Policy on creating articles for crew member titles
The policy has been to avoid creating articles for each crew title because of the wide variety of meanings those titles can have from crew to crew. See User_talk:Whitemonkey#Ambassador. -- Faulkston 20:01, 28 December 2006 (PST)
- I propose we delete and then lock to prevent recreation. This seems to be a frequently occuring thing. --Sagacious (talk) 20:08, 28 December 2006 (PST)
- I created these pages because I, as a new player, saw someone was a 'muse' and wondered what that meant. When I searched for it on YPPedia, I could not find 'muse'. Most of the pages I created as simple redirects to title, unless it seemed sensible to add extra information. It seems silly to have a policy to NOT document something just because its too hard to pin down a precise definition. Rather than petitioning to delete pages that may be of use to someone, may I suggest we concentrate on documenting aspects of the game that are undocumented? For example, where are the articles on citizenship or promotion for example? Remember YYPedia is for greenies too! - Turing
We can really easily add a table to the title page, documenting the possible meanings of the word. --Piplicus 07:10, 29 December 2006 (PST)
Okay, I have changed this page to a simple redirect like the others. Without the "irrelevant portrait" it does not work. Some people seem to take YPPedia far too seriously. The game is supposed to be humourous and fun. Why can't there be a little harmless fun here too? - Turing
- Because this is an Encyclopedia and not a place for 'harmless fun'. --Sagacious (talk) 11:30, 29 December 2006 (PST)
- Wow. That sounds stiff. A better explanation: The article should provide information in addition to being fun. This article provided only a minimal amount of information and the portrait was just a generic portrait of a female pirate. I agree that all of the information about titles could be consolidated in the title article. --Barrister 16:44, 29 December 2006 (PST)
