The hammer is one of sixteen bludgeon types used in rumbling. It can be purchased at shipyards. On subscription oceans, this bludgeon may only be used by subscribers.

Strike your opponent down to size but beware of return sprinkles. Since the hammer includes a vast amount of bruises in the strike pattern, if the user can continuously strike instead of sprinkle, the opponent can quickly be buried in a 50-75 percent bruised screen.

Creating giant bruise-filled attacks does not work when the opponent is making constant strike attacks. It seems like the hammer user needs two completely different styles. The first style involves bruise-filled strikes, and the second style does not involve bruise-filled strikes.

The hammer is the only expensive bludgeon that seems to require the user to be fast at sprinkling and striking. For this reason, it is usually ranked lower than it should be, due to the fact that most people can't get the hammer be useful.

The most difficult part about using a hammer is the bruise management. Hammer strikes are horrible unless you inject bruises into the strikes. However, you can't make too many bruise-filled strikes because 1) it's too slow and some people can clear all of the bruises on the board in-between these strikes, and 2) you'll overrun yourself with 1-row board drops if you try this. However, if you make too many sprinkle attacks, then the bruises will disappear from the opponent clearing your sprinkles. If you follow a bruise-filled strike with a non-bruise-filled strike, then the non-bruise-filled strike might break apart the bruises on your opponent's board, which makes them easier to clear. Indeed, bruise management requires a very good balance of bruise-filled strikes, non-bruise-filled strikes, and sprinkles.

The most exciting part about the hammer is their multi-row sprinkle attacks. These multi-row sprinkles can compete with the blackjack's multi-row sprinkles. However, you might have trouble surviving long enough to use the multi-row sprinkles.
