Talk:Keep Your Pantheon

Is it policy for the yppedia to use American English? It kinda makes me unhappy to be honest to have correct English usage in my part of the world changed. Can't both usages coexist here? Jezabella 05:21, 5 June 2006 (PDT)

I know how you feel, I'm never sure of the correct Americanizations half the time! *grins* --Featherfin 05:43, 5 June 2006 (PDT)
It's general policy to use American English. Mostly because that's where the game is based & that's what's used for game documentation. That said, there are a few instances in the official documentation that use commonwealth english, like colonisation. On the wiki article, we just redirect colonisation to colonization and mention the alternate spelling on that page. Basically it's meant to just pick and stick to a standard to be less confusing and to cater to the majority of the current community composition. --Guppymomma 07:37, 5 June 2006 (PDT)
My preference would be that if an article is consistent in its usage and it's not concerning a word that would require a disambiguation page, that the article be left alone. Jezabella 14:40, 5 June 2006 (PDT)
As an anglophile, if American, it irks me, too. Then again, the extra pe on the end of shop irks me, as well, so it may just be that I'm easily irked. My guess is that it's better to strive for consistency across the wiki, even if that standard is 'colors' and 'shoppes' instead of 'colours' and 'shops' --AtteSmythe 14:59, 5 June 2006 (PDT)
Aye, I do see both sides of the coin, and consistency is something worth striving for to be sure. I accept that its appropriate to base usage on the larger section of the community. I'll be honest that I don't like it, but I will accept it. *smiles* Jezabella 02:41, 6 June 2006 (PDT)
