Paladin
Paladin was not a pirate. He or she believed pirates are filthy scum. No, Paladin was a civilized citizen of Alpha Island. But now he or she's banned.

Azure
This person's career started out in a backwater archipelago in Azure, called Emerald. Here, he or she quickly learnt that trying to communicate with and educate the locals was more fun than stealing money off of brigands like a filthy pirate. He or she never mingled with the locals, though, always staying in a one man or woman crew. He or she changed the name of that crew about three times a day.
A little known fact is that Paladin could always be seen wearing fancy clothes. Almost all his or her money went towards buying new outfits and sometimes swords. Then, they implemented decay. He or she has spent about 1000 pieces of eight on items that decay since.
Somewhere near the end of Azure, he or she often had much fun fighting skellies with a few regular fellow skelly hunters.
Midnight
After everyone moved to a suspiciously similar looking ocean named Midnight, be it through bad luck or through forces that would get your post deleted if you posted about them on the forums, he or she ended up in Emerald again. After soloing around a bit, he or she visited Alpha Island a few times and learnt that he could find fellow well-educated people there with whom he or she could have mind-stimulating debates and discussions.
He or she also joined Sinking Feelings or perhaps some crew or flag that it used to be at some point. He or she left that a long while back, though, to be in No Quarter Given for about a week before leaving and making another one man or woman crew.
Ice
On the Ice Ocean, he or she could occasionally be seen, bravely testing the new features, until his or her subscription ran out.
Now
After a long period of living on the docks of Alpha Island and being the captain of Null, Paladin was banned for the heckling of people, particularly the kind who did not want to be heckled.
