Ooooo

Nice. I didn't know they had those functions available :) I can imagine many uses for this! --Guppymomma 18:18, 7 November 2007 (PST)

Thanks. Funny thing is that I found those functions on the Making templates help page on this wiki and also here. :P --Peterljr888 18:35, 7 November 2007 (PST)
Great find! I was unfortunately able to break it, but I'm hoping there is a work around. In the case of trinkets is there a way to ensure that the first letter is the only upper case letter. When I changed it to read "plain Medal" it didn't work. Reading through the Magic words page I'm not sure there is a solution to that. At least this would fix most problems. -- Cedarwings (t/c) 21:47, 7 November 2007 (PST)
Quick experimentation here: {{ucfirst:{{lc:plain Medal}}}} and it will change it to: Plain medal. --Peterljr888 12:21, 8 November 2007 (PST)
Of course it will. My brain was obviously not being creative enough when I looked at it. -- Cedarwings (t/c) 13:28, 8 November 2007 (PST)
Oooooh shiny! Great thinking! -- Thefirstdude (t/c) 14:23, 8 November 2007 (PST)
Very nifty. However, I'd remove the capitalization from the piratename field. The yoweb links work fine without it and I'm concerned what it might do to multiple word names, like we have with the Brigand kings. Instead, utilize the capitalization for the display name, but not for the name that's passed on to the links.--Fiddler 14:35, 8 November 2007 (PST)

Trinket problem

Having worked through this a little, there are some trinket problems that might preclude this from being used with trinkets. There are a number of trinkets that have the second word capitalized (ie. Santa Rampage 2006, Foot Brawl 2006). There are also some trinkets that have capital letters for the primary color, specifically the OM dolls. Although as I type this I realize that OM dolls is going to present another problem in itself. There are a few possible solutions to this...

  1. Don't use the capitalization functions for trinkets.
  2. Change all trinkets to conform to having only their first word capitalized.
  3. Change all trinkets to conform to having their primary and secondary fields as lower case words

A good majority of the problems people have on their pirate pages involve capitalization problems when dealing with trinkets and considering that some of them are different, I'm not entirely surprised. I would really like to see the capitalization functions used with trinkets but all of these trinkets would need to be "fixed" before the functions could be implemented. Opinions? -- Cedarwings (t/c) 21:01, 13 November 2007 (PST)
