Clarification needed.
- Because it it only available from one island on each of the oceans, it is generally traded at a high price.
High price isn't due to only being on one island. Many, many thing on Sage are only on one island.
The high price is actually linked to the ringer's target tax rate; the fact that it is high priced tends to drop demand, which reduces the prices that people will pay, and in turn, via dynamic spawn, reduces supply to match. --Behindcurtai 21:05, 7 March 2006 (PST)
- I agree, and have made a edit which I hope clears any confusion up. The only thing I would say is that eventually Sage will have commodities spawning from more than one island as more of them become available. --Sagacious 02:34, 8 March 2006 (PST)
- Unless they plant more herbs and minerals, there will not be any new sources of stuff on Sage. It isn't likely to happen.
- That said, I'm not sure how much better this version is. None of the other commodity pages makes a reference to the price. Although this states that it is only available on one island, again, lots of things on Sage and Ice are only on one island. --Behindcurtai 22:26, 8 March 2006 (PST)
- If you feel the edit is inadequate, feel free to actually edit the article or suggest a better wording here on the talk page. --Guppymomma 21:48, 9 March 2006 (PST)
Effect of merger
The article now states, "On most oceans, it is only harvested by merchants." If I'm understanding the whole process correctly, any commodity is harvested only by merchants if, on that ocean, it's not spawned on any island with a commodities market. According to the chart, that's true of Cerulean and Meridian, but is not true of Emerald or Ice. Thus, post-merger, it's harvested only by merchants on precisely half the oceans (two of the four). Do I have that right? If so, then "most" is inaccurate. Gascony 08:04, 15 August 2012 (PDT)
- I think we generally tend to ignore Ice when it comes to this sort of thing. (After all, we're not taking Opal and Jade into account, and at least those two are production oceans.) I can see how it could use a bit of a language clean-up, though. It is, however, still true that most of the islands that spawn Sassafras are uninhabitable. (And wow did Meridian ever luck out with the Sassafras density...) --Ladodal 11:35, 15 August 2012 (PDT)
