Sword Usage
A lot of swords can be used to play swordfighting. However, only a handful of swords are deemed viable in a competitive environment.
Most commonly these swords have excellent tools to scramble the opponents board with little to no effort - either through strong sprinkles, devastating strikes or a combination of both.
The Falchion and non reversed Saber see the most usage and success by far, being present in almost every single wager. The much lesser viable Skull dagger and Scimitar are only used by a tiny minority and to no avail.
Any other sword than those highlighted above has severe drawbacks or is simply outclassed in every way.
Viability
In general a sword can be evaluated by the following metrics: Striking, Sprinkling, Speed, Recovery, Ease of use
- Striking defines how much small and big strikes hurt the opponent.
- Sprinkling specifies how scrambled layers of sprinkles can be and how difficult it may be to utilize them as the defender.
- Speed illustrates how fast the sword utilizes its power & how fast the game's pace will be.
- Recovery describes how forgiving the pattern is for its user (e.g digging through a scrambled board with occasional clears).
- Ease of use determines how difficult it is to pivot the sword to its maximum potential.
An example for the Falchion:
- All strikes are incredibly deadly and half of its sprinkles alternate, leaving a completely scrambled mess after every attack.
- The Falchion unleashes its absurd power with no restrictions as often & as much as the user can clear.
- The same goes for defensive purposes - simply digging through a board by clearing smaller combos can magically turn the game to a winning position.
- On top of that, the Falchion is the most forgiving and rewarding sword a player can utilize.
Tiers
The swords can be seperated in the following tiers:
S - Broken
A - Very Good
B - Decent
C - Mediocre
D - Bad
E - Terrible
F - Pathetic
Note: Both the regular/reversed Falchion and non-reversed Saber are in a league of their own. There is no sword in A-Tier because nothing comes close to the S-Tier, there is a massive gap in power. The Short sword is the last semi-viable sword, however it shares the same playstyle as a Falchion and consequently is outclassed in every way.
