Talk:Rumble strike calculations
Boothook, I lurve this page, and your dedication to rumbling and to making this information widely-known. That said, can move this page to "Rumble strike calculations?" It's a factual article, and other knowledgeable mates should be encouraged to help maintain it (c.f. Ramming). --AtteSmythe 13:54, 1 August 2006 (PDT)

I'd like to propose putting the data into tables for neatness. If nobody objects to this, I'll get started on it shortly. --Poochy 13:26, 12 August 2006 (PDT)
Underscores
I'm not sure what the point of making them white would be. The tables would then look exactly like they did before you put them in. --Guppymomma 17:54, 12 August 2006 (PDT)
- In the IE6 browser, cells without characters do not have a border. This caused some of the gridlines to be missing. But people might wonder why there are underscores in the empty cells. I agree that it would look very similar though.--Boothook 05:53, 13 August 2006 (PDT)
- I don't know that folks would find the missing gridlines overly onerous. You could potentially just use a dash instead of an underscore or a question mark if the info has yet to be filled in and None for things that have no notes. I've swapped out the underscores for a graphic instead though. --Guppymomma 07:00, 14 August 2006 (PDT)
- Umm just put &nb sp; with no spaces. It fills the cell with blank content, forcing a border to appear. --Sagacious (talk) 07:02, 14 August 2006 (PDT)
- Thanks! --Boothook 16:10, 14 August 2006 (PDT)
- I tend to use the graphic because it's obvious that it's an image whereas the nbsp is not something most non-html editors would know what it is. --Guppymomma 19:37, 14 August 2006 (PDT)

Bruises
This page is great! It could also use some mention of the number of bruises contained in a strike - if that calculation isn't as well known, some general comment would still be helpful --Kerix 05:17, 9 June 2007 (PDT)

Instas
What happens when there are more than 8 groups in a single combo? This makes it seem like it is useless to attempt more than 8 at once.
- The height just keeps increasing, although it will be truncated if it would push your opponent's screen past the bottom. This means the number of groups to do an insta depends on how full their screen is already, but it generally takes 10-15 groups.
Height Modifiers
The width modifiers are well-documented, but does anyone have an idea on how the height modifiers work? For instance, a 6 group strike with 20 bruises (capped at 18, I know) makes a regular 6 group strike with 18 bruises. The interesting part is, if you follow that up immediately with a 5 group strike with 20 bruises, the 5 group strike gets +1 to it's height and effectively becomes a 6 group strike with max bruises. Pretty much evidence a height modifier is in place somewhere.
- I've noticed this as well; in doing a 14 group strike, I've gotten heights varying wildly in the range 14-20. Weird! --Kiv
