Unable to log into the Yppedia...
Ahoy Adrielle! You cannot log into your old account because it has an underscore in it; there is a bug which does not allow you to log onto the yppedia with any odd symbols, it will just give you the wrong password dialogue. ~Terrify
Yes, it is a conspiracy... /me looks around suspiciously... lol Adrielle =) 23:21, 24 April 2009 (UTC)
Image names
Ahoy! When uploading a file, could you please name the file in the Avatar-Artistname-filename naming convention? If you upload the file misnamed, then an editor must reupload the file under the correct name and an administrator must delete the misnamed file. If you have any questions about file naming or anything else about the wiki, you can consult file naming section of the style guide or you can leave me a message on my talk page. Fair winds! --Addihockey (talk/contribs) 03:09, 2 April 2009 (UTC)
Opal Island articles
Thanks for working on this long-neglected project. When creating the pages please follow the example found at Anegada-Insel (Opal) where Government and History have been replaced with Origin and Current Information. This is meant to direct readers to the German wiki to find the current status of these islands. Thanks. --Fiddler 06:11, 2 April 2009 (UTC)
- Ahoy! Be careful when creating the maps that you get the buyability of routes correct. Routes should only be solid when you can buy that map, and you can only buy the map if there's a shipyard on an island at one end of the route. Since Opal doesn't have the same colonised islands as Hunter, not all the same routes will be buyable, so you'll need to log on to the ocean and check that you can actually buy those maps. Fair winds! --Belthazar451 20:48, 2 April 2009 (UTC)
- Well, in that case it looks to me that the information was just copied from the german wiki. And the map there looks wrong (a half solid route for example). I will try to get the german wiki maps correct in the near future. Another thing we should think about is to what extent we want to take care about information that changes over time and to what extent we just want to refer to the german wiki. No information that will change ? Colonization state/navy color ? Buyability of maps ? --Alfwyn 22:43, 2 April 2009 (UTC)
- There are no half-solid routes. Remember, it's the route that's buyable, not the league. In some places, a buyable route can share leagues with the non-buyable route, meaning that on maps with both of them, the leagues should be solid. However, maps showing only the unbuyable route should not have the leage solid. I somewhat suspect the German wiki's maps are simply copies of the Hunter Ocean maps from here with island colonisation status (but not route buyability) adjusted.

- As for variability of information, most things shown in the infobox are reasonably static. The thing that changes most will be island ownership, pretty much. And pets. Everything else should be fine to list. --Belthazar451 00:05, 3 April 2009 (UTC)
So should I not list pets? Adrielle =) 02:42, 3 April 2009 (UTC)
- I would say "no", but that's my personal opinion. I'm not clear on why we list them for the other islands anyway. =)
- Incidentally, a couple of notes about image uploading: firstly, don't forget image tags. For the Opal island images, the tag you want is {{Island image|Opal}}. Secondly, don't shrink the island images - we prefer them to be life-size, and let the wiki re-size them on the run as need be. --Belthazar451 07:03, 4 April 2009 (UTC)
Ok lol (they are shrunk coz I got them off the German Wiki, and even though it says to click for a bigger view, those are as big as they seem to get). Thanx Adrielle =) 07:26, 4 April 2009 (UTC)
- Ooo, I see. I'll get new screenshots sometime, then, if you're not able (or willing) to. =) --Belthazar451 07:39, 4 April 2009 (UTC)
Thanx =D I can't get to some of those islands yet :S lol - my "known world" isn't too broad... lol Adrielle =) 07:45, 4 April 2009 (UTC)
- I got around correcting the maps in the german wiki. Copying information from there should be safe now. --Alfwyn 20:22, 16 April 2009 (UTC)
Deleting
Ahoy! In response to your message on my talk page, only administrators have the option to delete an article/file. If you want to mark something for speedy deletion you can use the {{delete}} (Usage) template. For more information about deletion you can check out the deletion page. Fair winds! --Addihockey (talk/contribs) 02:18, 3 April 2009 (UTC)
NPOV
When creating and editing pages on the Yppedia we like to keep a neutral point of view thus comments like "amazingly cool" are things that should not be included. Please do not include these comments in future edits. Fair winds! -- Cedarwings (talk) 07:24, 12 April 2009 (UTC)
Sorry lol I will take it off the other 2 pages that it is on Adrielle =) 07:48, 12 April 2009 (UTC)
Ships Listed on Adrielle
Sorry, I like looking through the recent changes, looking for errors to fix and I saw a summery on your page (Ships). Just saying but only Renamed Ships may be listed on a Pirate page --Lcawte 15:23, 8 May 2009 (UTC) (Talk)
- All standard named vessels have been removed from the page as per policy. -- Cedarwings (talk) 00:21, 9 May 2009 (UTC)
- So standard renamed ones arent allowed either? Sorry, I didnt know.
- Renamed ships are allowed, just not default names --Lcawte 09:05, 10 May 2009 (UTC)
- So standard renamed ones arent allowed either? Sorry, I didnt know.
Creative Spot used to be something Tigerfish, but it sounds not renamed. I don't mind, I don't really need to list them tho lol. Adrielle =) 09:20, 10 May 2009 (UTC)
Portraits
All pirate pages have a convenient link to portrait galleries on each ocean which is why we only permit one portrait per pirate page. All extras have been deleted. -- Cedarwings (talk) 00:21, 9 May 2009 (UTC)
I was just copying someone elses page sorry
I keep getting logged out!
Hi! I don't know if anyone knows what could be causing this, but sometimes when I change pages on Yppedia, I somehow get logged out and have to log in again. I tick "Remember me on this computer", and it has always worked in the past, up until the last few days. It is weird. Could it be a browser/cookie-ish setting or something? I am using Firefox 3.5 beta 4 - I don't think I have changed any options or anything, but I might have... lol. Adrielle =) 05:53, 11 May 2009 (UTC)
Avatar Filenames
Ahoy! I removed the speedy delete from Image:Avatar-XxKanGalxX-Ezmerelda M.png, since it is the correct name. Avatar filenames and avatar image tags use the forum name of the artist, not a piratename (see YPPedia:Style_guide#File_Names and YPPedia:Image_tags#Tagging options). That way the link of the avatar tag can be used to get to the forum profile of the creator to contact him/her. --Alfwyn 12:40, 14 July 2009 (UTC)
Misnamed images
I'm curious... have you considered actually re-uploading images to their correct locations rather than just tagging them? An additional problem is that some may be linked to from outside the YPPedia, so that needs to be checked for and rectified before something can be done with the misnamed images.
On a side note, if there's an image that needs deleting, it's enough to just add {{d}} (Usage) to the image description - putting a note on the image's talk page doesn't draw particular attention to it, and just creates an extra page that needs to be deleted.
Fair winds! --Belthazar451 00:07, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
- Oh, you are helping, yes. It's just that you're kinda doing only half the job. Don't get me wrong, you're doing great, it's just that I don't quite understand why you're doing the hard part in finding the correct name, and then leaving the easy part of uploading them to the correct place undone. =) --Belthazar451 00:31, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
- Yep, that's it exactly. You also need to re-adjust any links that point to the wrong image so that they point at the right one. --Belthazar451 01:02, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
(undent) Honestly, I'd say just leave the images with the incorrect filenames and tag them. Once we get the ability to rename images (which reminds me I need to bug someone about that) it will be MUCH quicker then having to re-upload the images. I'd say it's not worth the time. -- Cedarwings (talk) 02:08, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
- Well, I did some of them, lol. It would be good to be able to change the names rather than having to upload them all again... Adrielle =) 02:14, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
- It's really just a matter of getting another software upgrade done here. Then the admins will be able to easily rename images to our hearts content. -- Cedarwings (talk) 02:22, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
- Only 756 images that need renaming at the moment. -- Cedarwings (talk) 02:25, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
- Exactly. Once we upgrade to the version of MediaWiki that lets up re-name images we can a)run a bot script to rename all the misnamed images that had the correct name identified, b)automatically create a redirect from the old name to the new name, and c)keep the upload history of the original image. In most cases of avatar or fan art
that means we'll keep the record of the original artist uploading to the wiki. So please, don't re-upload, just continue to identify the proper names. Thanks.--Fiddler 02:25, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
Ok, cool =) (That is a lot easier, lol). Adrielle =) 02:37, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
- Ooo, using bots to move images en masse... never thought of that. It's still kinda gonna wreak havoc for any files that are linked to other sites, like the forums. Contest entry images are probably the prime candidate here. --Belthazar451 05:49, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
Smartone
Thanks for your note on the Smartone page, I have made the necessary changes to make it YPPedia-y. --Lizzie 08:54, 7 August 2009 (UTC)

Hi, you're good with images, right? I'm feeling stupid right now because for some reason my image for the Seal o' Piracy trophy isn't showing properly. Can you see what I'm doing wrong? (Only getting five hours sleep last night is probably a major factor here :p) --Lizzie 09:40, 7 August 2009 (UTC)

Your RfA
Ahoy! I'm sure you've already noticed this, but your request for adminship failed to reach a consensus, meaning your request was unsuccessful. Don't be disheartened by this, though - it was by far the closest vote we've had, ever. Work hard on those areas where people had some concerns, and feel free to try again in a few months. Just wondering - do you guys know anywhere I could learn that kind of stuff? I've been doing wiki tutorials on the non-PP wiki, but there aren't that many of them (or I couldn't find many, lol) Adrielle =) 08:58, 10 August 2009 (UTC)
- I've found Wikipedia:Help:Templates to be helpful. The MediaWiki wiki can help as well, especially with built-in templates like if statements and the like. Templates can get confusing at times, and sometimes the best way to get help is just to ask specific questions so we can explain it in our own words. Here is an attempt I made back at Easter to explain the function of templates and sub-templates - other posts in that thread might help also, if you can make any sense of my jibber-jabber. =) --Belthazar451 12:55, 10 August 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks heaps! I will check those out tomorrow - I'm a bit too asleep right now, lol! Adrielle =) 13:05, 10 August 2009 (UTC)
I was wondering...
Hi! I was wondering - am I allowed use my pretty showhide box (shown below) on my Adrielle (pirate) page's talk page? At the moment it has a normal grey one to hide the archived talk... Pink would be so much more prettier... (I understand if I'm not allowed - I know there's an unfortunate number of rules about adding pretty colours... **pout**). lol =D Adrielle =) 07:25, 11 August 2009 (UTC)
Editing pages i am taking care of
Hi. You have recently edited my page (Owlwhisperer), without motivating the respective edit. So could you please point me in the direction of the rule stating that i am not allowed to make a list, but have to create a table instead, and also why it has to be "on <oceanname>" and not "<oceanname>", considering they are titles and not included in a sentence. If it is a matter of aesthetics, then kindly tell me why it needs to be huge instead of discreet. You may be interested in this link, refering to puzzle names and capital letters. I have also not forgotten your edit of Aenwyn, where you made up information just to fill the page and unstub it. Thank you.--Saintdiana 15:04, 28 September 2009 (UTC)
- Hi! I just thought it made it a little easier to read, I didn't mean to upset you :S - as far as I know there are no rules about that kind of thing. With regard to the "On <oceanname>" bit, I was copying that wording from the pages linked to from the example pirate page. Also, I was not aware that I had ever "made up" information to expand an article, and I consider that to be a pretty hurtful accusation. When I add details to people's pirate pages, I use their pirate info from in-game (which is linked to in their pirate infobox on the side of their pirate page). I was just trying to help. Adrielle =) 01:14, 29 September 2009 (UTC)
- I am not sure the table meets its purpose, not because of its formatting, but because of the text it contains, making cells unequal or too large for their text (e.g. 2nd from last). It does give each ocean some space, so i suppose it's alright. I did not accuse you, i presented facts. Since you've read Aenwyn's talk page (yes, you deleted that part; and at the time i could not create talk pages for users without user page, i had to settle for that), you know i was objective. Anyone can read your version, and see what i meant. The pirate info page could not have told you about "making many friends", there being only one hearty displayed. And precisely because it's a common sharing effort you should not make up things. Someone is bound to know and edit in their own time. I admit to getting attached to pages i create and keep updated, yet that does not prevent me from being objective. For instance, you changed my "mainly the green oceans" to "primarily on the green oceans", when your own page uses "mainly". Also, and i quote from the Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary of Current English: "sail v [...]3. travel by ship across or on (a sea, an ocean, etc): sail the Aegean in a cruiser." Again, "on" is unnecessary. I'm sure you were incensed, so was i, for that matter.--Saintdiana 10:25, 29 September 2009 (UTC)
- Hi again! It was never my intention to upset you; I was simply trying to help. Unfortunately, Yppedia pages are not owned by any one editor; and as such I don't feel like I did anything wrong by trying to improve pages. I don't check the history of pages to see whether someone else is "taking care of" it. I just try to help where I can. Feel free to revert my edits if you believe they are inadequate. Adrielle =) 11:01, 29 September 2009 (UTC)
- Actually you should check histories on principle, to see if there was a very recent edit, which might indicate someone could still be working on that page. And i am not claiming ownership. I just disapprove of fixing what doesn't need to be fixed, thus alluding i did it wrongly, when i did not.--Saintdiana 11:19, 29 September 2009 (UTC)
- I stalk the "recent changes" page. It shows a list of recent edits =). I never meant to allude that you did it wrongly. As I said, I was just trying to help. Adrielle =) 11:24, 29 September 2009 (UTC)

A couple of notes
Ahoy! Just wanted to leave you a message regarding some of your recent edits. When creating building pages for buildings that are still under construction please leave the erected= parameter set to no. This refers to the building being erected not the construction site. Also, I noticed that you had created a bunch of building pages recently that you were putting {{clear}} before the {{buildingstub}}. This is not necessary. About 2.5 years ago I added the {{clear}} code to all of the stub templates. Fair winds! -- Cedarwings (talk) 01:36, 29 November 2009 (UTC)

Image tag
Ah - I found it! {{contestentry|2=[http://forums.puzzlepirates.com/community/mvnforum/viewthread?thread=117128 2008 Holiday Pirate Arrt Contest]|sapest}}- you might want to remove this after so your talk page isn't a contest entry :) --Addihockey (talk•contribs) 22:47, 3 October 2010 (UTC)
- Wait a minute, that isn't an entry :P. Hmm, perhaps whipping up a new template for it in your userspace? --Addihockey (talk•contribs) 22:49, 3 October 2010 (UTC)
- I'm not sure - my brain is not really functioning as it should right now lol! I might be able to look at it tomorrow. --Adrielle ♥ =) 08:53, 4 October 2010 (UTC)

Check out this guideline on Wikipedia and the resulting discussion here on YPPedia about links to redirects. Chupchup 18:43, 3 January 2012 (PST)
- The discussion makes it seem like you are the only person who has a problem with doing this... Does it really hurt if I tidy them up? --Adrielle ♥ =) 18:50, 3 January 2012 (PST)
- As I have explained and Wikipedia shows as well, the links are not broken in the first place, they show where new articles can be useful, and they make better use of the "What links here" tool - so yes it does hurt if you "tidy them up" Chupchup 21:22, 3 January 2012 (PST)
- I'm sorry, but I don't really agree with you. I believe that creating a separate article for King and Queen, or for Lord and Lady (and other such pages) in the future would be redundant, as the information already exists on the Monarch and Titled pages. I don't see a need to reproduce the content on the Monarch and Titled pages in separate articles for each gender. This is why I believe that avoiding the redirect by going straight to the relevant page serves to make things neater and more precise. However, I am not going to lose sleep over leaving it messy/redirecty, if that is what the community would prefer. My intention was to help, not to hinder. --Adrielle ♥ =) 23:26, 3 January 2012 (PST)

Pirate Updating
Psst. Ribero is Ribero-East. --Belthazar451 16:55, 5 February 2012 (PST)
- Weird! I must have spelled it wrong when I looked! Thanks! =D --Adrielle ♥ =) 19:45, 5 February 2012 (PST)
- Um - Just a quick question - why does the image file for Ribero-east say that nothing links to it, when the image is showing on his pirate page? Did I do something wrong? *blinks* Also, should '-east' and '-west' be '-East' and '-West' (the way they are in-game)? --Adrielle ♥ =) 19:55, 5 February 2012 (PST)
- The pirate infobox is automatically set to take what gets input and capitalise only the first letter - this was to prevent people from capitalising their names wrongly, like "JackSparrow", or forgetting to capitalise at all. We needed to implement an exception for the BKs, since they have multi-word names. Are we going to need to make another exception for East and West pirates? Sometimes it seems that the more work we do on this merge, the more work there is left to do... --Belthazar451 22:02, 5 February 2012 (PST)
- Poor Bel *pats* --Adrielle ♥ =) 01:50, 6 February 2012 (PST)
- I haven't seen any discussion about it on the forums yet, but on Emerald we have started to see pirates with mIXeD cAsE names. Greeters are not sure if this is a bug or a new thing, but if it's not a bug, we're soon going to start seeing pirate pages that reflect the new cases - and I'm going to want a rename to LJAmethyst... Psst
The ocean parameter on the house templates is actually unused. It is an artifact of the times when not all island articles had their ocean name in them ;). --Thunderbird 00:57, 27 March 2012 (PDT)
- Oh! Thanks! I couldn't work out what they were used for, but I figured I would just update them anyway =D --Adrielle ♥ =) 00:59, 27 March 2012 (PDT)
- Pondering if it's worth re-implementing them so that we can suppress the old ocean islands from appearing in the "Islands with X" categories... --Belthazar451 03:57, 27 March 2012 (PDT)
My hero. :)
It never even crossed my mind to try uploading a new copy of the images that got booched by their accent marks. What did I ever do without you? <3 --Budclare2 11:37, 24 April 2017 (UTC)
- I had to get rid of the automaticly-generated '%' part of the filename to get it working :). I couldn't find a copy of the missing portrait background image by Tritón tho... The forums used the (now missing) wiki image... but I have a couple of ideas to try... I like a puzzle! --Adrielle ♥ =) 13:51, 24 April 2017 (UTC)
- Fixed :) --Adrielle ♥ =) 14:57, 24 April 2017 (UTC)
- In theory, the images were still...somewhere, because the other accent marks were fixed a while ago. Unless they magically started working again on their own... --Budclare2 10:23, 27 April 2017 (UTC)
FYI: Image moves
I think it is possible for standard users to move images these days, instead of uploading to a new file and having the old deleted. I swear I've seen someone do it, but the move log doesn't work for me these days, so I cannot double-check that. --Thunderbird (talk) 14:45, 13 December 2023 (UTC)
