockade history while I was at it. Still not happy with the vertical discrepency, but at least they're lined up. --AtteSmythe 11:55, 6 July 2006 (PDT)
oceans template
Based on a conversation that was taking place on Template talk:Infobox pirate I'm slowly in the process of un-interlocking the ocean categories from the portrait templates. That's why I reverted your changes to Thespian.--Fiddler 14:24, 14 July 2006 (PDT)
- Ah, the sans ocean discussion? Kind of a pity - the infobox has grown into something I would expect to automatically add some templates. No worries. --AtteSmythe 15:25, 14 July 2006 (PDT)
