YPPedia talk:Sample pirate page

Removing the need to visit "edit this page"
Any chanse we could get the raw formation below the image of how the page looks? Then we don't have to go to edit to get it, but can just copy/paste from the project page. I'm thinking kind of how the crew and flag template pages work. --Kinocha 10:05, 5 June 2006 (PDT)
- Done. I preferred the code at the bottom, but the floats got in the way. --AtteSmythe 11:13, 5 June 2006 (PDT)
Page impossible to find
This page could receive some links (perhaps from within the yppedia namespace), but I'm not sure where it would be appropriate... The namespace needs more redirects too, but I'd already forgotten all the keywords I just used. Gail 11:03, 11 July 2006 (PDT)
- This is my one complaint about wikis in general. There are a lot of pages that you end up just needing to know where they are. Pity. But! In this case, I added a section to the YPPedia:Style guide for sample pages. Hopefully, others will step up with sample crew, flag, and building pages to add to the list. --AtteSmythe 11:13, 11 July 2006 (PDT)
Simple vs. complex
Perhaps this page should show a "simple" pirate page (portrait, yoweb links, and maybe a trinket) and we should link to a complex page that also includes island designer, familiars and pets. It seems far too many people copy the entire code, changing only the details that pertain to them, and end up being listed as island designers and familiar winners accidentally.--Fiddler 09:09, 2 December 2006 (PST)
Request for protection
To prevent editors using this page for experimentation, I think it would be a good idea to protect it. It's YPPedia documentation, and doesn't require that much updating. --Sagacious (talk) 08:14, 21 December 2006 (PST)
- Agreed. --Barrister 11:45, 21 December 2006 (PST)
Updates
In light of the recent updates to the template, perhaps someone could add a reference to the rank variable? Also, since I have seen this asked many times, perhaps an example of using it with two different pirates would be good? Thanks. -- Thefirstdude (t/c) 17:49, 21 May 2007 (PDT)
- Knocks* anyone home? :-) -- Thefirstdude (t/c) 19:12, 24 September 2007 (PDT)
- Put your suggested example code here and I'll pop it in. --Guppymomma 11:50, 6 December 2007 (PST)
Can I suggest truncating the line == Contributions and Awards / Contributions and Accomplishments == to simply == Contributions and Accomplishments ==? Only many new editors copy the sample code as is, and that line is way too long to be a heading. Not to mention repetitive, half-redundant, and repetitive. --Belthazar451 19:39, 1 June 2008 (PDT)
Example code
Is there anything going to be done against the text going out of boundries uglyness? --Kamuflaro 01:06, 25 August 2009 (UTC)
- Lol - it does scroll across a long way! Maybe it needs some <br>s in it. Adrielle =) 01:40, 25 August 2009 (UTC)
