Making progress - did some formatting

I managed to format the section on reported criteria to be more easily readable and added references and some comments (in italics). Also, the subject pirate (read: trophy recipient) in each sub-section now has their name in bold for quick searching. I am in the process of formatting the multitude of ideas in the second section. 2+ hours is enough for now. Will do more later.--Entharion 14:26, 29 June 2009 (UTC)

Iron Tackle trophy

I (Felismajor) just gained the Iron Tackle trophy today, at the end of the fourth and final round of the non-sinking Albatross blockade on the Emerald ocean, the last round of which was basically a flag-sit aboard a dhow. I was getting mostly Excellents on the duty reports. My experience and standing in sailing is Exalted/Grand-Master as I write this. The award occurred right at the end of the round, and therefore segment, at the same time as pay for the round and the duty report occurred. My guess is that the iron and steel trophies may have something to do with the number of segments performed during blockades on the particular station. Sailing is by far the station I have done the most during blockades. I did some gunning during the blockade as well, so it has nothing to do with doing the station exclusively during the blockade. For other clues, I do have the Seasoned Old Salt trophy, but not the next one in that series. I also have Pillars of Sails, Wind Marble, and Oaken Token of Sails. I do have the Incredible and Ultimate Sailor trophies, but doubt either is necessary. For those who got awarded an iron trophy in their homes, I would speculate that they had done some of the particular duty station in a blockade before they found themselves on land for whatever reason, and happened to go there, and be there when the segment or round of the blockade ended.

Sudden thought after reading the experiences of other players: I think, but am unsure, that I also got at least one of each kind of token during each segment of today's blockade. But those who are superb at getting rows and rows of tokens would have probably gotten the iron/steel trophies quickly if that were part of the trigger. --Robrendahl 20:28, 25 August 2013‎

Hmm. Actually, upon looking through YoWeb's leaderboards, I found that Gorbatsjov has Spires of the Tackle before or at only Sublime/Ult. I think it's pretty obvious that he's doing multi-rows of tokens quite a bit..... No Steel or Iron Trophies. This theory may be debunked hence. :( Argh.... Hmm.... Greyscale on Emerald has Pillars of the Tackle as well as Seal of the Tackle but no Iron or Steel Trophy. WITH Revered Experience.. And seems he's gotten lots of 2-rows.... Although I assume a lot of those are from SMH's..... He might have to do more Blockades with his awesome tokening abilities before this theory can be confirmed or debunked.... Okay, the theory about multiple segments with multiple rows of tokens is hence debunked. Zondaa on Emerald has Iron Pump with only Seal of Bilge, Solid Experience, Legendary rank (no Ultimate), and Flag Bearer.....

I hear from Owlwhisperer it may have something to do with overall scoring over the course of a Blockade. With Zondaa having Iron Pump... Hmm... This theory might be the one.... Gunnerfreak on Cerulean 14:23, 10 March 2017 (UTC)

New idea

An off-the-wall idea came to me from remembering the trophies from Bang! Howdy, one of which is the Iron Horse for playing 25 ranked games in a session without logging off. Could it be that the iron and steel trophies might be awarded for playing a minimum number of blockade rounds in a single session without logging off? To test this, we would need someone with a reliable internet connection to do some heavy blockading on a weekend, participating in multiple consecutive blockades. Could it be 10 rounds of blockading on the same station for iron, and 15 rounds of blockading for steel, all on a single session? Speculative, but someone probably has the stamina to be an "iron" man, or man of "steel" to test this guess. --Robrendahl 21:41, 29 August 2017
