Allied Saruyama Forces (ASF) is a flag on the Sage Ocean. It was founded on 6 December 2005 and is one of the oldest extant flags on Sage. ASF has been effectively dormant since February 2008.
History
Philosophically opposed to giant alliances they immediately positioned themselves away from Go with the Flow and Hardcore Explorers and turned down some of their members' offers of help when they contended at Blackthorpe I.
After their defeat at Blackthorpe I, the Allied Saruyama Forces joined into a formal alliance with El Mercado Libre and Wings of Fire to strengthen their position in the ocean and to accomplish certain shared goals with each of their allies. After Wings of Fire's betrayal at Blackthorpe II that alliance was dropped. The Allied Saruyama Forces then forged ahead with El Mercado Libre and the two flags formed an alliance ring with Rogues of Sage and Renegade Assassins dedicated to both defending El Mercado Libre's Spaniel Island and to chasing after future islands for colonization in the Pelican Archipelago. Shortly thereafter the opening of Caravanserai Island was announced and Notorious and Outcasts joined with this alliance ring to form a consortium aiming to colonize Caravanserai. After the opening of Hunter Ocean El Mercado Libre took a dormant possition the alliance ring to pursue their dreams on that ocean.
On April 1st, 2006 the ASF blockaded and colonized Ventress Island with the aid of the Carvanserai consortium, most notably Rogues of Sage and Notorious. Sefu is installed as governor. Ironically after thumbing their noses earlier at large flags and alliance rings before the opening of Blackthorpe the ASF now found themselves in the center of a new, large alliance ring.
Shortly after this, Sefu drunk with power at being made governor for the first time engineered an evil and domineering regime change from having several royals who voted on issues democratically to ruling the flag autocratically with an iron fist. This move alienates many key contributors to the flag and utlimately leads to the dormancy of a few of the founding crews.
On May 13th, 2006 the ASF, along with the rest of the Caravanserai consortium contended against Hell's Wrath for the rights to colonize Caravanserai. Hell's Wrath won in the ocean's first (or second, Admiral II was timed to run at the same time and also went five rounds) five round blockade. Meanwhile, Ventress was besieged by the Silent Flag of sage. The first round of Ventress II started during the break between rounds 3 and 4 at Caravanserai. The consortium (the main players, ASF, RoS, and Notorious know refered to as RAN) switched fronts to Ventress and won the first round. While they were away at Caravanserai, Dingybeard, King of El Merchado Libre, in a wonderfully chivalrous display of true loyalty and friendship returned to Sage with some mates and singlehandedly defended Ventress so their allies in RAN needn't worry about returning after six hours at Caravanserai.
On May 20th, 2006 the RAN alliance ring returned to Caravanserai, backing Quixotic Tangent. Hell's Wrath fought valliantly against larger numbers of ships, stock and pirates but ultimately fell, conceding defeat in the 2nd round. Sefu is installed as governor.
On June 24th, 2006, after a war of words and many threats comming from Outcasts and Molerman mostly over RAN's decision not to back them at Kasidim Island, and instead supporting Notorious' bid, ownership of Ventress was transferred to Rogues of Sage via a 3 round sinking blockade. Both sides claimed victory afterword. RAN for continuing to hold Ventress and Outcasts for sinking several RAN ships.
After this the ASF went through some restructuring as Sefu reached out to Rumsundae and Billyb for financial, organizational and moral support, installing the two as the first royalty in months and bringing Democracy back to the ASF.
The ASF dropped two chests on Admiral Island in October and November of 2006, but were defeated in both blockades. Allies Rogues of Sage successfully won Admiral a few weeks later.
On January 8th, 2007, Quixotic Tangent transferred ownership of Caravanserai Island to ASF, Lupeloca replaced Billyb as Royalty.
On March 4th, 2007, Mushroom Kingdom defeated the ASF in a three round non-sinking blockade, claiming Caravanserai as their own. This blockade marked the ninth straight win for the PAM "alliance" over the RAN ring.
Later ASF blockaded Ventress island and went up agains their allies at the time, Astute Tentacle Mariners. ASF pulled out of this blockade half way through, electing to save their fleet for other adventures.
Since then, their noble leader Sefu has been caught up with the hustle and bustle of real life. Lupeloca and Rumsundae both took turns in the Monarchy position to continue with flag pursuits.
In late 2007 the flag withdrew from almost all its alliances, having dismissed their blockade plans. They chose to keep the monarch position empty and employ a group of royalty to make decisions.
Come February 2008, the royals at the time decided to remove themselves and their crews from the flag. They reinstated Sefu as Monarch to keep the flag open for a day he might return.

Why does THIS flag exist?
We believe in bringing together like-minded pirates to provide a support network of friends and a safe gaming environment for pirates of all ages.
We tend to believe that alliances and wars with other flags outside of blockades are rather meaningless. That said, we participate in blockades and always attempt to provide our officers and allies with as much opportunity as possible, rather than bringing in outside help for our pursuits.
We gladly negotiate with other flags that would like to use our strength in a blockade or war, and we always come to the aid of our allies and friends.
Every member of the flag - from cabin people to captains to royalty are equals and are integral for making the flag work. To that end we always attempt to distribute the prosperity of the flag (as well as the work that comes with it) to each of our members while letting each of you know how valued you are as a part of the team.
The Allied Saruyama Forces is looking for crews who are looking more for fun and friendship than overbearing rules. We do ask that you patron our shops and help out with labor, as well as support cading efforts by jobbing with us or our alliance, but other than that our members are free to do as they wish.

Trivia
The flag was named after a flag in the pirate-themed Anime "One Piece", consisting of ship salvagers and a diver.
