The stick decaying bit is confusing -- sticks never crumble, which should probably be mentioned somewhere. I'm also halfway-convinced (can't easily verify it, though) that sticks remain old forever, they aren't "replaced" like the article says. – Yaten talk 14:17, 1 August 2005 (PDT)
- I don't believe sticks decay either. We must carry at least one of certain inventory items: clothing top and bottom, and a sword. If you carry only one of any of those items, and it dusts, it is replaced by the "worst" available (rags/stick). In the case of rags, when they dust, if you hold another article of clothing, the rags simply dissappear: they are not replaced with more rags unless you have no other top/bottom to replace it. If sticks did eventually decay, I expect that like rags, they would not be replaced unless you had no other swords, yet I know some pirates that (claim to) carry over 300 sticks. Also I never saw a "your stick has decayed" message when I used to carry one, and I held it through several other swords, with both long and short lifespans.
- I'm changing the page to indicate no decay, if anyone finds evidence to the contrary, footnote the evidence. — Callistan (talk/contrib) 15:42, 1 August 2005 (PDT)
- I have found evidence to the contrary. Of all my sticks, it only let me rack a few, the rest is 'too old to put on a rack'. So I asked around and I heard that people have had sticks crumble. -Paladin
- Two weeks ago I bought a sword rack and went to rack my sticks. Two of them were too old to rack. However, after two weeks of logging in daily, they still haven't crumbled. I'm still counting to see how long, if ever, it will be until they crumble.--Fiddler 16:19, 30 August 2005 (PDT)
- Yes, I've never had a stick decay myself, but that could mean it's just very, very slow. -Paladin
Stick creation
I have two sticks on Cobalt somehow. I have never gotten one from anyone else, but I had two swords dust (the starting foil, and a skull dagger that a hearty gave me on a voyage and let me keep (it was old anyhow)). --Thunderbird 11:47, 21 April 2006 (PDT)
