Talk:List of greeters by language

Language requirements
IMHO, greeters should be able to speak/write the language they claim at least at an advanced level. This is open to discussion of course. The message box on top of the page can be changed to reflect a change in policy. --Arminius 09:45, 29 January 2007 (PST)
Greeter ocean icons
I used a reduced pink heart trophy as a base for the icons. This was done on the fly, and I think they are a bit to big. The current ones cannot be made smaller because the ocean colors become unrecognizable. If anyone can make new icons, gladly appreciated. --Arminius 09:49, 29 January 2007 (PST)
- Cute, but they are huge. I'll make some. Probably the easiest small oceany thing would be little water drops. --Guppymomma 14:19, 29 January 2007 (PST)
- Could you insert the first letter of the ocean name into the drop? I have trouble distinguishing Hunter and Viridian. --Barrister 14:29, 29 January 2007 (PST)
- Yes. I can do that while I strangle Illustrator for cropping the bottom of the drops. I will also make the canvases 25px wide while I'm at it. --Guppymomma 14:35, 29 January 2007 (PST)
- How's that look to you? --Guppymomma 14:58, 29 January 2007 (PST)
- Maybe a couple of pixels fatter so that the letters center in the drop? --Arminius 15:59, 29 January 2007 (PST)

Code
Mind my slight edit to the template, but you can use the default value of 'no' so you only have to add the oceans you want each time. Less code to add. You could probably shorten it further so you didn't need the =yes section each time as well, but I didn't want to interfere too much without asking. --Sagacious (talk) 15:15, 29 January 2007 (PST)
- Well, considering it was my first crack at template code, I did as best as I could. Guppymomma changed it so that it doesn't need the noes. If you want to change it so that all it needs is the ocean name, have a go at it before more people add their names to the list. Cheers! --Arminius 16:03, 29 January 2007 (PST)
Uhm something is wrong with it now...not sure what the deal is. Double pipe between the pirate & ocean seems to make it work, but we shouldn't need that... --Guppymomma 10:27, 25 May 2007 (PDT)
- Fixed. --Guppymomma 10:35, 25 May 2007 (PDT)
Expiration date
I would like to add a little line of code to the template that would put a sort of expiration date on each person's listing; say 6 months from the day it is entered. It could be made in font -1 or hidden in the page, only viewable in the code. That way, every week or so someone could go through and take out the people that might not be in game any more; just like employment expires if you do not log into the game. Opinions? --Arminius 09:22, 18 March 2007 (PDT)
Opal Icon?
Don't we need to have an icon to add for Opal? Mainly all Germans will play there but still it's an ocean and therefor should be added. --Ascotte 02:08, 18 June 2008 (PDT)
- There is an image for it. It's just not mentioned on the page, and I'm pretty sure the assumption is simply that all players and all greeters on Opal speak German. --Belthazar451 03:14, 18 June 2008 (PDT)
- There is a wiki for the Opal Ocean. http://yppedia.puzzlepirates.com/de/Hauptseite You can go there to see if they have made a list of greeters by language there. --Guppymomma 07:13, 18 June 2008 (PDT)
Fix template example and ToC
I don't know if it's just me but the wiki being narrower now apparently doesn't get along with the dashed box that gives an example on how to use the template. I've been trying to fix it but I'm not that savvy and can't figure out a nicer way to put it. Maybe someone else can give it a try? --Cecidrake 02:04, 2 August 2008 (UTC)
- All fixed. Easiest way I knew how to fix it was switch it to a table. -- Cedarwings (talk) 04:31, 2 August 2008 (UTC)
Language not there
I speak a language that is not in the 'Contents' section. Can I still put my name on there and create a new language list, or am I not allowed to?--Azsian 09:42, 08 November 2008 (PDT)
- You may add another language section to the article. The existing languages are not an exhaustive list of all those spoken in the world. -- Faulkston 03:47, 9 November 2008 (UTC)
Subsection headers
This list ought to have its subsection headers in two different languages: English, and the language in question. --Moonfish1985 11:03, 10 April 2009 (UTC)
What about crimson?
Do we need to add Crimson to this page? --Addihockey (talk/contribs) 16:09, 1 September 2009 (UTC)
- It's already here. It just needs to be added to the key, which I will do shortly. --Belthazar451 22:13, 1 September 2009 (UTC)
