Rolling Thunder is a dormant crew that sails the Meridian Ocean, flying the flag of Sea Change.

History

Rolling Thunder was founded by Sputty and Primeplaya on September 7th 2005, on the former Viridian Ocean, with the purpose of achieving the #1 Fame Rank, along with building a crew strong enough to help its flag into success. The name was chosen by Primeplaya who also donated PoE for crew startup costs. Sputty assumed the captaincy. The crew joined Imperial Coalition two days after its creation.

In November of 2005, Rolling Thunder received a shoppe, Thunderbrew, for its help in assisting Imperial Coalition in a blockade (Tigerleaf III). A week later, Sputty resigned and handed captainship to Dopefish. In January 2006, Rolling Thunder received a second shoppe, Friggin Thundercats, again for its assistance to the flag. However, it was given based on the condition that Imperial Coalition would reclaim it should Rolling Thunder leave the flag. They did this in February of 2006 when the flag Revelation was created, and Dopefish assumed Monarchy.

After disputes over monarchy among other things, Rolling Thunder and several other crews left Revelation. The crew then joined the flag Pride of the Pacific where they were assigned four monarchy positions. These were filled by Sputty, Tombstein, Shadowss and Pandalink.

In July/August 2006 Sputty secured the deal for High Tides Shipyard on Napi Peak.

The Rolling Thunder experiment

On 25th August Rolling Thunder created the flag Tempest for the Rolling Thunder Experiment of August/September 2006 in which the crew RT split into several crews (remaining a crew itself) which all then joined the exclusive flag Tempest. However, on 31st December 2006, Arc Lightning (the third crew created for the RTE) merged into Rolling Thunder. Arc Lightning had already been merged with Fury of the Storm (the first crew made for the RTE).

Rolling Thunder in 2007

At the turn of the new year, Sputty stepped down as Captain and appointed Mouren. In early March, Mouren stepped down and Sputty took over as Captain. On 16th March 2007, Pandalink was promoted to Captain.

On 25th March, 2007, Piers, a senior officer, created the second incarnation of Arc Lightning. He built this crew from the pillaging core of Rolling Thunder, which caused extreme controversy inside Tempest. However, the situation soon settled, with many officers returning to Rolling Thunder, and tension within Tempest dissolved. Piers, however, chose to merge the crew back on 30th March, 2007. This showed a pattern of crews forming from Rolling Thunder and merging back, which has happened many times.]

Minijim, an SO of Rolling Thunder, created another crew (Shadows of Death) in mid-April 2007. It was merged before the end of the month. Atlantis Warriors also merged into Rolling Thunder in late April.

During May 2007 Smellysmell took over Captainship for a month while Pandalink took a break from the game. In June Captainship was handed over to Grizzly. By the end of the summer Grizzly found he was getting less time to be able to play, it was then decided that captainship should go back to Lightning.

27th September 2007 Rolling Thunder left Tempest and joined Sea Change. Once Lightning decided that he was unable to be active enough to be Captain, it was decided that Smellysmell and Zzizzle should Captain the crew together. So in December 2007 Smellysmell was made captain then after 30days Zzizzle was to take over, and so on.
