do storage furniture keep items from decaying —Preceding unsigned comment added by Menachem (talk • contribs)
- Yes. See the Decay page for more information on how this works. (Edit: She says, five years after the question was asked...) --Ladodal 05:49, 24 June 2012 (PDT)
All chests hold the same amount of PoE.
Is there a cap, or is it unlimited? Billynoleg 16:53, 29 January 2009 (UTC)
- I would suspect it's limited only by the amount of space allocated for the variable in the game data. If it's 32 bits (unsigned), then we're talking just under 4.3 billion poe. I don't really know how they do it, though - it might even be dynamically allocated, making it theoretically limitless (though the OMs would probably start taking notice when the amount of your stored poe starts passing the 64-bit mark...) --Belthazar451 07:12, 31 January 2009 (UTC)
PoE in chest - linked to House? or to specific Room (Scene)?
In the case of multiple chests within different rooms (i.e. different scenes) within the same house, is their money stored in the same coffer, as implied in the second paragraph? Or do they have separate coffers (each linked to its corresponding room/scene), as implied in the third paragraph. These two paragraphs contradict one another in this regards. Since I do not have access to a house having more than one room (i.e. all I've got are shacks), I cannot determine this for myself. I'd be grateful for someone to investigate this and get confirmation, please. -- Franklincain (t/c) 10:50, 24 June 2012 (PDT)
- It's one coffer for all scenes in a building. I'll edit to reflect this. --Ladodal 10:56, 24 June 2012 (PDT)
- The reason I asked is because this is different from the way inventory storage works; the latter is specific to scenes; that is, a Wardrobe (for example in one room holds a different set of clothes/familiars than does a Wardrobe in a different room of the same home. -- Franklincain (t/c) 11:08, 24 June 2012 (PDT)
- This is true. But then again, other storage furnishings hold a maximum of 20 or 40 of each type of item, whereas -- as mentioned above -- a building's coffers can hold, probably, four billion some-odd PoE. And I think the coffer system predates housing, and was designed for Shop owners, initially? That may explain it. At any rate, I double-checked before posting by moving a chest around in my Row House, and I've never heard of things being any different for Shops, Pirate Halls, Inns, etc. :) --Ladodal 11:16, 24 June 2012 (PDT)
- Thank'ee, milady. ;-) -- Franklincain (t/c) 11:26, 24 June 2012 (PDT)

chests on ships?
Acquired a ship (from a deleted pirate in my crew) recently, and the ship in question had a chest in one of the scenes. This lead me to consider -- how does the PoE storage of chests work aboard ships? Does the chest allow access to the ship's coffer (as part of the ship's hold)? Or is this a second coffer, separate and apart from the coffer of the ship's hold? In case no one else has experimented with this and discovered this information already, I intend to research this myself, at my next opportunity. But I wanted to document this question, in case someone else already knows. Thanks! -- Franklincain (t/c) 12:51, 8 August 2013 (PDT)
- Accesses the ship's hold. --Belthazar451 13:52, 8 August 2013 (PDT)
- Thank you, sir! ;-)
- Updated accordingly. -- Franklincain (t/c) 07:24, 9 August 2013 (PDT)
Different storage items of the same type in one room/scene?
Hi,
I was curious if I can have various storage items of the same type in one room and have them each have their own set of items. For example:
- 1 Fancy wardrobe with it's own set of clothing
- 1 Gilded wardrobe with it's own set of clothing
- 1 Haunted wardrobe with it's own set of clothing
- 1 Wardrobe with it's own set of clothing
Or would I get an error message when I have a fancy wardrobe placed and I try to add a gilded wardrobe? Or would they perhaps give access to the same set of clothing?

- I wish. :(
- You can use as many chests as you want since each building only has one coffers anyway, but it doesn't work with the other storage furniture. It won't even let you swap a different one in without popping the contents into your booty, so upgrading to a larger size is more trouble than I'd like. :( --Budclare2 00:09, 28 August 2018 (UTC)
- Oh, that's too bad! I had hoped we could do this. --Scrappy 11:24, 28 August 2018 (UTC)
