Emufarmers

Final (0/2/2) ending 03:55 May 8, 2006 (UTC)

Emufarmers (talk • contribs) – I requested adminship previously, and am doing so again. (The previous request was archived, so I decided to use a new page.) Emufarmers 17:38, 30 April 2006 (PDT)

Candidate, please indicate acceptance of the nomination here: Self-nomination. :) --Emufarmers 17:48, 30 April 2006 (PDT)

Support

Oppose

  1. Candidate does not yet meet the standards I require to gain my support. The major thing missing is substantial contribution to two pages (as compared to minor edits). Candidate is significantly closer to adminship than last time. --Barrister 19:39, 30 April 2006 (PDT)
  2. I'm looking at the Contribs log, specifically the last 500 edits. I see lots of ms and no Ns. Your contributions to the Y!PPedia are wide-ranging and helpful, but so much of it is "spelling error fixed" or "added links" or what have you. I see little to no original content being added. Adminship is as much about building the Y!PPedia as it is about maintaining it, and I just don't see much building here. :-/ --Ponytailguy 21:08, 7 May 2006 (PDT)

Neutral

  1. I'm taking a neutral stance on this candidate. Whilst he's definitely made some valuable edits, I can't say I've noticed anything that stands out of the crowd. However, they've been helpful and solid, so I'll not oppose. --Featherfin 19:08, 30 April 2006 (PDT)
  2. I'll point out that it kinda says something when you neglect to fill in the actual end-date and just leave the copy/paste in there ;). --Thunderbird 19:23, 30 April 2006 (PDT)

Comments

  • While, obviously, the response I've gotten so far isn't exactly what I was looking for (though my head is not yet impaled upon a pike, at least), I'm a little suprised by the lack of comments and votes one way or the other: I realize most of the people here might not have much of an opinion one way or the other, but...Come on! Three votes? My impression was that the purpose of having the voting be open to the community like this was so that "the people" at large could determine things; at this rate, it seems like we might as well just have the bureaucrats confer for RfA, because our voter turnout makes the US's look like Australia's. (Sorry.) Come on, curs and wenches of the YPPedia; vote as you will, but don't be shy: Be bold! </Soapbox> --Emufarmers 19:50, 1 May 2006 (PDT)
    • Is this some kind of joke? Your RfA had been up for barely a day (out of 7) when you posted this. You've exhibited a startling lack of patience and judgment. While I appreciate the contributions you've made to the YPPedia, being an admin requires you to excercise both of those attributes. Your time would be better spent learning new things about the wiki rather than haranguing people to vote for you. For example, you could learn how to make a proper link to the main wikipedia.[1] Or work on the wishlist. Or write new material to show everyone that you can make substantive contributions. But instead, I'm sad to say, what you've written above reflects poorly on you. --Barrister 00:24, 2 May 2006 (PDT)
    • Please just relax a little. Some folks are simply busy with other tasks like rl weddings or even exams for a lot of our student population. Often times people actually like a mull over a decision before voting because they take the wiki very seriously and do not consider it an instant popularity contest. An RfA really isn't the place for a soapbox if you want to show that you have the mature demeanor that's needed for being an admin. Your time could be spent more productively. Heck, mine could be spent more productively on my wedding, so I'm going to end this comment now. --Guppymomma 05:41, 2 May 2006 (PDT)

Questions for the candidate
A few generic questions to provide guidance for voters:

1. What sysop chores, if any, would you anticipate helping with? (Please read the page about administrators and the administrators' reading list.)
A. I'd like to continue my present efforts in cleanup and anti-vandalism work, and updating the terminology articles, but I'd particularly like Adminship to be able to fix some of the obvious spelling and linking issues strewn through the Official namespace. If I can get an OM's blessing (Amphitrite, maybe?), I'd like to engage in a more thorough cleanup and updating of those pages.
2. Of your articles or contributions to YPPedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
A. I think I've advanced since I last applied for adminship, in terms of learning how things work around here, and in terms of manipulating wiki code. I've still got a lot to learn, particularly in the latter aspect, but I'm able to wikify things when necessary, and have tried to get more clear policies in place with regards to crew pages. (Without much success, I suppose; maybe I'm not that great of a rabblerouser. :P) I'll keep on truckin' in my efforts, regardless of the outcome here.
