IE vs. Firefox (et. al.)

The whole wiki has some small issues when used with IE. Images and web-safe colors when used in templates seem to be easiest to spot; are there any easy fixes? – Yaten ^talk 30 July 2005 22:01 (PDT)

Generally no, IE is always a thorn in my side because of html code rendering differences no matter how long I've been doing websites :P The only other oddity tends to be an occasional issue with mac's safari rendering. However, the issues with the wiki should be more minor than stuff I encounter :) Just keep testing by viewing in IE and firefox, fixin' as you notice things. In normal web stuff I never use the color names, but maybe we could do a quick check list and pop it in Help:Color as a reference to folks that would make it easy to test & mark if there are cross browser difficulties. --Guppymomma 31 July 2005 08:37 (PDT)

I forgot to mention one other thing. YPPedia is targeted toward YPP players and the game has specific machine requirements....those go beyond 8-bit color of the days of old, so worrying about web safe colors is a little unneccessary. --Guppymomma 31 July 2005 09:01 (PDT)

It looks like IE will, by default, only recognize the X11 colors. Firefox has a slightly larger range, so that might explain why it recognized "LightGray" instead of "LightGrey" (the latter being the X11 color). IE will recognize any hexadecimal value, so that's probably suggested. I don't think it's quite enough to warrant a help page, though. – Yaten ^talk 31 July 2005 09:49 (PDT)

As a Mac user, it's impossible for me to check the pages in IE. Microsoft discontinued Mac support of IE with version 5.2. --Barrister 31 July 2005 13:53 (PDT)

Dosn't really matter. Mac IE and Trident (layout engine) were completely different beasts before Mac IE was canned anyway, with Mac IE doing things like handling CSS correctly. --Mercano 16:55, 10 August 2005 (PDT)

IE annoyance

Newer versions of IE, new fun to have.

I noticed that some trinkets don't display as they should on my IE.

1st Version 39 pixel - bottom pixel row of the doll is missing (doesn't connect to box) in IE

2nd Version 40 pixel - fine on IE

I would be interested in reports wether it makes a difference with other browsers and wether it breaks horrible with some. --Alfwyn 12:24, 6 March 2008 (PST)
