Whisking instantaneously transports a pirate to a different location in the ocean. Any items held in the pirate's personal inventory, such as swords, clothing, furniture, etc. are carried along with the pirate. Commodities such as rum, cannon balls, and basic goods cannot be whisked; they must be sailed across the sea in a ship.
There are many ways to whisk, including:
- Drinking a whisking potion
- Whisking potions allow a pirate to whisk to any island - as long as they have set foot on the island before, have a chart in their inventory with the island on it, or are aboard a ship with such a chart on their navigation table.
- A whisking potion is a tradeable item produced at an apothecary. By clicking on the item - found under "Potions" inside the Booty tab - and selecting "Drink" from the item menu, the player can be instantly teleported to any island they choose from their yer known world map. If the player closes the map without selecting an island, or chooses their home island, the potion is not used. In the event a pirate selects their home island as their destination, the following message appears: "Silly pirate! You can always whisk home without using a swig from your potion by clicking the button on the "Ye" panel."
- Whisking potions never decay. They are available in two sizes: 9 swigs, and 45 swigs
- Using the /whisk command
- The /whisk command allows a pirate to consume a whisking potion and teleport straight to a named island. In order to whisk to an island, a pirate will need to have a whisking potion in their inventory, and must have either visited the island before, possess a chart to it, or be aboard a ship with such a chart on the navigation table. Whisking potions can be purchased from an apothecary.
- Usage:
/whisk <island>
- When a pirate successfully uses the /whisk command, they will be teleported to the named island and will receive the message: "Ye drink a swig of whisking potion and are whisked away to <Island Name>! Ye have <x> swigs of whisking potion left."
- If the /whisk command is unsuccessful, the pirate will receive one of the following messages:
- * If a pirate does not type enough letters: "Ye must type at least three letters of the island's name to whisk there."
- * If a pirate does not have a whisking potion: "Ye have no more whisking potion to drink! Ye can buy one from an apothecary."
- * If a pirate has not visited the named island before and does not have a chart to it: "Arr, ye can't whisk to any island matching '<whatever ye typed>'. You can only whisk to islands ye've visited or that appear on a map ye carry".
- Additionally, because a whisking potion requires a pirate to have either visited an island before or possess a chart to it, pirates can simply borrow a chart from a hearty in order to whisk to an island once (which will allow further potion whisks, even if the pirate gives the chart back). Looking at charts on a ship works as well, this can be done for both player and navy ships.
- Whisking to home from the Ye panel
- A pirate can whisk directly to their designated home by clicking on the "Go home" button on the Ye panel. The pirate will receive the message: "Whisking away to yer home on the magical winds."
- Players can transport to otherwise unreachable areas for free by having another player use the /job and /invite commands to whisk them.
- A pirate can provide a whisk to another pirate by inviting them to any house or building the whisker is an owner, manager or roommate of. This can allow pirates to transport between archipelagos.
- Whisking directly to a ship belonging to another crew can be accomplished by being jobbed to the ship by someone who is ranked as officer or above in that crew. A pirate could request that an officer board a ship at the designated island and job the pirate, instantly whisking them aboard (the pirate can immediately disembark). This can also allow pirates to transport between archipelagos. You can also be jobbed and whisked aboard ships that are at sea.
- The docks can be used to whisk aboard ships belonging to your crew. Ships in port at other islands or at sea will show up at the docks when a crew member is aboard them. The dock can also be used to access the ferry system, which allows for convenient whisking between colonized islands in the same archipelago.
- Whisking from the notice board
- Many places can be whisked to from the various tabs of the notice board.
- The News tab contains three clickable buttons:
- Houses: becomes a drop down menu when clicked, listing the buildings a pirate can whisk to. These buildings include houses, stalls, shoppes and other buildings that the pirate is a roommate, manager or owner of. Building type is shown with icons.
- Buildings in the list appear under subheadings. Those under the "Home Island (Island Name)", "Ferry from Home Island", and "Current Island (Island Name)" headings do not need a whisking potion, but those listed under the "Drink Whisking potion (x swigs left)" heading do.
- Buildings under the "Drink Whisking potion (x swigs left)" heading have the whisk symbol beside them and will consume a whisking potion when clicked. Players will receive the following message upon a successful whisk: "Ye drink a swig of whisking potion and are whisked away to Piratename's Housetype on Island Name! Ye have x swigs of whisking potion left." If you try to whisk from the notice board when you don't have whisking potion but need one, it will say: "Ye have no whisking potion to drink! Ye can buy one from an apothecary. Whisks that do not consume a whisking potion will give the message: "Gettin' me move on...".
- Inn: This button whisks you to the inn, and gives the message: "Gettin' me move on..." (You will be sent to the inn on the island you are standing on. If there is no inn on the island, you will be whisked to an inn within that archipelago. If there is no such inn, you will be whisked to one further away).
- Voyages: The "Voyages" button will take you to the "Voyages" tab of the notice board.
- The Missions tab: gives the pirate a list of missions they can complete. Which missions are on that list vary from pirate to pirate, including introductions and navy missions. Most missions will whisk the pirate to some building or ship, usually within the current archipelago. The "Defeat the Zombies!" Skellies/Werewolf/Zombie/Vampirate missions will whisk pirates to the island where those monsters can currently be found.
- The Voyages tab: displays a list of ships at sea (if any) that are hiring jobbers for various voyages. Getting hired for a voyage whisks you aboard the ship (unless the ship gets into a battle - in which case you will need to wait until the battle ends, and then whisk aboard the ship from the docks).
- The Events tab: shows a list of any parties being held at shoppes or stalls on the island, and gallery showings being held anywhere on the ocean. Pirates may whisk to the locations of these events by clicking on the "Go' button next to the relevant listing. The gallery showings can be used to travel between archipelagos for free - without needing to use a whisking potion. Additionally, any Ocean Master can create a whisk to any scene as part of an event (such as ship previews, special seasonal portrait ships, and seasonal or special events).
- The Shoppe Jobs tab: holds a list of shoppes needing labor and their respective pays. Clicking the "Go" button which appears next to each job will whisk a pirate to the shoppe in question. (Note: On the Cerulean Ocean, this tab is only visible to subscribers.)

Historical notes
- With release 2004-08-02, Ocean Masters could post events directly to the notice board and let anyone instantly whisk to the event location.
- Whisking potions were introduced with release 2004-10-21. These can be purchased from the apothecary, and allow a player to whisk to any island in their "known world". Naval vessels no longer needed to serve as an ad-hoc inter-archipelago ferry service because the whisking potion can be used to accomplish inter-archipelago travel directly.
- With release 2005-04-06, pirates no longer needed to whisk bury their money or store it in a bank, as it would now remain with them at all times. Prior to this release, pirates had to put PoE into banks or bury it whenever they whisked off an island, or transport their PoE via ship.
- Release 2005-11-23 allowed players to set a house that were the owner or roommate in as their primary home. The home would be marked on the island map with a special label, and whisking home would take them into the house. If an island was colonized but had no houses on it, that island could also be set as home.
- A new /whisk command was added with release 2026-07-06. Using /whisk <island> drinks a whisking potion and teleports you straight to the named island.
- With release 2026-09-03, the "Houses" button on the notice board now lists all buildings owned/managed by the player - with the option to use a whisking potion to travel there where applicable.
- Release 2026-09-10 ensured locations within ferry reach of yer home/current island do not consume a whisk.
