The ocean is a wild and dangerous place, where daring pirates can risk life, limb, and ship against fantastic creatures. Rising up from the depths, Atlantis offers the promise of untold riches to only the bravest of pirates.
Charts to Atlantean outposts can be won from brigands. Atlantis hunts can be advertised on the notice board by setting the voyage configuration to Sea Monsters. All mates aboard the vessel must either be subscribed (on subscription oceans) or have bravery badges (on doubloon oceans) before the voyage can start.
Outposts are similar to flotillas, in that they sit at a certain league point, take the form of a continuous sea battle board, and allow players to treasure haul and obtain special maneuvers using the duty puzzles. Atlantis is home to three types of sea monsters (triketos, archelon, and gorgonyx) which come in various strengths. Sunken monsters can be treasure hauled for PoE and chests, which are only opened if the ship returns to port. Chests hold the true treasure of Atlantis including new furniture, rare trinkets, and clothing in a new Atlantean color.
Pirates in Atlantis also have to defend their ship from dragoons that board the ship and attempt to sabotage it. Dragoons can be repelled by successfully winning a swordfighting challenge or brawl against them. Swordfighting with dragoons differs from normal by the addition of an aqua trident piece. If enough dragoons come aboard, the entire crew is dragged into the fray, where defeat means losing the ship.
Ships can also raid citadels for additional treasure. Inside the protective shield, the crew is beset by a large force of dragoons. When the fray is over, win or lose, the citadel sinks beneath the waves, leaving the ship once again vulnerable to the waiting sea monsters.
