File mover permission?
Does this wiki have the "file mover" userright? If so, could it be granted to me? I sometimes need to move image files such as File:Building-Meridian-Junk In The Trunk II.png to File:Building-Meridian-Bia's Box.png (related to article Bia's Box). Right now, as you can see, I just save it to my computer and upload a new copy, then speedy-delete the old one, but that just creates work for an admin to clean up after me, and doesn't preserve file history. "file mover" was something introduced recently on English Wikipedia and others, to overcome this limitation. Thanks in advance for your consideration. Chupchup 21:59, 2 May 2013 (PDT)
- Ahoy! No, we don't have that feature available to everyone yet and if we did, that would be something best discussed with the librarians using the Help_desk. A good alternative in the meantime, would be to upload a new image (if needed) and use {{Misnamed_image}} (Usage) to indicate the correct name it should have. --Clotho 18:08, 3 May 2013 (PDT)

still hoping for an answer here, please. I'd be happy to post the clarification into the fan-maintained page (as per your reply), but I need the answer first... ;-)

Historical crew and flag categories
As per this conversation, I explained to Chupchup that what I was doing was in accordance with procedure. And now, he's trying to start a fight with me again. -- Franklincain (t/c) 14:32, 14 July 2013 (PDT)
- I object to this extreme characterization of my edits which were made in good faith and intended to be constructive, in that they retain valuable historical information and preserve the integrity of the encyclopedia. Furthermore, numerous discussions have been held without achieving consensus. - For starters, let's please not take this personal. I will look into this in detail in the next day or two. However, the best approach is to bring this up in the YPPedia community forums and reach a consensus before proceeding. --Clotho 20:34, 14 July 2013 (PDT)

vandalism - Cubanite @ Papaya
I redacted changes made by User:Otherjenny for Cubanite and Papaya Island (Cerulean) for valid reasons. He's reversed my corrections in error. Per Talk:Papaya_Island_(Midnight), it has been known for some time that the Cubanite spawn points at Papaya were paved over. Instead of documenting this properly, Otherjenny has repeated his mistake. The proper way to document this situation at Papaya is to continue listing Cubanite as one of the materials spawned, but to further mention that this specific spawn has been TEMPORARILY paved over. (I even went out of my way to point out this loss of spawning was a TEMPORARY effect, however long-term it may be.)
Rather than correct his errors in those two articles once again (and risk starting an edit-war), I am instead sending you this message, so that you may take the appropriate actions. Sorry for the inconvenience. Thanks. -- Franklincain (t/c) 16:37, 2 July 2014 (PDT)
Sorry was not being a Vandal, was just trying to update a page item.--Otherjenny 16:49, 2 July 2014 (PDT)
Cubanite at Papaya I've reverted your changes to Cubanite and Papaya Island (Cerulean), for two reasons.
First, islands do not stop spawning resources permanently (not without a deliberate change in the programming by one of the developers). While they can temporarily stop spawning a resource (if over-built), this change will last only until one or more of the offending buildings gets dusted. Furthermore, they must still be documented as having that spawn capability.
Second, the change you made to the island's article was done incorrectly, causing a rendering issue. In addition to removing the entry from the list of resources within the spawn-5 template, you also needed to change that template to spawn-4 (the number after the dash is the total number of materials spawned at that island).

Ahhh Thankee But These resources cannot be bid on at the market NO, NOT ANY Cubanite here matey try having a look before deleting!pirates stuff!--Otherjenny 14:15, 2 July 2014 (PDT)
--Otherjenny 16:47, 2 July 2014 (PDT)
yep the Items can be bid on at the Market, but not from a Ported ship!! So maybe the little Parrot in the Crows nest cant Seas the items L(oo)ky. But the pet Rats in the market, know the spot to dig, even if some plonk built on the commodities!. Still think It should say so on the Yppedia. So yep I was wrong. But well giggles I was also right!-- 17:44, 2 July 2014 (PDT)
- I'm not seeing vandalism, but good faith edits. Now to the issue at hand: when commodities are paved over there is no guarantee that they will return, even if a building is removed. However, Papaya is currently offering Cubanite as one of the options in the bid market, so it does exist there. In the future, I'd recommend starting a discussion in the talk page, that way all points of view and investigations can be taken into account. --Clotho 10:43, 6 July 2014 (PDT)
Commodities category
Ref: Category:Commodities
The majority of the commodities were already included in both that parent category as well as their respective child sub-categories. Chupchup changed a few of them, adding them to the minority that were not including their parent category. I considered this to be inconsistent with the established precedent, so I documented my reasons (above), and added those categories back in.
Please note: I documented my rationale BEFORE making any changes, in the effort to AVOID an edit-war.
Instead of reading my rationale and responding in a courteous manner, he responded with an attack.
Instead of trying to deal with him myself, I'm asking for you to intervene.
Sorry for the inconvenience. -- Franklincain (t/c) 11:47, 5 August 2014 (PDT)
Addendum: How should I respond to this, please? I think I've done all that needs to be done, since I've joined in on the forum thread he posted. But I wanted to make certain I've done whatever needs to be done. (Personally, I think the only thing that he and I both need to do is to ALWAYS think "How can I write what I want to say in a friendlier and/or more diplomatic manner?" before clicking on "Save page".) Thanks in advance. And again, sorry for the mess. -- Franklincain (t/c) 13:23, 5 August 2014 (PDT)
Protection requested
You might want to check in at Official:Mar20 Promotion, which is not under sysop protection, as was customary for the Official namespace... Chupchup 04:19, 20 March 2020 (UTC) -- Fixed. Thank you!
So I now need to make an edit to the above page per new information, but now cannot due to Chups misplaced doggedness. Clotho, since this will now be the norm, please make the following change and expect more needed changes to come in the future:
Change: "Bag (powder, recolorable - (spring green/emerald) or (emerald/emerald)" To: "Bag (powder, recolorable) - (spring green/spring green) or (spring green/emerald) or (emerald/emerald)" Dynasty6x6

User:Bbraich appears to be a vandalism-only account, from his antics two years ago to his recent insults. I don't think much good can come of him continuing like this. Chupchup 06:52, 15 January 2021 (UTC)

Automatic protection of Official pages
It doesn't look like this occurs with the cascade protection from the category (if I look at the protection settings of the Apr23 Promotion page, it says nothing about being included in cascade protection). One thought that comes to mind is creation of a template that simply drops in the category and cascade protect that? Then simply including that in official pages will lock them automatically. --Thunderbird (talk) 02:31, 22 April 2023 (UTC)
- It looks like I was backwards in thinking how the cascade protection is supposed to work... Apologies for that one. --Thunderbird (talk) 15:25, 22 April 2023 (UTC)
Question about DIscord link on the Portrait Background Contest
Is that supposed to be a link for people to join a Discord server? If I click on it, all I get is a message stating that there are no channels I have access to. --Thunderbird (talk) 07:06, 9 December 2023 (UTC)
Wine vampire basin origins
Hi! Apparently there exists a wine-colored vampire basin on Emerald ocean, and I'm trying to track down it's origins. A very helpful pirate suggested the https://yppedia.puzzlepirates.com/Official:Oct21_Promotion to me, but according to that YPPedia page, the basins of that promotion only came in shadow color. Could this be an error? Maybe the vampire basins came in shadow or wine, like the other single-color vampirate furniture? -- Allourdice (talk) 18:32, 29 July 2024 (UTC)
- That promo link is correct. The furniture had the 4.0% chance of being shadow or wine. --Clotho (talk) 00:35, 30 July 2024 (UTC)
- Okay, the link is correct, the furniture had a 4.0% chance of being shadow or wine, but in the case of the vampire basin it could only be shadow, and that's why it says "Vampire basin (shadow)" instead of "Vampire basin (shadow or wine)"? Did I understand that correctly? -- Allourdice (talk) 20:10, 1 August 2024 (UTC)
- There's a chance that's a typo, but to dig that info after all these years would be very time consuming and not something I can promise be able to to do very soon. The best approach to verify origins would be to get the name of the pirate who originally received one. That info would be best sent via petition with the subject line "FAO Clotho". Thanks! --Clotho (talk) 22:32, 1 August 2024 (UTC)
