how

how do i get my crew rank up to create a flag?

Check out the article on Fame: http://yppedia.puzzlepirates.com/Fame
You and your crewmates will need to puzzle to raise the crew's fame ranking. --Zava 09:25, 3 January 2006 (PST)

Formating

How do you make small and big writing when editing the news?

On an ingame notice board, use the tags to make text bigger or smaller, with 1 being the smallest. --Nickster (t/c) 12:15, 3 January 2006 (PST)

And because you probably missed that, here is the tag, which this time won't be read by the wiki:

<font size=(number)>Yourtexthere</font>

--Piplicus 12:55, 3 January 2006 (PST)

Yep... that was slightly stupid of me :) --Nickster (t/c) 15:15, 3 January 2006 (PST)

Personalised signatures

Since I have no idea whatsoever on this, I'll ask:

How do the more established wikipedians (for example Yaten) create their own personalised signatures, as opposed to the typical --~~~~ approach? Is it some special template, or do they copy & paste it in?

--Piplicus 12:58, 3 January 2006 (PST)

It's a substitution template—located at {{User:Yaten/sig}}. You could make your own at User:Piplicus/whatever, and then you can just append {{subst:User:Yaten/sig}} ~~~~~ after your message. – Yaten talk 13:39, 3 January 2006 (PST)

Thanks :) --Piplicus 14:07, 3 January 2006 (PST)

Actually, there's an easier way. Basically, just stick what you were going to put in your signature under "Nickname" in preferences (top right corner), remember to tick the "Raw Signatures" bit. There's more info in Wikipedia's guide. On Wikipedia, they don't really like the template transclusion method because it uses up server resources - we don't really have that problem here. --Nickster (t/c) 14:41, 3 January 2006 (PST)

Flag Fame

does a flag fame get down??? and how does it get up??

its by pillaging and wining or by the work that the menbers do??

Take a look at the Fame article. From that page: "All puzzle playing generates fame. Fame cannot be lost through poor performance while puzzling, but degrades slowly with time. Fame earned for a crew and a flag (if the crew is in a flag) stays for a duration of approximately two weeks, so constant puzzling is needed to keep the amount of fame steady." It has nothing to do with winning battles. --Zava 13:05, 6 January 2006 (PST)

how

when do i get un band off of puzzle pirats

If it's a temporary ban, you'll have to wait. If not, email banpleading@puzzlepirates.com. See the page ban for more details. --Nickster (t/c) 00:19, 7 January 2006 (PST)

suspension

this is an appeal for a suspension. last night my friend was suspended for one day and when he came over to my house he wanted me to tell his crew and captain about his suspension so they know what was going on. while i was telling his crew about his suspension it closed out of my account and said that i was suspended for a day and i didnt do anything except inform his crew. and he also wanted me to ask his crew about getting his account unsuspended sooner than the time that was given to hime. for this i was talking about the issue and someone must have been monitoring my account cause i got suspended for it. i want my account unsuspended so i can play tonight as i only have time to play on the weekends and i do not want to wait for another week until i can play again. please repeal the suspension you gave me so i have the chance to play tonight. My account is: Toastiscool

Please read Ban and follow the directions on that page. Putting something here will not help you. --Thunderbird 16:19, 8 January 2006 (PST)

templates

Is there a category that lists all the templates? --pevarnj (t/c) 17:43, 10 January 2006 (PST)

Try this page. --Yaten talk 18:31, 10 January 2006 (PST)
If you're looking for a particular kind of template, you can also try asking as that list is going to have a ton of number and other specialized thingees for the charting templates. --Guppymomma 19:04, 10 January 2006 (PST)

promoting to officer

how do i promote someone to officer?

Find the name of the person you plan to promote in the list of crew members in the crew panel. After clicking on his or her name, select the option "assign rank." You can then promote him or her to any position. It will take effect immediately if your crew is autocratic, but it will require a vote if your crew is democratic or an oligarchy. I also urge you to read a bit more and gain more experience before attempting to captain your own crew. --Yaten talk 20:25, 10 January 2006 (PST)
SOs assigning rank will force the change to go through immediately, regardless of politics. Assuming the rank of SO or Captain isn't the original or new rank. It only gets posted as a crew issue if an Officer tries to change the rank of a crewmate. --Thunderbird 20:32, 10 January 2006 (PST)
That includes fleet officer when you said officer, correct? --pevarnj (t/c) 03:45, 11 January 2006 (PST)

copyright issue

Is there any problem with using a template that is found on Wikipedia? I lack a lot when it comes to issues like copyright. --pevarnj (t/c) 13:49, 12 January 2006 (PST)

Wikipedia is licenced under the GNU Free Documentation Licence, which is different to the Creative Commons licence that we use here. We have used some of their things in the past, although I'm unsure of whether it's actually allowed. --Nickster (t/c) 12:33, 14 January 2006 (PST)

island making

i saw that there is a event going on that you make a island and then it is judged and it could be made into a real island...so i am just wondering how you make the island so it can be judged?

You would need to use the Yohoho Tools, although I think the competition is finished now --Nickster (t/c) 12:33, 14 January 2006 (PST)

how do u?

how do u check how much longer of a dubscribtion u have

I'm not positive (as I've never done it), but I assume a "doubscription" ends one month after the loss of 42 doubloons is recorded in your personal doubloon history. --Yaten talk 20:25, 14 January 2006 (PST)

moving my pirate

i have moved to another state and my old cpu got left behind how can i move my pirate and my info to a new cpu for i am the captain of the crew and need that pirate

all the information is stored on the server. Just install the client on your new machine and log in to your old account. --AtteSmythe 14:34, 17 January 2006 (PST)

Pirate name links

Should the names of Senior Officers be made into links like how they are on Power of Moonlight and Morbid Dreams? --pevarnj (t/c) 16:40, 19 January 2006 (PST)

Not generally, no. Creating blind links for pirates that don't qualify for an article just invites people to create an article where one doesn't belong. However, if the SO does qualify for an article according to YPPedia:Policy, then go ahead and link that name only.--Fiddler 16:51, 19 January 2006 (PST)
So should those be de-linked? --pevarnj (t/c) 11:58, 20 January 2006 (PST)
Yes. And it's done.--Fiddler 12:05, 20 January 2006 (PST)

Skellie hunters list?

I'm thinking of migrating the Skellie hunter lists over here to the wiki so people can add themselves and not have to deal with the 180-day restriction on the forums. Problem is, I'm not sure where to put it. I was thinking I could start it on my user page, but that may not be the best place for it. Any ideas? --Gloraelin 21:58, 19 January 2006 (PST)

Take a look at United Pillagers Across Midnight (and Sage and Cobalt and Viridian). Come up with a clever name and just create the pages. :-) --Barrister 02:43, 20 January 2006 (PST)
Since a skellie hunter list would not need the same info as the pillagers list, I'd suggest doing a bulleted name list with "* Piratename". You could go for Skellie Hunters Across Midnight ;) --Guppymomma 07:00, 20 January 2006 (PST)

Defunct flags?

Can a flag be considered defunct if there is no royalty left? United Fleets of Sage has a single titlee. --Zava 09:13, 23 January 2006 (PST)

My personal criteria has been simple existence - there are several Midnight flags that used to be enormous, but now contain a single alt or figurehead, and I've not marked them defunct. This may just be because I don't want to be responsible for creating an activity criteria below which something is considered dead. --AtteSmythe 11:25, 23 January 2006 (PST)
That makes sense. Sage flags and crews just seem to poof instead of remaining in the hands of an alt. I did leave the ones I wasnt sure about. Thanks. :) --Zava 11:59, 23 January 2006 (PST)

Icons/Portraits

I would like to ask....

How do you print or take a picture of you'r pirate that will go on you'r file? And how do you make icons?

If you're talking about forum avatars and screenshots, take a look at avatar. --Guppymomma 12:55, 26 January 2006 (PST)

How to get expert labor

I am a new manager to a disstillary stall and my disstaliry skill is broad but when i check to see if my stall can make a fine rum or even grog, the game says that i need someone with enough skills to do that. How may i get my stall up and making rum soon?

You need employees with those skills--make sure you've posted a competitive wage offer in your stall by checking your "Manage Labor" screen in the stall, and then checking what other people are offering on the job section of the Notice board. --Eurydice 19:22, 30 January 2006 (PST)
