YPPedia talk:Sample crew page
Just a starter, and, like the sample pirate page was, it's very much just my thoughts. Please give it a once-over, and once we have some sort of a style consensus, we can hopefully link it up to the YPPedia:Style guide. I did want to mention that while I'd looked around a bit to find examples of really good crew pages, IMO the crew histories need a lot of work. Pirates and flags look pretty good, but the crew pages I saw (even the very technically complete ones) seemed to lack polish. 2p --AtteSmythe 14:35, 11 July 2006 (PDT)
Possible Update to the Sample Crew Page for Discussion
I recently sumbled across the YPPedia:Sample crew page on the wiki and wished I had found it sooner. At any rate I created an updated version of it in my sandbox and thought I would run it by all of you for a possible update to the official one. Mostly I included specific examples for mates to follow, changed a couple of section names to reflect how the majority of crews have their pages formatted and include a couple of additional sections that most crews also include on their pages.
I would apprceiate feedback and suggestions you can find my version of the sample crew page at User:Kgarrett1969/Sandbox/Sample Crew Page. If this meets favorable with the cummunity I would like to get it posted into the official page. --Kgarrett1969 08:17, 9 November 2006 (PST)
I would like comments on whether mates think that it would be helpful making a code version that could be copied at the bottom of the entire page that has all the comment lines removed. I thought I would suggest this before I actually made the coding change for it. --Kgarrett1969 08:17, 9 November 2006 (PST)
- Love it! I really like how the comments came out, and it's a much more comprehensive crew page. Feel like taking a stab at the sample pirate and flag pages? Support using the new version. --AtteSmythe 08:21, 9 November 2006 (PST)
- Sure I'll look into kit bashing both of those as well. I'm glad you liked it. I hoped the comments would be a good compromise in giving more of a true sample page without sacrificing the tutorial aspect of it. Since you indorsed it do we need to wait around very long to update it. After all the original was your work. --Kgarrett1969 08:59, 9 November 2006 (PST)
- Sure, it seemed like consensus. Shazzam! --AtteSmythe 09:59, 9 November 2006 (PST)

Mission Statements
Recently I removed the Mission Statements from two pages because they were written in first-person and didn't seem to adhere to YPPedia:Policies and guidelines. But upon discussion with Guppymomma and Cecidrake, it seems that inclusion of such an item would be beneficial to players who peruse YPPedia's pages. I'd like to recommend adding a section for this item into the sample page. --Lilly 12:01, 5 January 2007 (PST)
- I would add it as an optional feature of the sample crew page. I would not want to force people into writing mission statements when most people don't know exactly what that is. --Arminius 12:54, 5 January 2007 (PST)
Proposed clarification and removal of slight redundant wording
The wording of the section name "History of crew name" is slightly redundant as the article is already about the crew. This is a minor point.
The crew name in bold in the history section is contrary to the guideline of bolding the first instance of the crew name. -- Faulkston 19:29, 22 June 2007 (PDT)
