Marf
Marf is a pirate on the Midnight Ocean. He currently holds the rank of senior officer in the crew Midnight Passion.
History
In late October 2003, when Puzzle Pirates was still in beta, Marf washed up on the shores of Winter Solstice. In those ancient days, when 1500 players on the ocean at a time was a common sight, and the Global Purse had not yet been implemented, life was simple. Marf sneakily used his father's credit card to purchase his initial 2-year beta subscription, of which he only used up the first year, and spent it without a clue. After that, he left the game, and only played it on and off, until late 2007, when Marf's love for the game was somehow rekindled. It was in these days that Marf developed himself as an avid player, joining the crew Villains of the Amazon and spending a large amount of time in that crew, where he even briefly earned the rank of Captain (albeit for only a few weeks). It was in these days that Marf developed his particular love for aesthetically pleasing items of clothing (rather than the exuberant use of black and gold by then common on the ocean), a penchant for elaborate and disruptive humor, and a supreme dislike for the game of Poker.
In August 2008, Marf attended the Dutch Meetup in Bodegraven. There, he met many pirates whom he had never met before, be it in-game, or in real life. He also held a rousing dinner speech, and was the one who came up with the design for the Bodegraven Wheel o' Cheese trophy (for which he did not receive a Dread Masterpiece trophy).
In early summer 2009, Marf was demoted by the new captain of VOTA from his rank as Senior Officer to that of Fleet Officer, by reason of inactivity. Though Marf had indeed been quite inactive in the period leading up to this demotion, the former Captain did not take it very well and departed.
During the Dutch Meetup 2009 in Delft, Marf met up with Kinocha, who was so kind as to offer him a position as Officer in her crew, White Rose, for the sole purpose of giving him the possibility to continue wearing his favorite feathered hat. Marf's high fashionability was highly apparent during this event, as his pirate costume had by now been expanded with a genuine shako, which by this time had yet to even be released into the game.
Though Marf's continuing inactivity maintained throughout the rest of 2009 and all of 2010, he returned in late January 2011 to the game with renewed fervor. He soon departed White Rose and went on the prowl for a new crew. He has found it in Midnight Passion, where he rapidly managed to work himself up to the rank of Senior Officer, and now happily serves alongside his fellow crew members making wisecracks and hailing the Empire.
