Talk:Release 2007-03-21

There has been a bit of confusion with the people I play with on how the new division system works. The release notes say that after combat that it auto divides 75% of the loot to the crew, and the remaining 25% goes toward the ship restock. However there doesn't seem to be any way to shift this percent to something like 70% crew and 30% ship. Also there seems to be no way for the captain dock a loafer's pay with this new system. We found that you can still divide the ship's hold when you reach an island, but anything you take out of this for the crew is cutting into the ship's cut. That is if you went out to sea and pillaged 10,000 poe over 5 battles with a crew of five people, the system will automatically make sure that on an even share set up that each crew member gets 1,500 poe over the full voyage, while the ship keeps 2,500 poe for restock. However if one person loafed during one of the battles or didn't follow orders he would normally get docked pay and would only receive 1,250 poe while each of the other crew members receives about 1,562 poe with the ship getting about 2,502 poe.

However with this new system it seems everyone would still get paid the 1,500 during the voyage, but at the end of the voyage you could dip into the 2,500 restock to give hard workers extra pay. But you are still doing it with the old pillage booty division system. It appears that if you attempt to use the old booty system to adjust the pay of your crew, that you'll be cutting your restock money all the way down to 625 poe, and each crew person perhaps getting a bonus of 375 poe. This seems completely insane this way, and while I do like the idea of an auto booty system that is done while at sea, I do think that the ship's captain needs more control over how the booty is divided. --Djsyntic 22:33, 21 March 2007 (PDT)

No, the way I understand it, it is 75% get divided straight away with the the usual percentage going for restock, so 30% (if that is your restock) of that 75% goes straight into the coffers. At the end of the voyage you get to divide the 25% that went into the booty, (and again that 30% goes to restock). -- Vorky 03:56, 22 March 2007 (PDT)

This isn't really the spot to talk about Game Design. It will be better heard at http://forums.puzzlepirates.com/community/mvnforum/viewthread?thread=60406 Talk pages here are for discussing the writing of wiki pages - developers don't tend to read them as much as they do the forum stuff. --Guppymomma 09:38, 22 March 2007 (PDT)
