Archipelago colors
Do they work, or is it just garish? --AtteSmythe 28 July 2005 12:36 (PDT)
- Looks ok to me, but I'd change the shade of red and blue to something a little less in your face.--Rroberts 28 July 2005 12:40 (PDT)
- Yeah, it's a little scary colored. I'm not sure doing the colors adds that much to the information giving as they're different colors from DiamondBlade's maps which seem to have become a sort of standard. --Guppymomma 28 July 2005 12:50 (PDT)
- My maps use different colours because you can't form a gradient with just the single colour that the ringers use on the archipelago charts, and because some of the similar colours like Pearl & Sapphire or Ibis & Tern look too similar with gradients when I don't fudge around with them a bit. You shouldn't worry about diverging at all- in fact it was part of why I was very hesitant to use gradients in my maps. (They just looked too cool though) --Diamondblade 09:34, 3 June 2007 (PDT)
- Visually, I also prefer the bulleted islands listing method as it breaks it up a bit more to make it easier to read. --Guppymomma 28 July 2005 12:52 (PDT)
- Very difficult. Maybe doable, but I'm not sure how much longer I can play with it today. I did make the headings much less garish, though I was a bad boy and used four s instead of trying to figure out how to get the width to work like I wanted it to. --AtteSmythe 28 July 2005 13:22 (PDT)
- Heh. I'll try fixing it a bit more if you don't cringe. Actually what would be even better would be to use a tiny icon sized version of the gem for each arch. Currently my lightyellow opal looks more like....pearl. sigh :) --Guppymomma 28 July 2005 13:26 (PDT)
- Yeah, maybe the gem is a good idea. Or a cropped screenie of the chart-sparkle-color. Go ahead and modify, I'm about out of ideas without making the source even more unreadable. --AtteSmythe 28 July 2005 13:28 (PDT)
- I've gone ahead and uploaded what images I could for the gems. I'd be more inclined to go with the chart-color, because archipelagos on Viridian, Cobalt, and Ice (excepting Jade) don't have gem images. For the curious, the gem images are located in ~~\rsrc\bundles\media\yohoho-general\media\yohoho\icons\items\gems – Yaten talk 29 July 2005 01:23 (PDT)

Real-life references
Yar for the Wayback machine. I was able to find these two [1], [2] lovely posts featuring the naming scheme for most of the islands. Should I add the info to each individual island page, or maybe put together a generic article like Origins of island names? – Yaten talk 19:01, 3 September 2005 (PDT)
- Individual island pages since that's how Sage is done, but a little section on Midnight Ocean or on the arch pages mentioning the overall scheme. --Guppymomma 19:27, 3 September 2005 (PDT)
Island Icons
I'm not liking having the icons instead of the word. I think the old way is much easier to understand. While the icons work just dandy for the maps, it just requires more effort for little game to use them in this table. --Fannon 11:27, 11 May 2006 (PDT)
- Agreed. Even with a legend to help clarify what each icon is for, it would still take much longer this way than having the actual word. --Rixation(T/C) 11:38, 11 May 2006 (PDT)
- Also agreed. Amongst other reasons, on Monobook with blue links - the links clash with some of the little icons. I think the icon system is confusing - as someone (especially a new user) would have little to no idea what the icons represent - and which is which. --Sagacious (talk) 11:44, 11 May 2006 (PDT)
- Okay. Change reverted. --Barrister 11:58, 11 May 2006 (PDT)

Oseberg & Norse chart changes request
Since I'm truly unfamiliar with the chart template, could someone else please switch the chart icons for Oseberg & Norse to outpost? Thanks. --Guppymomma 14:29, 22 August 2006 (PDT)
- Done. --Barrister 17:24, 22 August 2006 (PDT)
