Talk:Ice Ocean changelog

From YPPedia

There's a link to "old crate" in one of the release notes, but the linkage is invalid now. What should we replace it with? --Barrister 10:33, 21 October 2005 (PDT)

The slatted crate entry on the Furniture(Floor) page and add a note in the 4th column of the entry?--Vurogj 10:40, 21 October 2005 (PDT)

Latest Change

I think there's an error (both here and the changelog itself) in regards to the date on the latest release. I've got the habit of regularly checking the changelog (I have it bookmarked), and that last one didn't appear until today (it certainly wasn't there yesterday). --Thunderbird 12:24, 14 November 2005 (PST)

Fair enough, we can change it then.--Fiddler 12:47, 14 November 2005 (PST)
It's now corrected on the changelog (in both places). --Thunderbird 19:55, 17 November 2005 (PST)

2006-03-02

The 2006-03-02 section is missing the "Government Deeds are no longer tradeable" line. Ruddigore 01:18, 6 March 2006 (PST)

Fixed. Thanks for catching it! --Yaten talk 04:51, 6 March 2006 (PST)

2006-03-23

7 lines down on the ice changelog. "Manager/Roomate invitaions will now require the pirate to accept the position instead of having the position automatically forced on them." Invitations is missing a "t". --Muffynz 20:39, 23 March 2006 (PST)

Aye, but it's misspelled in the release notes, too. --Barrister 20:41, 23 March 2006 (PST)

General

Is this true any more... or, indeed, has it ever been true for ice? "Most releases are given a code name and a summary announcement from Captain Cleaver, Jack, or Peghead." --Ponytailguy 21:13, 24 March 2006 (PST)

Since the Ice Ocean is their test server, the changelog isn't considered a record of real "releases." No codenames for 'em until those changes are piled into an official release on the production servers. The wording could probably use some tweaking to mention that. --Guppymomma 04:18, 25 March 2006 (PST)

Older notes

Is there any way we can get to the changelogs that were posted before this was started, or are those effectively gone down the memory hole? (1984 reference here) --Thunderbird 13:09, 10 June 2006 (PDT)

/dnd

Please can someone zap the reference to the non-existant /dnd article (near the bottom) so that it can be completely wiped from the Wanted Pages list? --Piplicus 16:48, 9 July 2006 (PDT) Thanks Thunderbird! Please could you also wipe the /house reference on the 2005-10-05 entry? --Piplicus 17:37, 9 July 2006 (PDT)

Minor Nitpicking

Can the opening line be changed to include the word "Usually" as it currently reads as though 100% of changes that happen on Ice are abssolutly certain to make it to the production oceans.

Good idea. Fixed. --Barrister 22:10, 17 November 2006 (PST)

Locked

Out of curiosity, why is this page locked? Cedricshock 18:47, 22 November 2006 (PST)

At one point we locked all of the release-related pages (although many of them are now unlocked). Since this page is mostly for archival purposes (newer logs are freely available in-game), there isn't much of a need for high maintenance here. It might be anti-wiki, but it reduces vandalism and editor work. If you disagree with the protection of this page, we can certainly hold a vote to decide. --Yaten talk 20:41, 22 November 2006 (PST)
Don't unlock it if it makes work due to vandalism and misguided help. All I've ever wanted to do was add more notes when they've come out. Is it a don't-link-to-in-game-page no-no to add a link to the current Ice changelog? Cedricshock 01:11, 23 November 2006 (PST)(Also, how do you get that nice signature with the talk link?)
I think it should be unlocked until such a time as it is subject to vandalism. --Sagacious (talk) 02:35, 23 November 2006 (PST)
The current Ice changelog is linked at the bottom of the page—we're free to link to any and all yoweb pages (hence the pirate infobox change recently). I tend to agree with Sagacious; I don't think this page is subject to frequent vandalism. As for my signature, check out Special:Preferences and add wiki markup to the "Nickname" field, then make sure the raw signatures button is checked. Mine, for example, is [[User:Yaten|Yaten]] <small>[[User talk:Yaten|talk]]. --Yaten talk 08:00, 23 November 2006 (PST)
Just noticed this conversation - I'll unprotect the page now. As we approach the first complete calendar year for this page I'm contemplating the best way to archive the past changes and reducing the size of the article. My thoughts lead to splitting the log into 6 month intervals, transcluding each sub-page back into the main article.--Fiddler 01:38, 20 December 2006 (PST)
6 months seems reasonable, maybe 3 if it turns out to be too big. --Barrister 12:36, 20 December 2006 (PST)

add headings for year-breaks

To help make this just a bit easier to read (especially, the TOC), could we add in headings for the years, at a heading-level one higher than the releases themselves, please? (That is, either add level-one headings for "2014", "2013", "2012", and so on, or else insert these annual headings at level-2, but then also modify the Ice-change-log templates to be heading-level-3 (instead of level-2)...And I'm willing to help make those changes, if we go with this option, so labor won't be an issue.)

Thoughts? ;-)

Thanks! -- Franklincain (t/c) 15:47, 24 May 2014 (PDT)
