The Bird View

When you switch to viewing a web page or puzzle you will often see your Pirate and her immediate locale in the Bird view.

Female sexist language is just as bad as male sexist language. This can be written as

... see your Pirate and the immediate locale ...

which is gender neutral. --Behindcurtai 21:37, 26 January 2006 (PST)

The Pirate info page

Whilst the image definatly has a place in the wiki somewhere, Is it really the best thing to do in having a picture of the OM user interface for the pirate info page? (Indeed, its out of date as well :P

I think it's fine - but we need a new Booty panel screenie & explanation for the Bludgeon tab. --Sagacious (talk) 07:15, 7 June 2006 (PDT)
I think it should be changed. Otherwise, players will wonder if there's a bug preventing them from seeing the additional items. --Barrister 13:41, 7 June 2006 (PDT)

Last line

THe last line on the page should be broken in two, as it don't fit in the screen. (atleast not in Firefox)--Kinocha 08:02, 7 June 2006 (PDT)

There is an erroneous space before the start of those two lines. Needs to be removed to take them out of that box and wrap them. --Sagacious (talk) 08:15, 7 June 2006 (PDT)
Fixed it. Thanks. --Guppymomma 08:27, 7 June 2006 (PDT)

Chat Channel Selection

Does any documentation actually cover the channel selector button, what it does, and when it automatically changes? That strikes me as something really unintuitive for a user who's not chatted on anything more complex than AIM before. --AtteSmythe 08:56, 7 June 2006 (PDT)

Update in general?

Might be a good idea to just update the graphics in general... to wit:

  • OM/Dev features on pirate info page
  • Sea Battle on pirate info page, but no rumble/bnav
  • The crew section seems to be incorrect. (Isn't it just alphabetical instead of organized by who's on your vessel?)
  • Blockade button on vessel panel (Very few people will ever see it, and if they're still reading the basic docs, they almost certainly won't have it yet.)
  • "What's workin'?" Button on shoppe panel (I've run a shoppe and I've never seen it.)
  • No bludgeon section under Booty, nor an explaination below the screenshot for it.
  • It doesn't just say "daring game of skill" any more... "daring game of drinking/treasure drop/rumble", instead.
  • NPCs now have rumble ratings, not just drinking and swordfighting.
  • "Trade with" screenshot has omitted hearty button
  • Pants in "trade negotiation" screenshot are the ancient version
  • Tell, join, job, and Mute/Unmute, again, lack the hearty button. --Ponytailguy 14:03, 7 June 2006 (PDT)
Having tested it, the section on the crew panel is just downright wrong when it says it lists those aboard the vessel first. :-/ --Ponytailguy 14:09, 7 June 2006 (PDT)
Oh... it also lists jobbing crew above your main crew. --Ponytailguy 14:22, 7 June 2006 (PDT)
Another couple o notes: One image (Image:NPPradial.jpg) is missing outright, and the challenge radial menu has an icon that hasn't been in the game since before *I* started playing. --Thunderbird 14:20, 7 June 2006 (PDT)
Should the screenshots have doubloons visible, or just PoE? If you have them visible, then you might get people on subscription oceans wondering what those strange doohickeys are, but if you don't have them, then you might confuse the doubloon ocean people. --Emufarmers 20:13, 7 June 2006 (PDT)
Or you could just do it parallel. Two side-by-side, one with doubs and one without. Yay for compromise! --Ponytailguy 20:25, 7 June 2006 (PDT)
Would that work within the format of the xthml page? (Which page is this mirrored on, anyway? I can't find it in the docs.) Particularly if it's mirrored ingame, where width could be an issue?
Thunderbird showed the page to me, but there's no link to it from the doc index. While we're on this subject. :) --Emufarmers 20:40, 7 June 2006 (PDT)
It's mirrored here, and I'd bet on Liz being able to arrange a dev-server mirroring test --Ponytailguy 21:36, 7 June 2006 (PDT)

crew tab?

Stolen from the update in general part. I was reading it, and I felt totally dumb, but I didn't understand any of it! In the crew tab, it will show you your jobbing crew, crew, hearties. Within the crew it will show ye alphabetical who is online, and also who is jobbing. Something is mentioned on the page about the people on your vessel?? I was totally weirded out by that one. I would love to update this page, but I'm not a wiki star.(read: I am teh suckage at wiki) So I thought I'd just mention this. If anyone wants to help me updating it, let me know. --Evilaurian 04:47, 12 June 2006 (PDT)

Heh... I actually caught that and reported it in the comment above yours. And we can't update it, because it's official documentation, so only OMs are allowed to make content edits. (Admins can fix spelling/grammar and minor formatting stuff, but we can't add, remove, or change content itself.) --Ponytailguy 05:53, 12 June 2006 (PDT)
