Dark Strike was a crew in the flag Crimson Tide. They were formed, at the start of the Midnight Ocean, by a group of pirates from the Azure crew Invisible Strike. Five pirates, captain Rypken, Sonya, Bowler, Gaidin, and Grimes, made the transition.
Midnight Beginnings
After the colonisation experiments of Azure, the first denizens of Midnight knew that organized flags would be of the utmost importance for oceanic success. Dark Strike entertained an offer from Midnight Armada, but between their small size and an offer of an eventual shoppe from Bloody Seas, they opted to join up with the latter. Their stay in that flag was short-lived, however. Dark Strike left after the being unsatisfied with the flag's handling of the first shop they obtained.
From Bloody Seas, the crew moved to Exsilium. The crew's leadership had spoken with Quixaroo about eventually taking an island with the flag, though the blockade mechanism had not yet been announced. While in Exsilium, Dark Strike helped the flag to make a successful bid on a tailor, Threading a Fine Line, on Alpha Island. Though the crews in Exsilium were successful, their rapid growth proved to be too much stress for the flag, and some crews, including Dark Strike, left.
There and Back Again
Again searching for a flag, Dark Strike made contacts in and received offers from two flags: Diamond-based Crimson Tide and Emerald-based Imperio. This time, the crew chose to change their venue, and signed aboard with Imperio, as Rypken had recently befriended Imperio's king, Parthanos. In Imperio, Dark Strike was able to help in the colonization of Spring Island at the battle of Spring I, and the crew was rewarded with a weavery. All was not well, though. Tension grew between Dark Strike and Imperio's leadership. Rypken ceded the captaincy of the crew to Grimes, and with it, a spot on Imperio's royal council. Disagreement with the flag leadership only worsened, prompting Dark Strike's move to Crimson Tide.
There, the new monarch Misery welcomed them, granting royalty to captain Grimes and titled status to two other crew mates. Unfortunately, crew activity was dwindling. Following a month-long debate, it was decided that it would be better to disband the crew intentionally than to let it dwindle away into obscurity. Dark Strike went dormant, maintained only by an alt captain, and its members each went their separate ways.
A New Beginning?
Several members of the original Invisible Strike got together in late May 2008 and decided to get a fresh start on Malachite. This small idea exploded into a large reunion of Invisible Strike and Dark Strike members, sailing together as Fatal Strike.
