Title

From YPPedia
This article is about crew titles. For information about the lord and lady flag rank, see titled.

A title can be assigned to members of a crew that are of a lower rank than than the assigner, as long as the assigner is an officer or above. The captain is the only crew member who can change their own title. A pirate's title is displayed along with his or her rank on the pirate info page. The crew's information shows only ranks, not titles. On the information page for single-pirate portraits, both the title and rank are displayed, if a title exists.

While some crews tie titles with certain duties and responsibilities, titles do not confer any special game abilities upon pirates. They are simply an additional name that shows up on pirate info pages.

Historical notes

In release 2009-02-04 the crew titles of blacksmith, forager, furnisher, monster hunter, profiteer, shipwright, tailor, and weaver were added.

Prior to release 2005-11-23, the captain could not change his or her own title. However, prior to release 2005-11-03, the pirate info page would not show a captain's title; the only way to see a captain's title was if he or she had a portrait taken. The title would also cover up the crew rank on the personal pirate page.
