Swordfighting is one of many multiplayer puzzles on Yohoho! Puzzle Pirates. It is available from the tournament board or as a parlor game. Players can challenge NPPs or other players to swordfight. In addition, the final phase of sea battle against Brigands is a swordfight.
Swordfights are played in a similar way to Super Puzzle Fighter II Combo, and Puzzle Kombat (part of Mortal Kombat Deception for the PlayStation 2). The player must combine solid blocks of the same color into larger blocks which are then broken by a cutout "breaker" block in order to send attacks to the opponent. These attacks how up as a sword-shaped gray piece, which then turns to solid pale gray, a grayscale version of the solid color blocks, and finally into solid color blocks, which can then be broken as usual.
All new players begin with a foil, which eventually dusts into a stick; however some may prefer to use the different swords available. New swords can be ordered from an iron monger or bought from other pirates. Different swords change the drop pattern of your attacks.
Swordfighting is free to play three days a week. Swordfighting at sea and via a player challenge is always free.
